aquafina presents... a Critical Role and WoTC adventure module...
Call of the Netherdeep
(please read the whole post to ensure this game is right for you)
The Game System and Setting.
-- Dungeons & Dragons 5e set in Critical Role's Exandria. I will be playing as true to the source setting as possible, while taking a few liberties when needed. Call of the Netherdeep is an official D&D5e adventure module, and I will be running it as closely as I can to the book, editing only for smoothening the module for the PbP format and for inserting your characters into the story.
The Pitch.
-- The greed of mortals has awakened a powerful entity long thought destroyed. For eons, this mighty champion of the gods has been imprisoned in the darkest depths of Exandria. His name has been forgotten, as have his heroic deeds. Languishing in despair, he calls out for new heroes to save him.
Inspired by the campaigns of the hit series Critical Role, this adventure begins in the Wastes of Xhorhas and leads to the glimmering oasis-city of Ank’Harel on the continent of Marquet, and from there into a sunken realm of gloom, corruption, and sorrow known as the Netherdeep. Above it all, the red moon of Ruidus watches, twisting the fates of those who have the power to shape the course of history.
Game Duration and Post Frequency.
-- This will be a long-running game. I am looking for players who are in it for the long haul, please. I myself am a busy college student who's schedule is constantly in disarray, but I will try to keep a good 3-4ish IC posts per week. I can almost always reply to OOC posts and questions within a few hours, and I will advertise any expected breaks in my post frequency. Expect lulls around major holidays and whatnot.
Adult Content or Controversial Themes.
-- This game will certainly feature violence, but no need for intense gore or any awkward or touchy themes such as sexy time, drug use, self-harm, etc etc. There will be a dedicated Session 0 thread where we will lay down the ground rules.
Character Restrictions.
-- Characters will begin as level 3 and progress up to level 12! Any and all officially published content is allowed, including Wildemount, Ravnica, and Tasha's optional rules, but excluding Eberron and Strixhaven (though the Warforged and Tasha's Artificer is okay, and the spells from Strixhaven). All subclasses from Critical Role's Tal'dorei Reborn book is also welcome.
In fact, I ENCOURAGE using Tasha's optional ability score flexibility and class features/replacements to make your characters your own. No Unearthed Arcana or homebrew (except for a few preapproved fixes for existing things such as adding subclass spells to all sorcerer and ranger subclasses, inquire for full list of approved fixes).
In keeping with its Critical Role origins, this module attempts to emphasize character growth/development and personal goals, and it would be awesome if players took that into consideration when creating your characters, such as noting where they are now, and where you want them to go (such as, my character is brash and impatient, but I want them to eventually be humbled and learn patience, or something). And pretty please, no edgelords or loners lol, adventuring is a team sport.
Player Experience Requirements.
-- I would like to get a mix of people new to PbP/D&D5e and veteran players. Familiarity with the setting of Exandria is not required but is appreciated, but overall it is a pretty standard high fantasy setting.
Welcome Marginalized Groups!
-- As evidenced by my profile picture, this game is explicitly friendly to LGBT and any other minorities or marginalized groups. All are welcome on this journey. If you have any disabilities such as color blindness or anything like that, let me know so I can accommodate! :)
How to Apply.
-- The recruitment for this game will not be first-come-first-serve! If you have played in a previous game of mine that I had to shut down prematurely or you have already expressed interest in this game before I posted this, I may give you preferential status for this one! I will select players based on interest expressed both in this recruitment thread as well as PM, whichever way to apply makes you more comfortable :)
To express interest, please mention your familiarity with D&D5e, the setting of Exandria, and PbP in general. In order to make sure you've actually read this whole post, please insert some kind of gif, reference, pun, or joke relating to Critical Role, the moon, or to underwater depths in your interest :)
Please do not begin creating characters, as there are a few hooks and things to go over before we begin that you may want to interact with.
I will be taking 4-5 players :) let me know if you have any questions!!
