I think this is a plain ol' bug.
includes/forums/ForumSearch.class.php Lines 46 and 49 use the array_keys of getAccessableForums rather than the array itself to get the resultCount.
This throws out the page count, so it sometimes doesn't know it has more pages.

Huh.
Changing these two lines of code so the power users can access more than one (sometimes two) pages of latest posts could be the most significant "Thank you for making Gamers’ exPlane" gift I could ever hope to give Qralloq.

Yeah. This is one of those bugs where if somebody said "so what is it actually doing now?" then I'd find it difficult to explain.
