I got inspired about the talk of a fast-paced posting game for Halloween so I'm going to take up the challenge. I'll be running a horror game for the Halloween season starting Sept. 1st and aiming to finish Nov. 1. I'll be using the Dead of Night system, a very rules lite game written to simulate horror movies. I've run this system for several one shots in person and it is great, should work really well for PbP as well since there is not much rolling.
The game will be a Friday the 13th game (or generic clone with the serial numbers filed off). This will be a fast-paced and high posting game. Instead of a posting rate, I aim to finish a scene per week, giving us about 9 weeks, and each week being about 10 minutes of "movie time." Players are expected to post enough to meaningfully contribute during each week.
Since the game is rules lite and character deaths are guaranteed, I can take up to 8 players. Players will take on the roles of camp counselors.
About the system
Dead of Night characters are very simple: A concept, 4 pairs of opposing attributes where each pair equals 10, 1 or 2 specializations, and a Bad Habit. Survival Points are your health, sanity, drama points, and metacurency. Rolls are 2d10 + Attribute against a target number of 15 for static tests, or 10 + Opponent's attribute for opposed tests. All characters should also have a relationship to at least one other PC.
That's all there is to it. If you are interested, leave a comment!
