Reorder Games List by Activity.

Something the would help the cluttered game lists --on the top bar and in the My Games page, and the Front Page: would be to list games in order of activity.

Activity by the player --as it does on the Users Page (existing code)-- might be ideal so other people's activity does not keep them at the top (as with all those people who have 'GP Tutorial - Tales from the Loop' sitting at the top of their games lists even though they are not going to post in that one again (but don't want to leave and lose access), but general last-posted-order would be nice even aside from this topic.

Ordering by creation date (or game number) seems like the worst sort order, even though it might be simplest to implement.

If we don't get the Player Controlled Retirement off the ground, this becomes a higher priority, but would be nice either way.

While the game list seems a bit abetray, a sorting by activity would be useful for those of us in too many games AND this is the important part: It would promote the stagnation of games. Slow games would go to the bottom of your list and you would tend to focus on the top of your list.

I think this might be a good idea. I'm a slight bit worried that it might make it a bit more difficult to find a specific game if you can't memorize where approximately in the list it is, but you can probably estimate whether it'd be closer to the top or the bottom of the pile. I also don't use the games page all that often, so that shouldn't impact me personally all that much (aside from the dropdown maybe becoming a bit more usable). I think I'd prefer the front page to stay sorted, however (although I'd like it by alphabet rather than join date if I got to choose completely freely)

I am becoming concerned about all this talk about 'stagnation'.

It would not make a difference to me (or any of my players who care) since I assumed people would see the unread posts and deal with them, no matter how far down the list they are?

Babying players and making it harder for them to accidentally ignore things seems massively insulting. The sorts of players who don't care enough to look a little ways down a list are going to let games stagnate anyway.

These are not technical problems, and should not be addressed in the technical realm. They are social contract problems and need to be dealt with as human beings.

I like this idea. It's simple to understand, and it just works without the players needing to do anything.

We already have the idea of an active game. It's shown on the profile. Maybe My Games are split into active and inactive (then ordered by last posting date asc or desc?).




If we did have those sections then within those I'd like to see "last posted by not-me" and "last posted by me" as somehow distinct as this helps me know what to address. Not necessarily grouping, maybe an icon, or a colour on the username or something.

But yeah. Anything has to be more useful than creation date.
