The players find themselves in a 30x30 torch-lit room in which every wall is crammed with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Each wall has one door leading to identical rooms, and so on. Faint marks on the floor show the path of previous racers, if any player has the skill to follow it. Some of those books look like they could be useful, though...
Node would be a maze of nearly-identical rooms, with L/C resolutions. Players could investigate books, possibly finding useful info in addition to the exit's directions; players could attempt to track previous racers (although there's no guarantee said racers knew where they were going); players could just strike out at random and hope to stumble on the exit (I can't decide whether the library should be infinite or not); players could set fire to the place and make the going easier after it's burnt down (assuming they survive that).
...hmm. Needs a more exciting element somewhere; this IS a race after all. Fell librarians? Ghost books? Rotten flooring?
