Feng Shui, by Robin Laws and Atlas Games, has been one of my favourite RPGs for the past nearly 20 years. Rules light, intuitive and conducive to high action, Feng Shui was accurately subtitled as Action Movie Roleplaying.

Characters start out as world beaters, rather than in games like D&D where you start out as crippled ignorant farmer babies, fair game to housemice and mildly distracted squirrels. Instead, you start off as capable as a James Bond, a Batman, a Lara Croft, or a Russell Crowe as Russell Crowe in Russell Crowe: The Movie. A staple of Feng Shui are the mooks - no one knows where the bad guy hires so many mooks, but the heroes mow through them with reckless abandon.

Recently, Atlas Games had a Kickstarter for Feng Shui 2: Kick Butt, Blow Things Up, Save the World.

I backed it eagerly, but since I received the beautiful leatherette tome, I haven't had a chance to run it IRL.

The game I'm thinking about will start off as a modern day archaeological mission for the Fountain of Youth, but in the world of Feng Shui, wuxia-like action sequences are never far away.

Anyone interested in kicking butt and/or blowing things up and/or saving the world?

So I was gonna start work on L5R as the next system (once I think I finished the forum update), as it got a GREAT response on Twitter (plus, it'd get Jim McClure to start playing on GP :D), but as I did recently add the Feng Shui dice roller, maybe I should add that next...?

I wouldn't worry about character sheets, they're fairly simple and not crucial so I think they'll work fine as untyped characters. The characters all start out as one of 32 archetypes with very little customization.

If you did want to set up a blank, here is a link to the Dirty Dozen archetype sampler.

Yes, I'll play, with enthusiasm, training, and power.

Would I need any rulebooks or other material in order to play? If not, I'm in.

Rulebooks are for wimps and communists. [Looks at his giant set of shelves of RPG rulebooks.] Errmmm, no books required, it's a straight forward game and the archetype sheets contain most of info you need for a character.

So four is about the limit I'm comfortable with for an action game. I'll set up the game probably tomorrow and we can talk about setting, premise and character setup.

If you're ok without char sheets for a bit, I'll keep with the forum upgrades and L5R for now. What I will do is add it as a system without a char sheet, since I can do that now. I'll probably wanna add a flag on the Systems page so people know which systems have char sheets.

This'll also be a good test of the Feng Shui dice roller. Keep me posted on that.
