Slippery Jack MacDonald

The video starts up and shows a troll sitting talking into the camera. He looks to be around 8'6" and upwards of 700 pounds. He has the usual lumpy skin, rams horns, and troll good looks.

Hi Suzie, it's your brother again. I am not sure if you getting these or not. I wish you would get back to me.

I sigh and rub one massive hand over my horns.

I am in Neo Tokyo now. The job I was telling you about took me here. I got paid, but they refused to pay for my trip home. I figured I might as well stay here and do some work.

I will call you soon. Love you Suzie.

I sign off and reflect on how I ended up here. Neo Tokyo is a long way from Prince Edward Island in the UCAS.
My family was one of 4 crime families, but the first to have a troll born to it.
My family saw me as an investment and once I hit puberty, they started paying for top notch cyberware. It paid off for the family. They gained more power on the strength of my blades and guns. But when I was in Toronto for my final surgery, the other families killed all the adults in my family. They told me that if I came home, they would kill the kids. I haven't been back since.

I am sitting on a reinforced chair in Jersey Joe's Jin Joint, playing cards with Miyashi. The Weasel shaman was winning. He always won, I think he cheats...but he is good company.

I have been living above the bar for about 3 months now. Miyashi and I are neighbours. Jersey Joe took us both under his wing. I get free room and board as long as I help Tiny watch the door.
Now, Tiny doesn't need help often. He is taller, heavier, stronger, and uglier than I am.

Jersey Joe's is an odd bar. It is a hang out for runners and ex-runners. What makes it odd, is the complete "No Mr. Johnson" policy. The owners are four former runners. The rumour is that they were hired as a decoy team, but managed to get the information out. They sold it to the highest bidder and quit the business.

Jersey Joe: I assume Joe was the face for the group. He is a good looking, good humoured, human. I have heard him speak a lot of different languages and he has a port, so I assume some skill wires.

Tiny: Tiny was obviously the muscle. I am not ashamed to say that I doubt I would last 30 seconds in a fair fight. And I don't think he would fight fair.

Elayna: As tough as Tiny is, it is Elayna that scares me. She waits tables and as she moves through a crowd, she touches no one. She moves like footage I have seen of jungle cats. I am not sure if she is an adept, or what...but i would not cross her.

Blake: Blake doesn't come down very often. He is a rigger and stays upstairs watching drone footage of the exterior of the building.

There is a staff and a broken deck over the bar. Probably two members of the crew who didn't make it out.

Miyashi and weasel watch the astral plane in return for room and board.

The last rumour is that there is a huge house spirit who protects the building as well.

The one time that I had to give any back up to Tiny, also showed why my "job" is really charity...not a needed position.

One Friday night there was about 35 people in the bar. Thete was a loud roar outside and about 12 bikers came in. It was a Go Gang. All dressed in leather and carrying Katanas on their back. Some had machine guns out, and one had a staff.
The leader walked up to Tiny and told him that they were taking over for the night, and to kick everyone out. I got up to stand beside Tiny and let my hand razors show through. I could hear Miyashi start to mutter something...maybe a spell, maybe just random swearing.

Just when it looked like the bikers were going to fight it out, I heard about 30 guns all cocking at once. I glanced behind me and nearly every customer in the bar had an Ares handgun or a shotgun aimed at the gang. The ones with no guns were holding staves and/or chanting.

Let's go, this dump isn't worth it.

Once the gang made their swift exit, all the guns went away, the magic dissipated, and Joe bought a round for the house.

I pity the crew that comes for Jersey Joe's.

I've got just a few tweaks to ease you into the setting. Jack made it to Tokyo only recently, 3 weeks rather than 3 months.

I'm going to take down the power level in the bar, so that if the PCs are going to end up frequenting the joint, it'll revolve around them more than the NPCs. I'm keeping Jersey Joe and Miyashi. But I like what you've done with fleshing out the others, so I'll rule that they are regulars who come and go, rather than owners.

The potential plot complication for Jack's backstory is that his past might just be slowly catching up with him. I've started your thread.
