Kalavera found herself in an Alliance briefing room on Sy Myrth when Commander Jonas walked in, "Greetings Kalvera, I hope today is finding you in good spirits." It had been nearly a three months since the major victory at the battle of Endor but the Empire was far from being broken. Still they were not as effective as prior to that battle and they were losing ground so things seemed to be on a good path.

Commander Jonas continued, "We have gotten some information that might prove to be useful if it has any substance to it so we want you to go to Formos and talk with a Duros named Banu at Rii Jenks a Cantina near the space port there. However, while this sounds fairly easy I need to warn you that sector is starting to heat up so you are going to have to be careful. Still we will be providing you with a excellent pilot and a fairly good low profile ship so hopefully if you encounter any trouble there you will be able to get out if necessary. Any questions?"
Feb 4, 2020 8:44 pm
Kalavera nods respectfully to Commander Jonas as he enters the room, turning her attention to him as he speaks and lays out the situation. A wave of relief spreads through at the mention of the victory over Endor, but she does know how far from truly defeated the Empire is. Nodding as the Commander speaks she thinks for a few minutes after he finishes before asking, "I'm doing well, Commander, thanks for asking. This Duros, is he going to have actionable intelligence or is this a retrieve info and report back sort of mission? Also, we if we run into trouble out there, is this pilot a fighter, or a taxi driver?"
Feb 4, 2020 10:23 pm
"Well... how should I put this. He is a really good fighter pilot. He just... can be a bit of loose cannon. So if a fight breaks out you are more likely going to have to pull in on the reigns than be concerned about him not putting up a fight. Still you will have a ships tech as well and they will not take to kindly to getting the ship all shot up so you can count on them to help with the reigning in if it becomes necessary.

As to this assignment I think you misunderstood me. We got information from our contact that this might be worth looking into. What you will be doing is getting employed by this Banu character and from them you will be getting details. So at this point it is mostly a just go see what it is exactly then decide what needs to be done from there. Your just going into a rather hot zone, is all. Is that clear."
Feb 4, 2020 11:00 pm
"Roger that. Yeah, I misunderstood the parameters. So our contact is Banu who will have some assignment or assignments for us. What is our check-in procedure for contacting HQ? After having spent so long working in the dark, and flying under the Empire's radar it still baffles me to think that their broken and trying to pick up pieces..." Kalavera answered, shaking her head in wonder at the change the last few months had made.
Feb 5, 2020 2:30 am
OOC:
Okay I updated the first post -- you are currently on Sy Myrth
"Okay to be clear Banu is not a contact, in fact we do not even know all that much about them. They are simply the source that is going to higher your crew to do something that involves something that our contact felt may be of interest to the Alliance. So sorry for all that vagueness but this is not currently high on the Alliance's agenda, however, it might be should what you find out about it raise it from an interest to a priority. However in order to contact the Alliance you will have to pull back to Nimat which is about a 4 day journey one way from Formos so you will be pretty much on your own while in that region so use your best judgement in what you do and pursue and contact us as soon as it is practical to do so."
Feb 5, 2020 5:44 am
"Ah, ok. I understand now. We're meeting with an unknown quantity in this Duros and are to assess the situation as it progresses. The pilot and mechanic, how much information are they to be privy to, Commander, as I notice they are not in this briefing?" Kalavera nods, finally understanding the situation, she believes, and makes a few notes onto her datapad.
Feb 5, 2020 6:03 am
"Well that is going to be up to you to decide once you have assessed the situation, although on the ground the pilot is going to be your backup as I doubt you will get the tech to leave the ship once he finds out where you are going. With that said, you will probably want to let him know something about what you are doing, as you do not want him blowing your cover when you go to accept that job. Now to be fair, he is not all bad. He is just a bit overzealous when it comes to the Empire which has gotten him into trouble for not following orders. We are hoping that if he is not facing down the Empire he will be a bit more manageable."
Feb 5, 2020 8:19 am
"We'll call it a take on need-to-know, then. I do think that, in some cases, people work better if they know a bit about the 'why', but let me meet up with the team and see what I think. Based on your earlier comment, I'm guessing there's going to be no ground support or anything else standing by if the situation is worse than expected, but we'll get it sorted out, Commander." Kalavera says after tapping out a last few notes on her pad. As she finishes speaking, and typing, she glances up and throws a casual sort of salute. She'd never really gotten used to the militaristic stylings of the Rebellion, the Jedi had never had anything so formal, though the Grand Army of the Republic... Well, that was a different time, a different life away. Deal with the here and now. Standing up she paused for a moment, tapping the side of her datapad as she thought before adding, "Any other information you might have would be helpful. Pictures, background info on the Duros, anything like that. You know how it is, the more you know, after all, right?"
Feb 5, 2020 10:11 pm
"No all we got was the name," he holds out a finger, "the species," increases it to two fingers, "where to find them" adds his thumb, "oh and" he pulls in the thumb and shows four fingers, "he is a blue skin almost forgot about that, good thing you asked. Also you will be taking the Epoch Raven it does not look like much but from what I hear Gakli has enhanced it some. Oh and that's your Tech by the way and your pilot's name is Zane. Yeah that is about it, I suggest you get your supplies and get going its about 7 days to Formos."
Feb 5, 2020 10:34 pm
"Sounds like a plan. That bit of information might help, yeah. I'll get right on it, Commander. May the Force be with you." Kalavera says, adding the last almost as an after thought. She'd been hearing more and more folks saying it since Endor, even before then, since the Skywalker kid joined up a few years back and things really felt like they'd taken a turn, but especially since Endor. It felt weird saying now what so many years before was almost a ritual dismissal, but it also felt right. With a nod to the Commander she left the briefing room and headed towards where she could requisition supplies for the mission.

After that was set in motion, she figured it was time to meet up with this "Zane" character, and the tech, Gakli. She turned her steps towards the hanger area, knowing most pilots rarely drifted far from their ships if they could avoid it. She also figured that the techie might be there as well, tinkering away.
Feb 6, 2020 2:36 am
Checking the supplies that had been loaded on the ship she found that basically all the standard gear had already been loaded, so not much to do there and it did not take her long to find the ship either. The Epoch Raven turned out to be a flat black, YKL-37R Nova Class Light Freighter and sitting on a crate next to the ship was a human, she had forgot to ask what species her crew was as she was not sure if that was Zane or Gakli. Although Gakli did not sound much like a human name, one never knew about names, as Zane could be an abbreviated name for something even less human sounding.

Zane sits on his crate, flicking a credit ship through his fingers.

As he notices people passing by, Zane starts doing, flicking the credit chip from hand to hand.

He tries to project the air of someone who is totally content where he is, but frequent glances to the boarding ramp suggest that he isn't.
Feb 6, 2020 7:18 am
OOC:
would you like me to roll co-ordination for the tricks?
Feb 6, 2020 6:37 pm
As Kalavera looks around the hanger bay, she can't help but notice the Epoch Raven sitting around, being loaded and fueled up. She doesn't know much about ships, but it seems like it should suit their purposes more than well enough. Without knowing who Zane or Gakli are, nor what they looked like, she snagged a passing maintenance tech and said, "I'm sorry to bother you, Tech, but I'm curious if you know who the pilot of that ship, the Epoch Raven, is?"
Feb 6, 2020 9:37 pm
OOC:
Sure Cavalier you can make those tests if you like to see if you were overly impressive or flubbed things up. In situations like this feel free to employ the dice to see how well or not well you are doing something -- and augment it if you need such as -- say he blows the first coordination roll and then tries to immediately cover for that with a second one kind of thing -- thus you are simply using the dice to augment your descriptions which is always a good thing in my book -- just retcon that in to your original post
The Tech glances over to the Epoch Raven and shakes his head side-to-side, "No, but that is Zane," he points to the guy sitting on the crate, "he's a pilot, and I think Gakli is inside and he can pilot as well. So maybe one of those two."
Feb 6, 2020 10:06 pm
"The exact pair for whom I was searching. Much appreciated." Kalavera says with a thankful nod to the technician before turning to head towards the one identified as "Zane". As she walks across the bay, she reaches up and straightens out the strands of the headdress adorning her montrals. As she gets close, she lets her gaze run over the human figure as he sits on the crate, fidgeting with the credit chip. Clearing her throat she says, "Good morning. You must be Zane. I'm Kalavera, though feel free to call me Kala if you prefer. You're to be my pilot, or so I hear...?"
Feb 8, 2020 11:29 am
Zane doesn't turn. "I'm a pilot."

Zane flips the chip into his pocket.

"And my name is Zane."

Rolls

Final trick to spin the cred chip into my pocket

4 Success, 3 Advantage, 2 Threat, 1 Black Force Point

Total: 4 Success, 1 Advantage

Feb 8, 2020 11:34 am
OOC:
Zane is angry, so will unnecessarily and instinctively use the force point for an extra success.
Zane's fingers move inhumanly fast, spinning the credit chip around his hand before it flicks into the inside pocket of his jacket.
Feb 8, 2020 8:28 pm
OOC:
Nice I like that touch seemed very appropriate but I upgraded it to Challenging Hard difficulty -- you still succeed.

Rolls

Secret Roll

Feb 9, 2020 7:21 am
Kalavera raises an eyebrow at the response before glancing down at the pocket into which the chip had vanished, but holding back any comment. With her head she nods towards the ship identified to her as the Epoch Raven and says, "Well, if you're Zane, and that's the Epoch Raven, then yes, you are my pilot. Did you get any orders or...?" Leaving the question hanging, she glances at his outfit, scanning it for insignia or anything as she tries to determine whether he's actually a member of the Rebellion, or whatever they were going to call themselves now that there was nothing to rebel against, or merely a hired hand or mercenary.
Feb 9, 2020 7:40 am
Zane is currently in civilian clothing; his armour is in his pack. He wears no alliance insignia (it is all on his armour).

"That's the ship they're making me fly. I hope you're a competent gunner. Too many turret weapons for my liking."
OOC:
This is based on the stat block for the YKL-37R in one of the source books. Let me know if this freighter version is different and i will come up with a different surly response :)

OOC:
No it looks pretty much like a standard version on the outside -- except for that flat black paint design and the attachment on the front that makes it look more like it has a beak. Once I have set up the image offline so I can hook it in I will post it for all to see
DeJoker sent a note to Koszul
Across the hanger bay Seke's spots his friend Kala talking with someone sitting on a crate next to a freighter perhaps she is heading out. Seke currently has nothing on his plate so perhaps hooking up with his friend and helping out might be something that would be a worth while thing to do.
Feb 11, 2020 2:51 pm
"So Kalavera, where am I flying this pile of junk?"

Zane looks up and smirks.

"I hope it is close by. The sooner we are done the sooner I can get back in a snubfighter and do some real good for the rebellion. Or the republic. Or whatever we are calling ourselves this week."
Feb 11, 2020 6:50 pm
"Formos. Our destination is Formos for this trip. But though this craft isn't a fighter, you are doing good for the ... whatever we're calling ourselves. New Republic, maybe? I don't know. There's more good to be done than simply piloting a fighter in battle. You have to know where you're fighting, and it helps to know who or what you're going to be fighting. That's my job, generally. So trust me, we'll be doing some good. I think the ship is already loaded up, I'm going to go grab my gear, then I'll meet you back here in 15 minutes. Do you know if Gakli is already on board?" Kalavera says, feeling somewhat indignant at his implying that the only good one can do for the Rebellion, whatever, is from behind the control stick of a fighter.
OOC:
Sorry for the delay, I was hoping that Koszul might jump onto his character thread to discuss how our characters might know each other so we can integrate him into this mission. I'll rope him along even if he doesn't respond if it gets to that point though, heh. "Hey Doc! You busy? No? Cool, come to Formos with us!" Lol...

OOC:
I was also hoping they would show up here as well -- we will move forward but we may have to say (if they show back up and plan to be semi-regular) then we can adjust and have their character have met your character as they walked away from the ship and got hooked up then -- apologize for these kind of delays its just the nature of PbP easy come easy go and some folks sign on then RL steps in and you never hear from them again -- what's worse is to have someone sign on and you know their active but they never do anything after signing on and/or making the character including notifying you they are not interested anymore -- already had that happen once or twice on here
Feb 12, 2020 9:54 am
"I know who I am fighting. I destroy Imperial ships. And I'm awesome at it. Why I am fighting is my business."

Zane pauses

"I have my gear here. And yes, Gakli is on board. Happy to get going as soon as possible."

Kalavera nods, suppressing a sigh at the attitude. It was, unfortunately, not the first time she'd encountered it before with the Rebellion, though. Well, his attitude wasn't her problem, yet. Glancing around the bay one last time, she nods again and says, Sure, fine. Still, information is power in a war, and despite the victories we've had, this is still a war. I'm going to go grab my gear, I'll be back."

Turning away before he can respond, Kala begins to make her way towards the quarters she's been living in on base to gather up her stuff.
OOC:
If you want, Joker, I can add something to that last paragraph and inviting the doctor along, Koszul's character, so we have a reason for him being with us later. Your call...
Feb 12, 2020 7:59 pm
OOC:
Nah they have not shown up by now I am going to guess RL has stepped in again on them which could be an issue going forward so I will not be concerned about it for now.
Kalavera moves off and gathers her belongings and eventually returns to find Zane still sitting on the crate. As she approaches the ship she does notice that it is completely shut up. Zane had said that Gakli was on board, so why was he still out here? Perhaps there was a bit more to this picture than she had first noticed.
Feb 12, 2020 9:05 pm
Zane sits mulling over his situation, fidgeting with his cred chip.

His father had taught him these tricks, much to the annoyance of his mother. Father had said that pilots had to keep up their precision; that tiny movements meant life or death. But even father had told him to stop when he got too good at them.

Hypocrites, all of them. The rebellion was no better, sending him off to run taxi duty because they couldn't deal with a skilled pilot showing their mediocrities up.

Zane had heard that Imperial pilots derided the Rebels. Tie fighters took skill to fly, they said. Rebel fighters had shields to take the first few mistakes. In a tie every move was life or death. It was a shame that the Empire was even more full of self-important idiots than the Rebellion. Fighting alongside pilots who thought like that, that would be a true challenge.

As Kalavera returns, he stands and picks up his pack.

"After you"

Lugging all of her gear across the base wasn't fun, but she didn't know what the situation would call for once they got to Formos, so better to have it all. At least that was how Kala figured it. So it took her a little time to get back to the ship and was a little surprised to find it closed, but figured that maybe they were just trying to be ready to go. Seeing Zane she nodded at him when he spoke and headed towards the closed boarding ramp. "I'm sure you closed the ship up for a reason, but yeah. Let's get out of here. Once we get underway I'll give you and Gakli some more info about what we're doing..."
Feb 13, 2020 1:23 am
Kalavera steps over to the entrance to the ship and presses the pad that would trigger the ramp to open and she gets a high voice instead of an opening ramp, "No Zane I told you, you cannot come aboard until Kalavera Sena arrives."
Feb 13, 2020 6:07 am
"Well, then I guess we both can board the ship, yes? You must be Gakli. At your convenience..." Kala says, glancing over at Zane with a slight smile on her face. She wondered what the pilot had done to so annoy the mechanic, but figured she'd hear about it soon enough and instead chose to stand and wait for the ramp to be lowered.
Feb 13, 2020 7:46 pm
Zane stands up, watching Kalavera and waiting for the ramp
Feb 13, 2020 9:26 pm
"Your not Kane. Who are you?" Apparently her running under the radar within the Alliance must have meant that this Gakli did not recognize her.
Feb 14, 2020 12:50 am
"Kalavera Sena, at least last time I checked. If you'd be so kind as to open the door, I think it's time we got underway..." Kala says with a sigh. All of her stuff made for quite the bundle, and she was more than looking forward to stowing it in a bunk on the ship.
Feb 14, 2020 8:24 pm
Zane hefts his gear onto his shoulder, smiling slightly at the exchange.
Feb 16, 2020 1:49 am
"Oh.. okay." The ramp lowers allowing entrance into the ship. As Kalavera walks up she is met by a barely three-foot tall individual. "Hi," it says in a somewhat high-pitched voice, "I am Gakli so where are we headed?" Then she looks past Kalavera to Zane, "and you! You better not get this ship all shot up or nothing like you normally do... fly boy."
Feb 17, 2020 8:36 am
"Nice to meet you, Gakli. Zane knows where we're going, I'm gonna go get my gear stowed while we get underway. To Zane's credit a lot of our recent missions have involved a lot of combat. Just getting through them can be challenging enough. Still, though, I'd prefer not to get shot up if we can avoid it..." Kalavera says, nodding at the engineer and hefting her gear. As she walks up and into the ship she glances around, trying to get a gauge of how functional the ship is.

"All the ships I fly get the job done. Guess there is a common factor there."

As Zane talks to Gakli he moves onto the ship and straight to the cockpit.

OOC:
Okay waiting for the new arrival to arrive but I have also posted the Epoch Raven for you consumption :)

On his way to the cockpit, Zane throws his kit bag into the single cabin. It lands with a surprisingly heavy thump.

OOC:
It doesn't look like the deck plans are shared correctly, at least I can't see them. I was waiting to make a post about "claiming a room" until I could, lol. Then I got busy with work. It's ok, Kala will yell at Zane shortly about that...

That was my hope :)
Feb 21, 2020 9:10 pm
OOC:
Okay I think it has been fixed try it again -- it just sounded like Cavalier was able to see the map but I guess they went off the Legend. There are actually 2 Single Rooms though and their is a Double/Triple room at the back of the cockpit module as well and frankly until you get more than 4 people on board besides Galki those Double/Triples are going to be used as singles.

Note I had to play with the original schematics a bit as the ship design says it has a crew of 2 and passenger capacity of 6 for a total of 8 but the original deck plan had room for only 5 individuals total not sure where they were housing those other 3 individuals

Gakli's room is a double-decker room that was converted from a storage room it has a three-foot high door and you step down into the room this thus actually allows for an additional person not that you will have that many on board but ya never know ;)

Amalie approached the Nova Courier model freighter with a look of barelly disgusied disdain. Not at the mission and, in truth, not at the ship itself. As far as she could remember it had decent raeviews and ratings in the market. No, Amalie just had an ingrained dislike of ships not designed by Kuat Shipyards. It wasn't really fair, per say, but Amalie couldn't help but look at a ship and think We would have done it better.

Still, now was not the time to be distracted by idle thoughts. She had been assigned to a mission at last. It had felt like some time since she'd been given leave to do some work, though in reality it hadn't been all that long. Amalie was a girl of action though, and waiting for the rebellions internal affairs, the equivalent to the Empire's ISB, to go over her mission debrief's every time was frustrating for the young woman.

She supposed it was to be expected. Amalie had only recently left the Imperial Navy and was tied to a prominent Imperial Company. She'd earn their trust eventually. For now, she would take the assignment she got. Luckilly, she'd be working with her friend Kala. Well, friend may be somewhat familiar but they had been on several missions together and been friendly. In the end, you can't help but think of the soldier next to you in a shootout as a friend when it's all said and done.

Her steps were crisp as she came up the ramp. Amalie went from nobility to military life and nearly everything about her spoke to it. Her posture, her movements, even her outfit cried out that this woman was raised in the upper crusts of society.

"Hello Kala. It's been a bit hasn't it. I do hope you remember me." Her core world accent was clear and liliting, holding a genuine affection for Kala under it's polished tones. "It seems I've been assigned to this mission a bit last minute." Amalie Shrugs and reaches up to adjust the hair clip that disgusies her BPEA-1A Cascader out of nevouse habit. She lowers her voice to be playfully conspiratorial "I'd been pestering the Commander to get me out of the base and working and it turned out you were a man down. No worries about rank, the Commander made it clear you're in overall command of the mission."

She held out her hand to shake, a warm smile on her face. "I'm looking forward to working with you again. I believe you'll find I'm a much better shot than last time." The last quip was said with a bit of a smirk, as if sharing in an old joke.

____
OOC:
Sorry about that hold up. This week got a little crazy. But here's a nice long one to help introduce Amalie

OOC:
I was going from the Legend. Apologies if there was any confusion. I thought that 17 (the one in the cockpit) was a single from the Legends description. Happy to retcon to Zane throwing his gear into that room.
Feb 22, 2020 9:05 am
Kalavera was still standing near the entrance of the ship, just looking in the direction that Zane had gone, presumptuously tossing his bag into one of the nicer rooms without a care. She was wondering if she should say something about it, or let the matter slide. She was just leaning towards the latter, she'd slept in worse quarters over her time with the Rebellion, when a voice behind her startled her back to the present. Turn around she's pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face strolling onto the ship. With a genuine smile creeping onto her lips she reached out to take Amalie's proffered hand and shake it firmly. With a quiet laugh at the other's joke, she shakes her and says, "Amalie, by the grace of the Force, it's good to see you still alive and kicking. It has been sometime, though, so I hope you're a better shot than before."

Turning, and gesturing the other woman to walk deeper into the ship with her, Kala continues, "And never you worry about rank, you know it's not something I ever cared much about. I only accepted the promotion they offered me because they kept pestering me about it. Come on, we're about to lift off, I'll introduce you to the others. We'll be happy to have someone with your skills with us. How much did the Commander tell you about the mission?"

Tossing her own gear into one of the other open single rooms, Kala gestured for Amalie to do likewise as they went in search of Zane and Gakli.
OOC:
Regarding the quarters, I was mostly joking, lol. Glad to see you joining us, Red. Looking forward to getting this show on the road for Formos.

Amalié walked alongside Kalavera, arms clasped behind her back and her deep blue cloak trailing behind her. Her thoughts touched briefly on the other woman's use of the pejorative of "The Force". It wasn't something she held much stock in herself but she had grown used to her friends faith in the old religion.

Leaning slightly forward to catch Kala's eye in her peripheral vision Amalié answered her questions. "It's good that you finally did accept. I seem to recall your intial refusal on our last mission. I said then that the Alliance needs good leaders when they can get them."

Deciding to relent Amalié resumed her impecable posture "But I digress. The Commander was characteristically vague about the mission, in fact. Irritating, but I suppose it's his want. We are to fly to Formos, make contact with some sort of informant, ascertain the validity of their information and take appropriate action as we deem. Well, I suppose as you deem, but that's neither here nor there."
Feb 23, 2020 6:40 am
OOC:
Okay @Cavalier please retcon if you are planning on doing so because currently your gear is in one of the single rooms which are not in the cockpit module
Feb 23, 2020 6:44 am
Gakli's high pitched voice was even higher as he poked his head out of the engineering bay, "We're going where!?"
Feb 23, 2020 9:58 am
"Formos. Zane knows that bit already. As I said, once we're in hyperspace I'll fill in the rest of the details. If we're cleared to depart, Zane, take us away at your leisure, please." Kala called out towards the cockpit as she turned and took a quick tour of the ship. It wasn't fancy, but then again, it didn't need to be, and in fact, being less fancy would help them blend in more, which was something she definitely approved of. Not knowing much about ships, her quick look over was more to ensure that all the necessary supplies had been loaded rather than appraisal of the ship itself. She suspected that the Commander wouldn't have assigned them Gakli if he didn't know how to do his job and she was willing to trust in that.
Feb 24, 2020 11:13 am
Zane completes the start-up sequence and as the engines fire up he activates the internal comms:

"This is your milk run to Formos. The destruction of the galactic government may interfere with your flight today. The New Rebel Republic Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused. Now strap in and hold on tight to any valued belongings."

As he completes the last word Zane punches the throttle.
Feb 24, 2020 4:20 pm
OOC:
Okay I deleted that message to remove the dice but forgot you had text within it -- my bad and my apologies however I think you can either add that to your current post with a minor edit or just leave it as it is up to you -- again my apologies
The internal motion dampeners compensate for the initial thrust as Zane lifts off, shoots out, moves off planet and begins heading to a point where it will be safe for him to engage the hyperdrive giving him time to plot the hyperspace coordinates he was going to be using for their flight. For a rather unimpressive looking freighter Zane is pleasantly surprised to find out that it handles about as good as a Y-Wing and, although configured differently, with about the same amount of firepower as well.
Feb 26, 2020 4:05 am
Kalavera chuckles as Zane gets on the comms just before taking off and continues her quick tour of the ship, wrapping up in the cabin she'd claimed as her own. Quickly sorting out her gear, she stowed it in rapid order, well used to both the packing and unpacking aspects of having been part of a mobile rebel cell. By the time she was getting the last of her gear put away, she felt the ships hyperdrive kick on and felt the unmistakable shift that meant they'd jumped to light speed. She had asked, subtly, throughout her time in the Rebellion, and while most people noticed something, be it the engines spinning up, or a subtle lurch in the shift, no one else she'd encountered had Sensed the shift to hyperspace quite like she did. Putting it off as her long, nearly forgotten Jedi sensitivities, Kala hit the intercom button in her room and said, "Good work, Zane, come join us in the lounge once you've got everything settled in for the trip up there, ok? Everyone else, head to the ship's lounge and I'll give you information about what we're going to be doing for the foreseeable future..."
Feb 26, 2020 9:12 am
"Prepare to jump to light speed"

Again, just as Zane gives the warning he punches the light speed controls.

He hears Kala's message across the com, double checks the ship's nav computer and saunters through to the lounge.

Looking at Kala, checking for rank insignia, he grins and asks:

"So, what are we blowing up in the name of peace this week?"

Spending a little time printing out some flimsies with the picture of their contact and other information, Kalavera looks up as she hears folks moving into the lounge area. Smiling she gestures for everyone to take a seat before standing up. Handing out the sheets to Gakli, Zane, and Amalie, Kala moves to where she address the group with craning her neck too far before saying, "At the moment, no one Zane. For the first part of this mission we're simply doing some recon work. The Rebellion, New Republic, whatever we're going to call ourselves from here out, got some information from a contact on Formos. The quality of the intel is suspect as this is a new contact. So we're being sent to meet with this guy, a Duros named Banu, and see what sort of information he has. Once we have it, we'll check it out and see if it's something that the higher ups want to take action on. Any questions?"
Mar 2, 2020 7:29 pm
"Okay, okay we go to Formos but Gakli he stay on ship while we there, he no like Formos. It not a nice place, especially to his species, heck the entire Hutt Space is very unkind to his species probably worse place for Gakli to go. So you have good luck on your mission and know that the ship will be ready to leave at a moments notice or sooner."
Mar 3, 2020 4:04 am
Kalavera smiled down at the little mechanic and nodded as she said, "Don't worry Gakli, you don't have to leave the ship if you don't want to. In fact, it doesn't hurt to have someone stay on board, just in case. Any other concerns?"
Mar 3, 2020 3:11 pm
"None from me"
Mar 3, 2020 11:37 pm
Nodding, Kala looking around towards Amelie and, seeing no questions from her friend, she turned back and smiled before saying, "Excellent. Well, I think we all ought to get settled in for the trip to Formos. Let's hope this mission ends up being as easy as it sounds..."

With a smile, she left the meeting, heading to her bunk to finish unpacking. For the majority of the trip to Formos, Kalavera would split her time between studying up on any information she could find regarding the Duro they're going to meet and helping Gakli to make the ship a more livable place. She's fairly skilled with a wrench and is happy helping out wherever she's needed.

Okay Kalavera needs to make a Underworld Knowledge check -- note only roll the positive dice associated with this check I will roll the negative dice

Also make a Mechanics check -- again only the positive dice associated with the check
Kala's excursion into the Engineering Bay was nothing less than interesting as various junk littered the floor in various states of assemblage or dis-assemblage and while the room looked like utter chaos she soon discovered that it was a sort of organized chaos as when she would ask what something was Gakli would answer telling her what it was, what state it was in, and what other parts about the room it was associated with. From what she could gather he had several partial droids that he was trying to make a single operational droid out of as well as various currently unessential ship parts that were in various states of repair. Apparently Gakli also had a rather extensive shopping list of items he needed in order to finish at least 80% of what was littering the floor. Still, there were plenty of other things that she could work on to utilize her skills and keep her busy but nothing currently critical just regular day to day maintenance kind of stuff which Gakli was more than happy to let her do.

The trip through hyperspace was thankfully quite uneventful and Kala actually got quite a bit of maintenance work done however her research into Duro turned up nothing on him other than he hired out as a navigator and nothing more. However, her endeavors did seem to turn up a buzz filtering through the lower register of the underworld contracts for hire network. Something big was going on as there were several recent rather high paying bounties which try as she might she could not get the details on because apparently the issuer and the target were being kept on a need to know basis and she was not considered someone worthy of that status. While that was not unusual per-sae to have more than one pop-up like this at nearly the same time from what appeared to be different issuers with such a high fee gave her the feeling the target was the same but who could warrant such a recent bounty. She was already aware that most of the higher-profile individuals of the Rebellion and Empire already had contracts out on them so who could be this new and yet this important. However, by the time she had gotten this information she was already out of communication with the Alliance so there was no alerting them or checking with them on who it might be, she would just have to keep an eye on it and see what she could dig up on her own.

Zane, while a bit rough and self-absorbed, was at least a fairly decent pilot from what she could tell and Gakli a competent engineer who like to fiddle with gadgets nearly constantly seemed to be good at what he did and the ship seemed fairly sound. Of Amalie was her normal self and she could spend some time talking to her from time to time.

Finally the warning alarm echoed throughout indicating that they were about to drop out of hyperspace which meant they were nearly at the destination. The drop out of hyperspace and the quick flight to Formos was just as smooth as the time in hyperspace but Kala felt on edge, something was there. Something more than that mysterious bounty or maybe it was that just augmented by the general atmosphere of the region but she could feel the undercurrent none-the-less and it communicated danger. Zane finally brought the ship into the landing area on Formos which was near to where they were meet now she had to put together whom she was going to take with her if anyone to meet this individual.
OOC:
Okay going to get this moving again -- will NPC the PCs as necessary so play your character as she would be and I will fill as needed with whomever you feel should be part of this meet and greet.

"We are now arriving on Formos. Please take all of your baggage with you as you depart the ship. We hope that you will choose the Epoch Raven for all your future insurgency needs"

Finishing his speech over the intercom, Zane rose from the pilot's seat and went into his cabin to don his armour.
Mar 15, 2020 5:23 am
Hearing Zane announcing their arrival at Formos, Kala finished adjusting her armor as well. She didn't necessarily like wandering around in her, it was heavy and got to be hot after a while, but it was better than being shot in the back without any protection. Pulling a heavier cloak on over the top to help conceal it all, she belted her utility belt on, checked her blaster in the holster, and made a last quick check of her gear. Her urban compass, lock breaker, and commlink were in her pouch, she could feel the combat knife riding in its sheath in her boot, and a pat of her hand told her that her datapad, some glow rods, and a few stims were tucked safely away as well. Inside the heel of her boot was a concealed compartment that held her lock picks, you never knew when you might need 'em.

Satisfied that she was ready to go, she headed out to the common area on the ship to await the others before going to meet up with the Duro...
Mar 15, 2020 7:13 pm
Amalie spent most of the trip enjoying her time in space. Being aboard a ship, even one as outdated as this one, always brought a feeling of joy to the young human. Time seemed to fly and before Amalie knew it they had arrived at their destination.

The Kuat native dressed in some of her finer clothes, the same set she had boarded the ship in, rather than strap into her Republic issue body armor. While it certainly put her at some risk if bolts began to fly Amalie considered the more diplomatic, and more alluring, outfit to be more appropriate for this negotiation aspect of the mission.

Still, she was not imprudent. Her heavy blaster hung from her hip in a somewhat obvious display that would hopefully deter aggression. It would also help keep people from looking for the holdout blaster safely hidden under her blouse at the small of her back.

After insuring her appearance was adequate and her hair piece was safely clipped in place; Amalie finally made her way to the central common area of the ship.

"Kala, you look dashing as always." The compliment rolled easily off the young woman's tongue, in truth out of more habit than genuine assessment. That wasn't to say Kala didn't cut a striking figure, but Amalie found such things held little true interest for her. "I must ask, your pilot. Is he always so..." flippant? childish? neither seemed right but the word wouldn't quite come to her "... Like that?"

Zane begins to over hear what was being said "I must ask, your pilot..." then a cockpit buzzer goes off drowning out the rest and requiring his attention. A proximity alert which seemed odd and a quick check had him discover that another ship was headed in on a landing trajectory for the spot they were currently occupying. If nothing was done they might actually land right on top of them.
OOC:
And the chance to over hear a 2 or 3 not sure which going to roll the high end to see if it makes a difference

Kala glances towards the cockpit where she can thinks she can hear something buzzing, but knowing that Zane was probably still up there, she didn't give it much thought as she turned to smile Amalie. With a shrug she said, speaking softly, "Honestly, your guess is as good as mine at this point. The Commander assigned him for this mission, so he must have skills, but I really don't know much about him. Also, thanks, I do try my best... Actually, that's a lie, I just don't want to get shot in the back in case this is a trap, and needed a way to cover the armor at least a little."

Finishing with a laugh, she did a fake twirl as though showing off her outfit. Style had never been high on her priorities, having expected to spend her life in Jedi brown and white it never really registered as something she should care overmuch about. Then after it all fell apart, well, she had other worries occupying her attention. So by the time she had a chance to care, she found she really just didn't.

Over the intercom Zane shouts

"Kala, we have incoming."

Switching to a general traffic control com channel

"Incoming ship, this docking port is occupied. Say again, landing pad 4 is occupied. Reverse course immediately"

Zane then attempts to fire up the Epoch Raven, starting with the shields
OOC:
not sure what to roll for that

Piloting (space)

Zane's quick response and expert handling of the ships comm, shields, and repulsors allows the other ship to narrowly abort its decent making it a mere close call rather than a collision that would have meant time lost to making repairs assuming they would have been able to find the necessary parts.

Still the fact that this had happened so close after they had landed made Zane pretty sure it was just an isolated incident due to poor response time on the port landing registration and poor piloting something that happened from time to time on back worlds such as this. However a secondary check did verify that they were now on the landing registration occupying landing pad 4 so that should prevent any further foolish pilots from landing there while they remained on that register.
Mar 18, 2020 7:21 am
Zane mutters to himself as he brings the ship to rest.

"Well, that was interesting. Ridiculous excuse for a traffic control system."

As the ship settles back onto the landing pad and he begins to power it down, Zane's voice comes over the intercom.

"The Epoch Raven would like to apologise for the brief unscheduled departure from Formos. The local trafficcontrol appears to be attempting to set a new record for incompetence. The situation has now been resolvedso please feel free to disembark at your leisure."
Mar 18, 2020 5:17 pm
Leaning against the table which she had braced herself with when the ship began taking sudden maneuvers a few moments earlier, Kalavera refrained from running up towards the cockpit, more to yell at the apparently incompentent idiots at the traffic control for the spaceport than for any other reason and instead took a deep breath. Looking over at Amalie, she couldn't help the wry grin that crept onto her face and said, "Well, I'm not sure if I promised an interesting trip, but it looks like we're getting one anyway... Let's hope that's the last of it for at least a little while. Once Zane gets us settled in, we can head out to meet this Duros."

Amalié felt as though her heart had just finished leaping into her throat. The sudden departure and quick landing had sent small items skidding about the dining cabin. Her own hands unclenched from the table as she eyed her surroundings. The reverie of her danger instinct was only disrupted by Kala's voice.

Amalié mirrored Kala's smirk, though with a touch of unease "Excitement is always welcome. I would not be in this line of work otherwise. Though, I would certainly prefer a larger ship... Perhaps a Mon Cal Cruiser. That would be exciting." Amalié rose to her feet and made her way to the gangway with Kala. "This Zane, he seems capable, even if he is a bit odd. I suppose we'll just have to see."
