THE CITY OF DELPHI
In the Ages before Man, Zeus released two eagles, one to the east and another to the west, and Delphi was the point at which they met after encircling the world, and that spot was marked by a stone called the omphalos (the world-navel). A great serpent - Python - guarded these grounds as sacred, until Apollo came and slew the tyrant beast so that Man might receive the wisdom of the gods... And it was for this reason, and on this spot, that Man constructed the most glorious Sanctuary of Apollo in all the world...
THE SANCTUARY OF APOLLO
To commemorate the triumph of Apollo over Python, Man built Him a temple. There they could receive the wisdom of the gods spoken from the mouth of a priestess of Apollo, that wisdom drawn from the very wisdom of the world... This compound would become a center of learning, a center for the arts, a center of worship of many of the gods, and a center for the celebration of achievement and the victories of Man. The Sanctuary of Apollo was the heart of the Center of the World.

The Temple of Apollo is the origin of all light and good fortune in Man. For a time, it was even His home. But forever it would be a font of wisdom. The Temple would be thronged with pilgrims from across the ancient world. Generals, kings, and individuals of all ranks came to the Oracle of Delphi, here, to seek advice on the best course to take in everything from war and politics to love and family.
