The time comes a score of breaths later, when the clouds part enough for the pale moon to illuminate the city streets clearly. The figure then moves one gauntleted hand to fix a piece of parchment to the head of a long, slender javelin. Once affixed, with a motion born of innumerable hours of practice, the projectile and message alike are launched forth, the weapon embedding itself deeply into the outer doors of Aconitum Abbey.
As the figure turns and strides away from the scene, the parchment settles beneath the embedded shaft, revealing the writing on its surface.
"I will either find a way, or make one."
Hildr speaks first "The initial findings are worrisome, with a cure out of reach we are limited to more drastic measures of treatment."
Enki scratches his brow " I am aware, it is not ideal but may be the only recourse we have besides attempting diplomacy. I think the court would be unhappy about such an option give what they asked for last time."
Hildr "We cannot spend eternity watching over our shoulders and jumping at shadows as you said."
Enki smiles "Clever using my own words against me, we shall see what others wish to do on the matter. Cybele and the Vulgar one will handle security until an action is decided."
Enki and Hildr head for the door
"My dear friends, I have decided to organize a trek into the tunnels in order to gather more information and to see what it is we are up against. If you are interested in such, please come see us at the Garrison. We leave in 2 nights time.
If you would rather use your resources to stay in the city and protect our Prince, please see Sophie as she will be heading the Shield."
Finn watches an ant crawl across the table before her, she tilts her head and looks at Torston, "Do we have a problem here Sir?"
"I assume Cybele has already filled you in Warden." Enki says turning to Finn "Our options are limited as a cure seems unobtainable they may have to be put down...or reasoned with."
On a good note those were all of the Mongrels that we dealt with and the remaining of the more mortal Kine with them are of little to no threat to us, the bad side to that one is in our caution and zealousness the ones with a better knowledge of the Fomori are no more. Although the dangers in trying to take one of the Lupine alive to question would have outweigh the benefits."
"Why, pray tell, do I only have one half of all of my shoes?" As she speaks a line of ants crosses the floor before her, she suddenly becomes aware of Torston's precarious perch atop his stool. The panic flickers, although she hides it well, "WHAT IN THE BLOODY HELL IS GOING ON HERE!?"
"My Prince, perhaps it may be worth speaking with Giovanni. The one who was shrieking and spitting the year prior and has since vanished? If I recall correctly the Nosferatu have a kinship with insects and other vermin and if we can have them form a coherent sentence they may be of assistance.
May we speak once you have a moment?"
"Ah, Torston. Please, come down from that stool. The ants should not be a problem anymore - there was a rather large colony not far from the Abbey which I have since eradicated."
Her maid brings over a wine decanter and whispers something in her ear. Fury crosses her already exasperated stare,
"AND, WHY is all my wine GREEN!?"
She empties the contents of the decanter onto the floor and storms out of the room.
"It shall be known. I do hope the Prince will see me, I may have some insight into what is happening and will need to enlist Isaacs assistance if she permits it."
Over his shoulder is the broken and pierced form of a massive figure, easily 8 freet tall when standing upright, with a strange, thick outer carapace and knotted muscles underneath. Stopping in the hall, Aserymus heaves the figure over his shoulder and unceremoniously drops it onto the floor.
"A gift for the Prince. A foe defeated in the tunnels below, and a sign of many more foes yet to be defeated. The Spear will seek them out, and finish the task."
With a quick turn on his heel, the Tunisian then exits the way he came, to rest before the first rays of morning light graced the world with their presence once more.
"I am here to make my presence known to the city, the scourge, and the Prince. I am also here to find what has happened to Abdul Wassio"
With that he leans his weight back in his heels and watches.
"Hello newcomer. My name is Isaac and I am scourge of Amsterdam. I'm very glad you came here. I do regret to inform you that Abdul has passed from this world. He was part of a group of us that were hunting a pack of lupines in our city that had already destroyed one of our number. We were successful in our hunt but in the fight Abdul was killed. I'm sorry I didn't get your name? Were you close with Abdul?"
I am the warrior Assan al'Hassim. Abdul was my sire and I was coming to join him in this city of the west. When I arrived I could not find him. Thank you for explaining his fate to me. I claim what was his by right of the blood he gave me, and stand in his stead. I am Assamite."
He turns to Izra'il
"I'll go ahead and get rid of this."
Soph and Gary leave with the body.
"Greetings I am Enki Koldun of Clan Tzimiscie and Harpy of Amsterdam." He pauses for a moment " As you are Abduls childr there is a few matters that need to be discussed as he left behind certain issues that need to be resolved. Once you have had time to grieve and settle in you can seek me out at this address." Enki hands a card to Assan "Your sire was a friend of mine and died protecting the city and you should remember that." Enki returns to his seat
"The simple version is we have dispatched of a number more of these demon possessed individuals, including what appears to be a form of commander that lies before you. We also found further tunnels that lead even deeper beneath the earth in what I am told was the space that Finn was being held in. These lead to a labyrinthine space that we did not have enough time to explore well, and will likely take a dedicated study to fully map out. The leader there also carried a missive indicating some controlling force or individual was guiding the actions of these demons."
Tiresian turns to Torsten, "should you or the Prince wish a fully written missive detailing what was found I would of course be happy to supply such for the court."
"Greetings Assan, boons owed have already been noted."
*Turning to Isaac*
"Scourge Isaac, the Prince has requested we begin searching for some would be guests to Her court. It appears there are some who believes themselves above tradition"
Enki Heads to the door where he meets with his bodyguards and gestures for Assan to follow.
"Let it be known that Aserymus the Lion of clan Brujah and Sophie of clan Salubri have been granted Champion status." She smiles and takes a seat next to Gwynne, only just noticing the new arrival,
"Ah yes young man, who do we have here?" She waits for Assan to respond.
He walks into the center of the room
"First off Congratulations are in Order for Sophie of Clan Salubri is hereby released from accounting. May you enjoy your new status as a Neonate."
Torston smiles before continuing "Next the following members of our court are hereby given the status of Ancilla as per the Master of Harpies and our most Gracious Prince. Henry of Clan Malkavian, Duccio of Clan Lasombra, Enki of Clan Tzimisce, Finn of Clan Salubri, Tiresian of Clan Tremere, Balthazar of Clan Tremere."
I am Assan al'Hassim, Clan Assamite, hear to heed the call of my Sire Abdul Wassio, who I have just been informed is dead. With your leave leave I wish to announce my presence to you and your city and take on the tasks and responsibilities of my sire.
The woman scans the room for a moment seeming to examine each member present like a hawk choosing its next meal. She stops her eyes resting on Torston for a moment, a faint smile appears in the corner of her mouth and then a second later fades.
She speaks her words resoundingly through Elysium's halls like thunder over the hills.
"I heard you had some trouble recently and have brought you more wine my dear Prince. Also I have returned from my journey, the matters I had to attend to have been resolved."
"Hello! I'm Isaac. Its nice to meet you and your friends. I am well aware that wolves are not pets but if it wouldn't be an insult to their dignity would....it be ok if I pet them?"
Finn famous boisterous laugh rings through the halls as Rionach approaches. She listens to the exchange between Isaac and Rionach and before Rionach has chance to respond to Isaac, Finn jumps to her feet,
"Welcome lady...? I'm sorry dear I did not catch your name." Finn motions for the terrified man to place the wine down, "Sophie will be back soon. She can bring those to the Prince."
"Yes mother, I will take these to the Prince at once."
She gestures to the scared man shaking behind her who hands the crate to Gary and then seems to skitter near the door awaiting his masters command. She glances at Torston for a brief moment "Good to see some things stay the same...now." She seems to clap her hands together as if to spread joyous news. This ruse is shattered as her voice like that of a tiger rips threw Elysiums halls "Would someone explain what is going on in my forest, Not a bloody animal in sight."
She mutters to herself and takes a seat "Not to mention the Christans have arrived..." a brief devilish grin comes across the woman's face for a moment and then fades she continues with a certain sharpness to her voice. "Tell me has anyone captured any of these Inquisitors? If so I would gladly trade one for a boon, similarly should someone figure out why the forest is so empty I will do the same."
She glances around the room and upon setting her eyes on the scared man from before she speaks "Worm, Fetch my chair it looks like I will be here for awhile."
The man scurries off at her words out of the gathering avoiding eye contact with anyone.
"I believe the Prince was missing some things?"
"Kristophe my friend! You are alive! How is this possible!?"
" It has been quite busy. I have been looking into whoever has been performing mischief upon the prince in case its an unacknowledged cainite. Where did you find all those shoes"
Duccio's attention trails off as the new arrival dumps the sack of shoes upon the floor his hand reflexively turning the handle of his cane to free the locking mechanism of the blade. Suspicion and disbelief plain on his face Duccio's grip in his cane grows firmer, "Either tales of you demise were grandly over stated or you are not who you appear to be, I think some answers are in order."
Kristophe turns to Duccio, "fear not, it is indeed myself. I would remind that being descended of the clan of Death means one usually has a stronger connection to such things. I'm afraid it's a bit more difficult than that to kill me, and I had preparations made ahead of time should such events as grievous injury to my person occur. And with auspex or the like may feel free to read my aura or attempt to see through any illusion you feel I may be under."
With this he turns now to the Keeper. "When the Prince has a moment, I'm sure she would like these returned, as well I would request a word to discuss the prevention of further Fae mischief within the city, due to the actions of some members of this court."
Duccio then turns to Isaac,
"What is 'against the rules' has always been a flexible standard in regards to any of the fanatical and the Society knows very well the threats supernatural beings possess and know the tools to combat them are limited. It is what makes them very dangerous, the inquisition at large is only vaguely aware that things move in the shadows of the world while that sect knows full well and prepares. "
Duccio turns back to Kristophe his grip loosening on his cane handle but never leaving it, "I can tell you are one of our own, and I hope you have properly gotten ride of the body you recently created, I was worried that the trickster was one of our own kind... But this is just great, do these Fae have attachment to those Kinfolk or is this due to some other issue I am yet to be made aware of? Also I would like a word with you about the events of that night and see if specific actions were malicious or incompetence."
"It is good to see you again Kristophe. One does not dispose of us so easily it seems.
I have already informed the prince of the presence of the Fae. Well, technically, they are Sluagh. I am able to contact them indirectly should we want to set up some kind of meeting, be it diplomatic or something more aggressive."
She looks at the raven, clearly happy that this worked. "Hello! Do you mind telling us what's been killing all the animals lately? Did it kill you too? We want to help." She says, rather quickly.
Kristophe gives a polite bow to Sophie, nodding his agreement with these terms and motioning to Duccio to join as he moves to leave for the Prince's chambers. He gives a quick nod to Enki as he passes, "of course. At your earliest convenience, once business is concluded."
As she finishes speaking Worm seems to return he places a rather ornate wooden chair down.
Rionach turns to face him "You there Worm, you will stay here and keep me aware of anything important for when I return. Do well and perhaps you will be deemed worthy of your existence."
The scared man seems to say and do nothing but stand at the ready
"It is I Captain Darkwater of the Huntsman, Elder of Clan Gangrel. I have business to attend here in court as well with the mortals as such have docked in your fair city and wish to make my presence known."
He Glances to another well dressed figure in a variety of fine silks, the figure seems to have an unearthly beauty that seems unplaceable. They also carry with them a leather bound journal with an alchemical circle on the cover. The figure smiles and speaks in a soft feminine voice.
"I am River of Clan Toreador, I am accompanying the good Captain here as they provide...opportunity."
The Captain turns to his other compatriot and speaks "This here is Grug my...traveling companion. He is a good man but one of few words."
"Well met Capitan Darkwater and his associates I am Leonarduccio Esposito Primogen of Clan Lasombra, Hound of the Prince, Champion and Harpy of this city. If your business is with our Prince I shall inform her of your arrival, additionally I will ask that you hand all weaponry to the attendants of this abbey which shall be returned to you upon departure of this establishment. Now if you shall excuse me there is a prior matter that I must attend to." Duccio gives a polite bow before resuming his way behind Kristophe.
"Hildr keep an eye on court matters for me , once Kristophe is free send him my way."
Enki rejoins with his bodyguards and leaves
