This thread is for discussing SJoyner72's character please do not post anything here that is not related to SJoyner72's character and yes collaborating with SJoyner72 is consider fair postings.

Please make your rolls in here and outline what your are doing so that I can give you feedback on the world. Do note though this game borrows heavily from the Forgotten Realms so you can use information from that setting to outline your background.

Okay great just be sure to look at all the character creation parameters and house rules -- also if there is a Background you would like that has not been updated please let me know and I will get it updated and posted.

Ok Greta has been submitted.
For human variant I took +1 Str, +1 Dex.

I used a feat from Tasha's - Slasher. If that's not allowed, I can change it up.

Her background:

Greta is one of the only survivors of her tribe the Joteni. Most of her mountain folk village were killed or enslaved by a Yroc war party. Captured as a young girl, she grew up as a thrall in the Thunder Fist Yroc tribe. She was tough, grew strong, learned cunning, and ruthlessness from her captors. Her warrior spirit earned her the favor of the Yroc chieftain Azog the Bloody, his thus his protection. He taught her how to fight, and how to harness the rage that boiled inside her. Her valor was rewarded by Azog, who gifted her a fine sword.

Oona Snake Tongue Azog’s eldest wife taught her the ways of the cult of Gruumsh and how to write in both Yroc and man.



Soon she fought alongside the Thunder Fists reveling in the violence and destruction of Yroc raids. Her fortune turned again when Azog was killed in a duel by Shaskar One Hand. Her position in the tribe lost, she stole away to civilized lands where she earned her keep through different jobs sometimes as hired muscle, others as bounty hunter, sometimes as a tracker.

Now Greta seeks fortune and adventure, craving the thrill of battle.

Greta is filled with unresolved issues relating to the loss of her family, the trauma of her slavery, the death of her father figure, and her displacement from her adoptive tribe.

She’s quick to violence, distrustful of authority, and doesn’t stay in one place for too long.

Okay I looked over Slasher and will allow it as is, one of the few of Tasha's that is not too OP ;)

I also want to stress -- I only run the heroes of the story which means PCs are expected to be one of those heroes -- and I restrict the alignments (which are just guide posts mostly) to (LG, NG, CG, LN) which kind of limits your character to CG from what it sounds like are you going to be okay with that?

Note Yrocs in my world are not inherently evil they just tend to get used by powerfully evil folk because they respect power and females fighting within their ranks is fairly common. Think Celtic warriors if that helps any

Yeah CG is fine. She’s going to be a little self motivated but ultimately make the right choices.

Also if you are not a spell caster -- you have to take Script (written version of a language) as if it were a separate language so as a human you can speak two languages for free so your character knows how to speak : Human and Yroc and as long as you have 2 extra languages you can take Script in both.

For human heritage I suggest Illuskan (they are the more Viking like of the human races) -- also we will say that you learned script from your real mother who was a Nordic style bard. The Illuskan are probably closer in kinship to Yrocs than most other human races although they probably would never admit that. Still their lifestyle and values are fairly close.

Perhaps she served as a bodyguard to one of the caravans coming to Far Reach and then fell in love with the life style taking place in Mamz Inn -- as it is very similar to the Yroc tribe she had been in and it was a mix of Yroc, Uriak and Humans all with similar values. Your thoughts?

Oh and another element I am guessing you missed is you get to start with an additional 750gp in resources -- and there are specialty weapons and armor that can be purchased with that if you like -- not magical just nice quality and special materials

And while we getting that all cleared up you are currently with the group -- so feel free to interact -- your character is basically taking the place of the character called Carric who we lost to RL

So, I can introduce Greta now?

I didn’t see special metals on your price list google doc.
But are there any she should consider?

I spent 750 on potions and a riding horse. If there’s a good reason to get some kind of special metal weapon, I might do that instead of the potions. She doesn’t wear armor, but wields a shield. Same question for special metal shields. Any worth getting?

There are a bunch of items in they character creation house rules. Many give bonuses to AC, weight, to hit and damage. Masterwork and special material items are in there. Expand reach spoiler section to vote details
There are allot of house rules that may impact your character so read this and browse the items.

The equipment stuff is at the bottom of the House Rules -- the Horse will probably be more of a liability than an asset all-things-considered but you can have one if you really want one

A question about combining special materials and masterworked: Would an adamantine longsword cost x125 or x30%?

Also, shields as wepaons, how would that work in game mechanics? Would it count as dual wielding if you attack with sword and then shield bash?

You take the basic Long Sword cost (15gp) x Adamantine Multiplier (x25) x Masterwork Multiplier (+1 x5, +1/+1, x10, +2/+1 x15, +2/+2 x20) -- neither of these are a percentage multiplier

So for a Long Sword Adamantine with Masterwork +2/+2 -- 15gp x 500 = 7,500gp

Yes if you swing a one-handed weapon and then employ your shield as a weapon that is duel wielding and it negates your AC benefit from your shield since you are not using it for protection that round.

Another question regarding shields: is a simple round shield considered a light weapon for dual wielding purposes?

Sorry, more questions: with a barbarian's rage / frenzy, do you consider a grapple or shove as a melee attack? (e.g. could a raging, frenzied barbarian grapple with their attack, and with their bonus attack from frenzy, shove? Would they keep raging even without making an attack with a weapon?)

Opeted to not get a horse based off of DM input. Got an adamantine longsword for extra killyness, and pair of master work tomahawks.
