Bookmarking Rolls

So, I got tired of typing in the same rolls over and over again. And I've typed enough different rolls that the drop-down auto-complete is getting inefficient, too. So I decided to Get Nerdy With It (TM).

Yeah, I'm a certified nerd (seriously, I have a degree to prove it). Of course, at first I just started dreaming of creating my own PBP forum that would integrate the character stats into predefined shortcuts drop-downs. Select a skill, click add. Select a save, click add. Select a weapon, click add. And much more. But that's pipedreams.

Then I simplified it (speaking relatively) and figured out a way to "bookmark" dice rolls, using an interesting feature of most modern browsers. Bookmarks save URLs for websites, and allow you to click them and go to them. But, website developers wanted to be able to do things on their page instead of load another page when someone clicked a link, so they added the ability for a link URL to be interpreted as an action (technically javascript action). It's very useful, and came with a bonus side effect: you can actually create bookmarks of those action javascripts. These are called bookmarklets. I didn't name them.

So I went about figuring out how to make one for a dice roll on the forums. Which I successfully did. But I didn't want to have to hand write each bookmarklet, that would be annoying, and wouldn't be very shareable. So I decided to write a second bookmarklet. This bookmarklet would generate dice roll bookmarklets from what you enter into the Dice Roll interface! Unfortunately, it can't actually add the bookmarklet to your browsers bookmarks (otherwise most websites would automatically add itself to your bookmarks without even asking). But it does generate the "url" and let you copy it. Which you can then use to make the bookmarklet yourself.

So how does that sound? Would you like to be able to create bookmarks for your most common rolls? I'm loving it, and have already created some basic ones for my main attacks, as well as bonuses. If you want to try it out, check out the instructions I made (because I'm a nerd, again) for setting it up in Google Chrome. You should be able to do it in other browsers, but I use Chrome, so I made the instructions with it. Here's a link to the Google Doc of my instructions for using the bookmarklet:
