Two-layered character sheets

Random idea I had. Might be more relevant for some games than others.

What if we had the option to create two layers to a character sheet. One layer, everyone in the game you submitted the sheet to can access by default. If you're too lazy to create both layers, this one will be the default.
And then the other layer only you and the GM of that game can access (or anyone, if the sheet is set to public).

That would allow you to keep secrets stored on your sheet while still making the default experience of "everyone can see everyone's stats" possible.

Thoughts?

Yes.
Not everyone wants to post their character to the public library just so the other players in their game can see it.

What if the notes tag worked (I assume it doesn’t)? Would that solve the secrets thing?

Notes don't parse, they just show up as text (even the [ ]s show).
Notes would be an active secret, as opposed to a public/private split system with the players being able to see the sheet by default.

Sure, but if notes worked - would this solve the problem of having secrets that not everyone could see?

It probably would, yea

Could also solve that with Notes to yourself on the sheet, no?

Note and Private to work outside of thread posts.

You're saying they don't worry currently outside threads, I think, right? Easier to turn that on than develop all-new functionality, I guess I'm asking.

Arr. Notes currently only work in forum posts.

I've changed it so they work everywhere. The caveat is that you'll need to add yourself to the note list to see it. This is because the notes won't be able to hook into the post to find the author.
