Just found out this is a thing.

Online Viewable Corebook

Any other fans of the show? Was thinking of running a single hunt with the system. Seems to use a d2-d12 system, not something I see all the time. But it seems to go off something like Savage Worlds where every stat has a related dice you add together to roll.

I love Supernatural, although I am a few seasons behind now :(

Oh gosh, my knowledge of the last few seasons got really spotty. I lost track around the Leviathin stuff. Me and the wife actually went to a Supernatural convention here in MN last year and got our photo taken with Jensen Ackles.

I ran a campaign IRL for about half a year. It was a great system and everyone enjoyed it. I ran it like a Supernatural season... started off as monster of the week but then a recurring problem arose. That's where the fun disappeared, very similar to the show.

The GP complication is adding dice, like roll a d6+d8. Would require non-automated math.

The GP math issue would stink, I guess it depends on if people are dedicated enough for it.

I think the fun thing to do would be the monster a week thing. The best episodes of the show were the early ones where every week was a new mythical creature. To me it would be fun to research a new mythical creature and bring it into suburban America lifestyles.

If anything I was thinking a one-shot to see how it works and plays. I'll keep the thread open to see if there is any more interest.

I have too many games already, but this is one I could not resist!

I also think the GP dice roller may not be an issue. I'm running a Mouse Guard game, and Lasers and Feelings, and I'm in a Shadowrun game, all systems which require manual counting of successes and failures from pools of rolled d6s. So adding together a few numbers isn't the worst thing.

The End of the World game I ran also had pools of positive and negative dice that would cancel each other out AND be tallied for successes afterwards, and negatives for stress.

Plus if I DM'd it would be up to me to really tally it anyway.

For sure. I was going to simply do the math myself for Feng Shui (trait plus exploding 1d6 minus exploding 1d6), but Keleth made a Feng Shui dice roller that works really great.

Dice math and counting and stuff is planned. We'll end up up having a thread on it.

I like Supernatural, though the more recent seasons have been too all-over-the-place. I just saw the epi where they reintroduce Chuck, and that was just too much for me. Too much "can't figure out what we want to do with this show, so HERE!". It's fine, hopefully this is the last season (I've said that a few times). I always liked the monster of the week seasons and the alphas season.

The thing that bugs me about the new seasons is that every episode is an exercise in seeing how many times a demon will throw Sam and Dean into something that breaks. Sometimes they mix it up by having it be an angel that throws them into something breakable. I don't understand how they went from such badasses to not even remembering that charging a demon with a knife is pretty much just going to end with you being thrown into something breakable.

Seriously, it's like at least 4 times every episode.

Looking over the rules for this I'm wondeing what people would think instead if we used the Fate system to run a Supernatural game? We could be monster hunters roaming the US taking down Supernatural beings. GP is also more easily built for the Fate dice rolling.

I've never played Fate or Supernatural, so it makes no difference to me

Monster of the Week would be great for a Supernatural game!

This is actually really great looking. I'm a big fan of the Apocalypse World system (and by extension Dungeon World). This may even be better than Supernatural RPG and Fate Core (or accelerated) for running a game of Supernatural.

I'm interested in this. I think Fate (core or accelerated) would work great as well as Monster of the Week.

I've actually looked over the revised Monster of the Week ruleset. I'm thinking of using it because I'm a big fan of the Apacolypse World ruleset it's based off (and by extension I'm a big fan of Dungeon World). I will be starting up a game. It will be Supernatural adjacent, so set in the same world of Suburban American sprawls filled with hidden monsters. You will be a traveling team of hunters.

Experimenting with the idea of making this a "Family Business" like the winchesters, so all characters would be related in some way.

Love the idea of a family business.

Okay, the game is open.

We are using Monster of the Week. You shouldn't need the corebook for the game, the concept is fairly straightforward. We use the character playbooks for character creation.

Still one spot open for the game. Want to hunt down supernatural monsters as part of a family business? Hop on in.
