Hello! I'm looking for 4 players to join me on a Fate Condensed campaign. In a homebrew sci-fi setting (the details of which we will sketch out together), you will be playing a group of researchers losing their consciousness and waking up on a room on their way to a planet to research a newly found intelligent species.
I have purposefully left the details vague for the campaign. For the setting and the plot, I only have a few "constants" in my mind:
1- This is a sci-fi story, set in the future of our world, roughly 24th to 25th century (much like Star Trek in terms of technology, alien species knowing each other etc).
2- Characters will be a research group that has carried out missions (or adventures) together before.
3- Main reason for your voyage is to learn something about a new intelligent species that humanity just made a contact.
4- You find yourselves in a mysterious room without any memory of what happened to you.
Fate games have a special session called "Session 0" in which players determine the relationship between their characters and if necessary, details pertaining to the worldbuilding. We won't have sessions per se, but I will open a Session 0 thread and we won't start the actual game until we are satisfied with what we have. To give an example, you could be an official research group sent by the government (or Federation, or Collective, whatever we decide) OR you may be a group of adventurers trying to sneak into this new planet, with the hopes of meeting this species OR you may not even be an intellectual group driven by the pursuit of knowledge, you could be spies OR you could be a group that goes to the planet to take advantage of the poossible newly found riches.
As the ones familiar with Fate may already know, this is a highly colloborative system that is open to homebrew content maybe more than any other system. It is very important to play in a world that is created by contributions from all the players. If you are a player who prefers pre-set stories, this game may not be for you.
This will be my first time GM'ing a Fate game (or GM'ing any type of TTRPG game). I'm sure there will be players who knows Fate more than I do. For them and others, I apologize from the beginning for my highly possible mistakes. I'm open to players beginner of Fate, I will happily explain the details and supply extra materials for you to properly learn the system.
One last thing to mention. I realized that for PBP games usually have an inverse exponential relationship between the players' interest in game and the amount of time passed. I mean, first few weeks are great, players usually are very enthusiastic about and interested in the game. However, this enthusiasm quickly drops with time because of the nature of this type of game playing. To prevent this up to a degree, I want all of the players to write at least one post per day, if not one post per two days and I highly discourage short, one or two sentence posts. I don't think this is a tight rule, I hope you will agree with me.
I hope I have covered everything needed in the beginning. Feel free to ask me anything about the campaign. Hope meeting you soon!
