Hello all, some of you may remember me from such posts as these:
- 1st Post
- 2nd Post
Welp, I learned a big lesson since then. I chatted about that lesson here with a few folks.
The short story is that I came here to Gamers Plane unprepared. My game simply wasn't ready to be tested.
(If you just want to learn about the game, check out the spoiler of the premise below.)
My goal here with this post is to finally get a playtest going for YOU, but I'm also interested in the following if you don't want to test:
- Feedback on the games page here on Gamers Plane. How does it look? Am I missing anything?
- Feedback on the "Quick Rules" found there. Is it too much? Is it not compelling in some way?
- Feedback on the Rules Doc (which you can comment directly onto), which is mostly the same as the Quick Rules doc, but used more for live tests, than PbP's.
I would love to have anyone who is interested in testing, but if you're not, I'm just as interested in why that is? The kind of feedback I get explaining "what isn't working for you" is just as valuable as the testing itself.
For those of you reading all this who have checked out the game before and recognize some of my older posts, it would be interesting and valuable to hear a second opinion from you based on how I've altered everything.
Thanks for your time everybody!

[ +- ] The Premise
In YOU, you’ll recreate yourself and play out your actions as you might in real life or - if you take the risk - in a way you have always wished you could or hoped you might. Playing YOU always starts off with the same question - "what would you do if?" What would you do if an asteroid was on a collision course with Earth? What would you do if you were investigated for a crime you didn’t commit? What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island far out at sea? Identifying your strengths and using them to overcome these challenges is one way to play YOU, but taking risks using Traits you struggle with is another.
In YOU, you’ll uncover the uniqueness of your personality and how it informs the types of decisions you make. If you aren’t very Assertive for example, you may struggle to voice your opinion often, but this also allows you to be taken more seriously when you do. No Trait you evaluate about yourself is rated on a "scale" of proficiency, but a Degree in which you use it. You can struggle with being overly Assertive just as much as being someone who rarely is. As you recreate yourself and evaluate your Traits, you will identify your Impulses and Reservations, then choose whether you act on them or resist these temptations during situations that you create yourself during play. Choosing to act "out of character" by resisting these things will begin to impact your personality, with enough successful attempts permanently altering who you are and how you tend to behave.
The Growth you make playing YOU is as you determine it. The wish to be more Empathic, less Bold, more Assertive - it’s entirely up to you to pursue and to change.
