I have a name chosen, stats are mostly settled in.

I don't think there are ring bonuses for each clan, right?

I also assume that the expectation is not to have points put into every vocation but to focus on a few that round out the character?

Going to give some thought to aspects. I think one will be wanting to be the next emerald champion as the first came from the Crane Clan.

Is the rule that we can have up to 5? or that we must have 5?

For bonds, I rolled a 104 and 107 the bonds spreadsheet stops at 100. Do I just carry over into the next column?

Wanting to be the next Emerald Champ is good motivation, but is there any counterpart to it ?
Is there a way that Aspect could also complicate the life of your character ?

You should have 5 Aspects, but you can choose those while playing if you have not enough idea on the creation process.

I'm sorry, i wasn't clear. You don't have to sum the 3 dice for the bonds, just roll those and read those individually.

So just roll a d100 without the 2 d6?

You roll a d100, then a d6, then another d6, and those results aren't meant to be added.
D100 selects the clan/family/vocation of that relationship.
First D6 expresses the mastery of that contact on his vocation.
Second D6 shows how this bond is close to your character, and the loyalty that comes with that proximity.

Indeed, no ring bonus with the Clan.

That's up to you. The original L5R game tends to favor experts characters. Here, you have the choice to be a specialist, or a Jack of all trades.
I'll make room for both, because i think that what you put on your character sheet shows what you want to play.

The only requirement here is that it has to be coherent with the background.

ok, updated the bonds on my CS. Is it possible to make the rows of the bonds another cell longer in length?

You can arrange the sheet the way you want ;)

With the Scheme, giving advantage on initiative during a duel, how would/could that be done from a mechanics perspective in your rules?

I only see 4 Aspects, you said 5 ?

From the ones i can see right now, i'm just wondering about the first one, can you explain it to me ? The others are great :)

As for the Scheme, i guess you'll go with 4 Honor Ranks then.
If i understand it well, it is supposed to give you the winning initiative everytime ?

Ok, I wanted to make sure I had the right idea about schemes and Aspects before continuing with them. I'll probably come up with one or two more then.

The Scheme would be winning initiative, yes, but only in a duel not otherwise so the scope is more narrow.

As for the first aspect, it would apply in, say, a battle. Taking me hostage instead of killing me outright.

Sounds fair enough to me.

For that scheme, just be aware that winning initiative in duel is the specialty of the Kakita family, so it probably won't work with your brothers and sisters. Not as much as with other families though.

But again, you probably won't need to duel another member of your family, except maybe for training purpose.

basically playing into the inventive and creative aspect of fire and problem solving.

also added a scheme: Secrets: 'you never forget a secret you have heard and instinctively know if something is common knowledge or information someone wants concealed'

re-reading your rule book, is there a reason to hold onto honor points? Or am i better off just spending them all on Schemes?

Honor/Fate points allows you to activate Aspects, so yes those have their utility.

Moreover, your Honor rank serves as your reputation as well, like in the original L5R.

I'm ok with your new Aspect and Scheme.

And for your last question, it's up to you, at the creation at least.
You can't have less than 1 Honor rank at the creation, which lets you have 4 Schemes to begin with at max.

Except for that mandatory condition, you can make the combination you want between:
- 5 Honors, 0 Scheme
- 4 Honors, 1 Scheme
- 3 Honors, 2 Schemes
- 2 Honors, 3 Schemes
- 1 Honor, 4 Schemes

Depending if you want to favor the use of your Aspects or of your Schemes.

As for your character, you have to create a character in the GP Menu Characters.
Sheet: Custom. And you can add an avatar.

Once created, you can apply that character in the game menu, into the L5R game, and then, i'll approve him.
When done, you will have a "Post As: [Player / Kakita ...]" drop down list just below the quick reply title.
