I figure we'd want to take different archetypes at least. Did you have any preferance between the Ace, Diplomat, Engineer, Commander, Soldier, & Spy? I'm probably not going to go with the Soldier for whatever I pick since it might be a blend of my other two characters if I did.
I guess it depends on the kinds of missions we're running. If we were a Y-Wing squadron, I could imagine wanting a fair number of pilots (and co pilots?) as an example.
The base you guys are going to isn't outfitted with many ships so don't expect a ton of space but having a couple of people capable of piloting would be a really good idea
I am having a real issue making a final decision, so I will turn to the group. I am leaning hard toward Soldier, but not sure whether to go Medic or Sharpshooter...but Commando isn't out of the question if the group thinks it would be more useful. There is also the question of race. I'm leaning toward Droid, but might go human to keep things simple. Thoughts?
You couldn't go wrong with either so far. You guys have some medical presence as is but there's always use for more but theres also a hole to fill as is when it comes to someone with a good amount of gun skill.
@ Foolsmask
Although all three would probably work Commando and Sharpshooter would both shine I think since from the write up we're probably going to be doing guerilla/sneak attack/hit and runs to get situated.
I'm going mostly support and subvert myself. I'll probably lean into heavy Mechanics, Computers, Skullduggery, Stealth, and Coordination which seemed odd for an Engineer but not as a Saboteur if he's out in the field I think it makes sense to be covert (We're new and just got blitz'd by the Empire) until we can wrap our heads around what's happening. Hopefully after a regroup it's more out there than just us!
I know very little behind how vehicles 'work' in the system but I think between my character and Kilbert66 we can hopefully patch it/jury rig it. Hopefully we don't stress out As530 on driving, fixing, & breaking them.
Interestingly, Vehicle combat is pretty similar to other combat.. but mostly I figure we'll need /someone/ who can drive us places when the time comes to be driven somewhere. I thought briefly about being a Gungan ace, because the very idea amused the heck out of me.
"Meesa thinking we should be going through dis gorge!"
"Uh, are you sure you can fit?"
"Meesa do this aaaall de time. Meesa can fly dis ship through anything!"
At first vehicle use is going to be very limited. Not as in I wont let you use vehicles its just the ship youre coming in on is previously damaged and land vehicles are hard to get by due to the small populace of the base youre ending up in. Youll have some vehicles but parts to repair will be scarce at the beginning
As a side note Id ask around anyone you knew on here and see if they wanted to play. We are one character short and can play as 4 but id love to see a nice party of 5 going
I figure due to the time frame and ops tempo of the Oh Shi! Event starting out we'd be cannibalizing equipment constantly that we find if it isn't better than what we have just to keep going until we figure out what is going on and what to do about.
Make sure for Bas Unax you select a different career or specialization skill from mechanics. Currently due to your racial ability youre at 3 mechanics.
Also Killbert please check up with me as to how you want to fix your xp situation.
Other than that your sheets are ready to be posted!
Ok, so I appear to be the last one getting ready here. Any suggestions on a class or role that would be helpful here? Maybe we're lacking something specific?
@ Nat, fixing things is covered by the engineers I'm decent at computers skulduggery and mechanics for now, the scientist is got medical coercion and smart people stuff. We have a pilot and muederbot too. Sounds like the military leadership is npcs with us so whatever you like no one is a diplomat, commander, or spy though.
I guess it depends on what social skill you wanted to be good in or a combination of charm, deception, coercion like Killbert's Scientist, negotiation, or streetwise? some combat skills would make sense since 'we're all gonna die!' That plus look through the skill trees for Ambassador, agitator, quartermaster or the three from the sourcebook, advocate, analyst, or the propagandist.
charm, coersion, deception, leadership, negotation, and streetwise of the Agitator or the charm, computers, deception, leadership, negotation, Skulldugery, and vigilance of the Quartermaster seem the most useful options in my opinion. But the knowledge skills may prove usefu depending on the missions we get.
I have submitted my character for approval, http://gamersplane.com/characters/sweote/1391/, not sure if I've missed anything. Anyone wanna look it over for me?
Edit: Also, any idea where I can find good character portraits? Pics for dnd characters are easy. Random humans seem to be a bit harder
If you could, please also post in the "post your builds here" section. It helps me format my own sheet of your character, gives you extra starting credits, and lets me know how you spent your free career/species/specialization skills among other things.
We should be starting this by Sunday if everything works out correctly!
naatkinson, yes I did, and I'm a sucker for "l33t" speak. I was looking at naming conventions for droids and found a site that classified security droids and battle droids as 'Type M' (no idea if that was ever part of the canon) and then gave them a number and a dash and some other numbers and letters. And with Force Awakens and the origin of Finn's name fresh in my mind I could't pass up the chance. So feel free to call him 'Mate' for simplicity.
as far as my interpretation goes when a skilled assistance takes place it takes the highest of characteristic and highest of the specific skill between the two characters performing the check. So player a being cun 3 perception 0 and player b cun 2 perception 2 would equal a roll of cun 3 perception 2 (2 yellows 1 green)
Skimming the book, I didn't see the rules on assisting...but I'm not able to hunt through the book right now. I'm cool either way and I'm not sure its worth rolling another die, the number of failures and threats he rolled would be difficult to beat.
If you can reason the computer check well I might allow it. It can be reasoned here or dialogued out. Otherwise you may need to chose something else to determine the plausability
I'm unsure mechanically how emission, frequency, and telecommunication securities would work. Maybe it be more protocol but that's not a skill either. Lt doesn't seem to have his chops in Bas' opinion since he's opting to do maintenance's job. The captain would have at least told us in advance of a contact I would think. Otherwise to Mr this guy seems to be fishing.
Protocol for a field would follow under the skills domain all you would have to do is just flesh it out a bit with dialogue and roleplay for me to count it.
Oh I figured out from reading through the skills I think what I wanted was Warfare to figure out what he was saying on the technical side or Streetwise to read his body language/attitude.
My character has a high Agi -- so he's more primed for piloting and conflict than negotiation -- so I'll happily chip in if things degrade, but otherwise will be part of the woodwork to let the speakers make the Right Stuff happen. :)
Is it bad I feel like I'm browbeating this old man with Bas' level of denseness to social queues or how he's following what's going on. On a side note if they let us in unattended maybe we can have a look around (For a hidden cache) and fix the place up once we find out why the rebels left. Hopefully not due to the notice of Imp forces knowing it's location to bomb it...
*flops over*
In the meantime optimum warm moist weather just like the bog by Grampy's we use to go to for vacation.
Also God forbid M4-T3 has a transforming sequence...
Also we were suppose to catch a chipper smiling guy coming up to us in balmy hot rainy weather that human's hate... that's a human right? Plus stating our Captain by name and if he's alone on the ship... Bas' sensor for Stranger Danger started going into overdrive.
Also, I am..entirely unsure what the hell we're supposed to be doing--both groups are getting the exact same medical supplies? That seems completely counterproductive. Wasn't one group supposed to be looking for other materials?

The problem is that we don't have much time and we're not all that sure where to get what we need so we're taking the chance on getting duplicate supplies to increase our chances to save the sergeant.
In regards to other materials, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get something that might help us to repair the ship.
I figure more medical supplies would be better since it's the primary thing we need, everything else we purchase or steal find is gravy on top... plus Imps in the area is news, maybe we might find out who they'll looking for and find them first. Oddly enough our squad sticks out less than them.
Orderwise getting emergency medical supplies is priority objective, fixing the ship secondary, everything else we do to improve our situation not focused in that area is based on ops tempo. Once objectives one and/or two have been completed mission overview might change.
hey guys im going to be absent for awhile. My sister was diagnosed with leukemia last week so with all the time at the hospital I cant run the game at the moment. Ill let you know when I'll be back.

No worries, family first. I'll keep your sister and family in my prayers!

Sorry to hear this. Take care of your family first and come back only if and when it makes sense.
