Hey there kiddos, here's how this shindig is going to go down.
Instead of choosing which of the campaigns on offer you'd like and then going to make a fish sandwich, we're going to use "ranked choice voting." That means that you rank the choices, 1 through 5, and then send me your choices. If one of them gets 50% or more of the votes, it wins. If not, then the choice in last is eliminated and players who chose that as their number 1 have their votes applied to their number 2 game. Then we check for a 50% majority again, and repeat.
Clear as mud? Check out this video, it really clears things up:

Ties will be decided by d20 rolls, highest roll wins.
Feel free to discuss the options with each other as much as you'd like in this thread. When you're ready to vote, message me directly and those will be your official votes. All votes will be kept anonymous. Feel free to ask questions, either about the voting system OR about any of the campaigns.
Ok, here are the options to choose from once again:

Ok, here are the options to choose from once again:
[ +- ] 1) Mini-Campaign/One-shot
A mini-campaign/long one-shot about a single city in a strange mountain range where weird stuff often occurs. Magic has twisted the region into obeying rules written by chance, and the city of Ogden's Gap cuts through the Mad Mountains, a place where logic goes to die. This thing is 100% written, ready to roll.
[ +- ] 2) Pre-written Module
A pre-written module. I'd like to one day run Storm King's Thunder, Curse of Strahd, a 5e hack of an early DnD module, or a third party module (I've found a few I like)
[ +- ] 3) Desert Homebrew Campaign
A desert campaign, homebrewed by me. This is one I've been wanting to run for a while, if only because it's got momentum in my mind by now. Cities on a desert rim, threatened by the desiccated undead. The story can be altered (I need input from players to help build the world), but the gist of it is in my head. Influences to include the Arabian nights, Forgotten Realms' Al-Qadim, a touch of Ravnica, and a high magic environment a la Eberron. I'd like to design a hex crawl for this, among a bunch of other stuff. Desert doesn't see enough exposure in fantasy.
[ +- ] 4) Military Homebrew Campaign
A military-fantasy campaign where the players are a part of a military/mercenary unit. You would start with a race/background/ability scores, but no class. Characters would attend a level 0 "basic training", where they will RP and perform in various tests. Depending on how you perform (your ability scores/background would come into play through dice rolls), characters are assigned a class and sent to training before their first mission. (Players can multi-class into a different class, I'd have a conversation with them to work it into the story). Influences include my time in the military (channeling helplessness under threat of bureaucracy and I-guess-this-is-my-life-now mentality), Glen Cook's Black Company, Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment. Gallows humor, ridiculous situations with no right answer, that sort of thing.
[ +- ] 5) Ninth World (Numenara) Campaign
A campaign set in the Ninth World from the "Beneath the Monolith" campaign setting by Monte Cook. If Clarke's quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" was turned into a setting. Sci-fi/fantasy, use of mostly consumable items called "cyphers" that let characters do a variety of things, a billion years in the future. From their website: The landscape of the Ninth World is shaped by structures, machines, and landmarks that bear the mark of previous worlds, and dotted with ancient devices, creatures, and items of wondrous power and inexplicable purpose. Islands of crystal float in the sky. Inverted mountains rise up above plains of broken glass. Mysterious abandoned structures stretch across distances so great they affect the weather. Massive machines, half buried, churn and hum—but for what purpose?" Focus on discovery, mystery, strange happenings with no discernible origin, far beyond our ken.
I don't have a full story for this one yet, but that's ok. I've found a couple good starter adventures that we can expand upon once we reach the end.
