tweak/clear_mentions

This was suggested a while ago - clearing mentions.

Imagine a user coming back to the site after being away for a while and seeing a whole bunch of mentions.

Maybe a clear mentions icon in there?

I would like that. I usually only see mentions after I already visited the thread from the latest posts page so this would be useful.

Likewise. I have to go back and clear the mentions after I have already read the post. I don't think I have ever used a mention before having read it.

It would be lovely if it could be detected that the post was 'viewed' and the mention and major update notices could clear themselves, but failing that, a way to purge them --one at a time or all at once-- would be nice.

Major Updates are in the same boat and should get the same treatment.

Does this also clear major edits?

I'm not sure how to test that by myself without making a second account since I don't get notifications for my own major edits

If someone wants to mention me I can test this, else I would need to make a second account, which I probably should do eventually. :)
