First time GM needs photo help

Hi All,

I am running my first game here at GP, after playing a few, and I am having trouble posting pictures into posts. I am using all of my own artwork on the game, and I have the photos of the drawings on flickr, but they will not show up on the threads using the flickr URL.

I plan to do this a lot, so can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I was hoping it was going to be like adding an avatar, and I would just upload...

Is there a test URL you can use in this thread, and you are using it within the img tags as follows? [ img ] test_image.url [ /img ] (spaces included to prevent img tags from being invoked).

Ah, yah, flickr! It's an interesting one; there are a number of photoshare services that don't let you just link files directly (I have to write code to get them to work).

If you can, show a test example of what you're trying to do, and I can see if it's something I can throw together quickly or if there's a work-around I can suggest until I can get full up code working.

Yah, for example, http://postimg.org/image/m6hdyhoe9/ is not an image. It's a page that has an image on it, who's URL is http://s32.postimg.org/3qwx13a9x/Photo_du_2016_05_13_a_17_29.jpg. For cases like that, I'd have to write something to have the code recognize an image link from postimg.org that isn't ACTUALLY an image, and I can then parse the page for the link. Assuming the image link doesn't change.

Photobucket works... I know another one. Just a band aid until the coding gets done.

Does Flickr have an embedded URL amongst its options? Assuming that GP accepts such URLs, that is.

Easiest way I've found to display the image is to right-click on the image, most browsers will have a "Copy Image Address" option. Paste that into the brackets.

Without the space becomes:

I just right click on the image and select "open image in another browser", copy the URL and post it in a image link. works for me

Yah, I really appreciate people's patience as I get more stuff built.
GP will accept whatever I tell it to, damnit!

More seriously, if you're using a file share service and notice it's not linking properly, start up a thread in site discussions for a new feature (or someone start a master one we can add all service requests too), and I'll see how viable/easy it is to add them.

so i can get a BBCode from Flickr, but that doesn't seem to work either. nor does the embed code. What sharing sites have people used that work?

GP uses BBCode as a baseline, but doesn't have all the embeds. I can add them if I know how it's setup.

I will try photobucket. I also have them posted to facebook, but photobucket will be my first choice for now.

I can share, if i post it and it doesnt work you can still choose to edit and see it, right, UberGM?

I know Imgur works and also provides the BB code for your image.

Well good to know. the BBCode works as long as you just copy and paste directly.

Thanks everybody! Since I plan to draw out my ships and other NPCs, this will get used a lot.
