Due to popular demand (yes, one person counts LOL), here's an OOC thread for my solo game of "Across a Thousand Dead Worlds" by Blackoath Entertainment. If anyone is interested in the rule system, a link to the playtesting discord server can be found here
Feel free to post questions, shocked gasps at the gripping action in game, and/or feedback here. The first couple of posts here will be a small compendium of worldbuilding (NPCs, mission reports...) I'll expand as I play.
The story so far
- The future deep diver Raymond Silt arrives at Karum station and goes on his first mission; an introductory course that leads him across the rocky surface of a moon close to the station. He successfully completes this mission, as the first group only because his partner had some outside help. They found a corpse in the process (see below)
- Ray returns to the station and meets his next door neighbour (Addison). They promptly get in trouble together in order to find more information about the corpse. Addison gets hurt in the process and has to take a break so Ray decides it's time for his first real mission
- He arrives safely on RT Kobaloi 5560 and explores it on foot. In the direction he chose at first, he couldn't find much except things trying to kill him, but the opposite direction contained a site that allowed for some profit
- Upon his return to the station, Ray finds that Addison has managed to get himself in trouble once more by illegaly redistributing some wealth despite being ordered to rest
Side Story: A mysterious corpse
While searching for the alloy cube to complete the introductory course, Raymond and Kainoa encountered a corpse that shouldn't be there. Ray tries to solve the mystery
Possible Answers:
Clubs: Whose remains are they? 1) a human who should be back on earth 2) a supposed legendary deep diver 3) a KSA member 4) an alien being only disguised as a human 5) a person vacationing on Karum station
Diamonds: What was the cause of their death? 1) Natural/Disease 2) Faulty Equipment 3) Poisoning 4) Hit their head and had a brain bleed 5) got lost and stumbled around disoriented until they died
Spades: Why weren’t they discovered earlier when this moon is quite heavily frequented? 1) They only arrived here very recently 2) they were previously hidden and natural processes uncovered them 3) someone had previously successfully managed to keep people away from there 4) A mix of luck and inattentive people 5) Someone wanted specifically Ray and Kainoa to find the body
Surprise List:
1) Raymond’s room is broken into
2) Hints involving a conspiracy in the highest ranks of Karum Station start to appear
3) Ray is suspected by the KSA to have murdered the person they found
I'm using the slightly adapted "Nine Steps And a Bloody Heart" ruleset by Riccardo Fregi
