This thread is for discussing dankel's character please do not post anything here that is not related to dankel's character and yes collaborating with dankel is consider fair postings.

Please make all rolls in here and outline what you are are doing so that I can give you feedback on the world. Do note though this game borrows heavily from the Forgotten Realms so you can use information from that setting to outline your background.

I have decided my character is going to be a Cleric of the War Domain, a follower of Tyr. I will produce a back story once I've rolled him but I see him as an ex soldier who has had an epiphany which has driven him to take up holy orders.

(135) = 9

Attribute Generation - (3D6)

Ok so removing the lowest and adding 6 makes 14, 15, 16, 18, 16 and 13, As a human he gets a plus +1 on each attribute so that gives him the following

Str 16
Dex 15
Con17
Int 14
Wis 19
Cha 17

His name is Magnus and he comes from the Sword Coast area.

Hit Points 1st leve1 8+3 =11

At +3 for constitution bonus per level that gives a total of 30 hit points

Magnus backstory - Magnus Cleric - War Domain

Magnus grew up as the 3rd son of a prosperous farmer in the countryside surrounding the great city of Baldurs Gate. From his youth it was clear that he was a talented lad who could be a success at whatever he turned to in life. Being a 3rd son he was never going to inherit the farm and he had little interest in managing a farm. His thoughts turned to glory and his parents arranged for Magnus to join the Flaming fists, the Mercenary Company who acted as the military arm for Baldurs Gate.
Magnus proved to be an exemplarily soldier, proficient with weapons, intelligent and a horseman and rose to become a Manip (equivalent to a sergeant).
About five years ago he was leading a group of 10 cavalry of the Fist on a routine mission to reinforce a fort when the group was ambushed by a much larger party of Orcs. The small group of Flaming Fists sold their lives dearly, fighting to the last man. Magnus was left for dead underneath his horse and would have died but was rescued by some local farmers who came across the battle scene a day or so later. In what he thought were his last gasps Magnus swore he would dedicate his life to serving Tyr, the god of war and justice, protecting the weak, if his life was spared.
On his recovery, Magnus knew his life had changed for ever. The Flaming Fists agreed to release him and he went to straight to the nearest Temple of Tyr and dedicated himself to the god. He now leads a wondering life, looking to protect the weak against the evil strong.

Magnus is a well built man of slightly above average height. He has brown hair and fairly unremarkable, amiable features, his only distinguishing mark being a scar across his forehead from the fight with the Orcs. He is usually softly spoken, although when the occasion calls for it he can raise his voice in a sergeants bark.

He is dedicated to protecting the weak and standing up for justice. He cannot abide cruelty or dishonesty, especially from those in authority, although he accepts physical combat against evil doers as a necessity, he tries to avoid killing unless there is no reasonable alternative.

I've uploaded the character sheet for Magnus, will update with his weapons and other equipment when you add the weapons list.

One question - would it be advantageous to start with a horse, I am considering this.

Horse while nice is probably not going to get used a lot, due to the predominant terrain and such, if I had to venture a guess at best maybe 25% of the entire time which means an ongoing expense that you get little usage from. Further you can rent a horse if needed or requisition one from the Garrison if you are doing official business and need one. Further horse's are horrible for adventuring being too delicate while a mule is much better and might see more use than a horse overall but then again due to aspects of the game you may have to figure out what you are going to do with the animal when you go some place it cannot or will not go.

For instance, if the group goes into the Marsh, you will not be able to take any normal animals with you as they will simply refuse to go.
