So, I just read the entirety of Working for Bigfoot, and as always I now want to run a Dresden Files RPG pbp. In the interest of time and ease of access for experienced and new players I'd like to run something using the Neverglades from Book 3: The Paranet Papers. I did the same thing once before on another forum using the Las Vegas chapter and it worked really well. Don't get me wrong, I love city building, but it can take a so long in text format that I've just seen to many games die on the vine.

For the record I have run Dresden Files RPG pbp games in the past, and played in them on a few occasions. I've also read all of the books in the series up through Skin Game. This would be a game set after Changes with all of the implications that come along with that.

Here's an official sneak peek of the chapter featuring the region from the Paranet Papers in case anyone wants to get an idea of what we'd be working with.

I checked the forum and a while ago there was some interest in a Dresden game, but it seems like there wasn't a GM available. I'm hoping to get 3-4 players, but if there isn't enough interest that's fine too. I'm happy to take first time players, but I do ask that folks have read the Dresden Files books up through Changes.

It really is a great game, do you have the book? If not are you familiar with any of the other games that use FATE?

I have access to the book. Never done any FATE stuff, so I'm gonna be a complete noob

That's cool. One of my favorite things about FATE is it is really easy to learn. You still working your way through the Dresden Files books?

Waiting on Peace Talks. I just finished the first book of Butcher's new series not long ago...and I've considered re-reading the Codex Alera.

Jim Butcher is a helluva drug.

Yeah, I can't wait for the next book!

Butters is my hero. And I want a Bob.

Butters is everyone's hero. I don't think I could handle a Bob.

Must not be a horde of polka fans on the forum.

Quasimodo polka is best polka

What power level?
Apr 23, 2016 12:31 am
I am thinking Chest Deep at the moment.

Sorry, I'm like 1800 miles from my books. What level is that point/examples wise?
Apr 23, 2016 3:24 am
Chest Deep 8 refresh, 30 skill points, skill cap at Superb. At this level all of the character types are available, although if you a play a wizard you're probably not a very experienced one.

What post frequency are we talking about?

I've read all the novels through Skin Game, but it's been a couple years, so I'm not fresh. Also, my experience with Play-by-post is one game I run through Google Docs with another pbp rookie, so if there are etiquette rules that all pbp-ers know, I'll probably step on them a good bit.

I'd like folks to be able to post at least once a day, but if we can manage more the game can move faster.

I have a bunch of character concepts in my mind.

How about a True Believer/White Court Virgin mashup? Basically, he was kidnapped by the church and raised as a weapon against his own kind. Minor emotional manipulation, risk of turning into a full-blooded white, so on and so forth.

The last Red Court Infected? Wanted to be turned, but his sire and the rest of the court all died before the transformation could be completed. Learning what happened, he fears completing the transformation on the chance that he would be destroyed just like them (he doesn't necessarily know the full story, since logically he would know he's safe).

Former Winter Knight (probably using "Emissary of Power")? It has been strongly hinted to Dresden that it is possible to escape the mantle. What if there is someone who already has? He retains a semblance of the power, but if any of the Winter Queens find out he's alive, they can exercise power over him.

Pure Mortal who was a con-man/charlatan until he stumbled on an artifact of power. Now he basically collects magical trinkets to give him an edge in the supernatural community, though he has no power of his own. (This might not technically be "Pure Mortal" - I'm unclear what it would be otherwise, though.

Interesting concepts, and I think some of them would work pretty well in the Neverglades.
