Bangertown
The slums of Rumble City, Bangertown is run by gangs and vigilante groups. Police presence is minimal, as the cops have an understanding: As long as there are no shootings or bloody stabbings, they stay away. The gangs vie for control over territory. Businesses are either run by the gangs or forced to pay protection to them.

Bloodshot Bourough
A downtown area known for its bars and nightlife. The area is also where city hall and the main police department are located. The closer to Bangertown you get, the seedier the bars and clubs get. The police patrol the area, but trouble still breaks out.

Dojo District
This area is known for the dozens of martial arts gyms, boxing rings, dojos, and high-school wrestling teams that are located there. The area is the front-line in the battle between gangs and citizen defense groups (read, vigilantes), as gangs have been infiltrating dojos, while residents have been banding together to keep them away. The police patrol the area, and, for the most part, the neighborhood is stable.

Pillsville
Once a hub of pharmaceutical manufacturing, most of the factories of Pillsville lie vacant after an economic crash. Now the neighborhood is known for its huge homelessness problem and lack of police attention.

Swole-Side
This beachfront boardwalk is where bodybuilders and martial artists go to show off and flex. Sports culture reigns supreme in this area, which is known for its parks, gyms, courts, and fields. An epidemic of steroid abuse means that even this high-dollar district has its fair share of gang activity.

Stack-Side
The lakefront property here is where Rumble City's wealthy live, always within gated communities protected by hired security. Businesses and restaurants thrive here (and charge high prices), and police presence is substantial.

The Pickets
The pickets are middle-class suburbs with a moderate police presence. Break-ins have become more common as Rumble City's economy worsens and worsens.

The Sticks
This area is characterized by woods, swamps, and trailer parks. Gangs are almost as active here as in Bangertown, although the rural nature of the area changes the way they operate and divvy up territory. Police presence is minimal.

Wholesome Prison
Officially known as Owsley Penitentiary. The gangs of Rumble City are rumored to run this place by paying off the guards. Nevertheless, the warden has a reputation as a no-nonsense sort who relishes inflicting pain on his inmates.

Location of Rumble City

"Rumble City" is the colloquial name for Drummond, a city located on Drummond Island, just off the tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The city's location on Lake Huron and just south of Ontario, Canada, made it an important site of pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug transshipment in decades past, but now the shipbuilding and drug-making industries have mostly disappeared. What's left of the city's economy revolves around seasonal tourism, but with the upsurge in crime and unrest, even that well is drying up.

Lance Mikowski

Lance Mikowski was arrested on multiple counts of assault about two years back. Someone pulled strings, he figures, to get him off the streets for a few years. The arrests stemmed from Lance finding out that one of the younger members of the gym he belonged to was being bullied. The inexperienced kid used what fighting skill he had learned to defend himself, but his inexperience led to him being beaten nearly to death. Lance asked around and found that the bullies all came from the same gym and had a reputation of showing off with their fists. Lance went to talk to the gym leader, but words led to weapons as an all-out rumble broke out. By the time the police showed up, they saw weapons strewn about, bodies lying unconscious, a wrecked gym, and several beat-up men who couldn't give a straight story about what had gone down. Lance was sitting on a stool, bloodied but grinning. He was later charged with multiple counts of assault and went away to "Wholesome Prison."

About a year ago, Lance got out—awfully fast, it seemed, but he claimed it was for good behavior. He looked into opening his own gym, eventually locating a property in the Bloodshot Borough area that used to be a nightclub called "One-Two," a play on its address and the old-timey band that used to play there. The nightclub was trashed in a police/gang raid and shut down, so Lance got it for a steal. Since the sign was undamaged and One-Two still works for either reps or punches, he kept the name. He's fixed it up, but it's still got shades of both its former glory and its destruction.

Today, the neighborhood fits the place well, given its late hours and rough-and-tumble reputation. More than one of the private security guys from the local bars stops by before or after their shifts to get some pump in and chat with Lance, a great opportunity for the crew to learn about the local happenings.

One-Two

The image above represents the floor plan of One-Two when it was a nightclub. Lance Mikowski has since modified the layout. This includes opening up the hallways so that the gym has more of an open floorpan so that the offices on the west side of the building look out directly onto the gym floor. Other changes include:

1. The bar along Wakamatsu Street to the north has been removed, and a glass storefront installed to allow more light in.
2. The dining areas has been repurposed as a general workout area, with various types of exercise equipment (punching bags, free weights, stationary bikes, etc.).
6. The dance floor has been padded for use in various floor martial arts.
7. The stage has been replaced by a regulation boxing ring that doubles for wrestling and kickboxing.
9–10. The green rooms are now locker rooms.
