"Wanted: Dead or Alive fer Highway Banditry, Murder, and Misuse of Magical Applications. That's what it said up in the tavern. All we had to do was bring most of Bludgouge Deadfingers in without gettin' axed ourselves. Now, the problem 'bout that there bounty wasn't just that Deadfingers was more ornery than a one-legged cockatrice with a reputation fer shootin' first and buryin' you never, or even findin' that half-orc sunuvagun. Nah. The problem was that he'd holed up with the Chipped Tooth Gang, and started hittin' the rails to line his pockets and keep movin' one step ahead of the law. Chipped Tooths. Ugh. Regular rabble-rousers 'round these parts, and none too keen on us adventurer-types saunterin' up guns a'blazin' and threatenin' to fill em' all full of magic, steel an' lead for a fistful of coin."
"How'd we get 'im back to the city alive? Wasn't easy. See, we had to figure out where he was headin', and what train he'd be hittin' next. Found that out after Telwin hit one of Deadfingers' boys with some fancy compulsion wizardry. Tracked that tall sack of meat down to the train he was fixin' to hold-up, hopped on-board and played it real quiet-like. That's how we cornered 'im -- ain't much place to run once the train's a'chuggin'. Shootout was somethin' fierce with them Chipped Tooth boys, but never undestimate a high plains berserker with a bone to pick and a meaner-than-thou greatsword. Deadfingers didn't even see it comin' when that crazy rock-for-brains Mincer tackled him right outta the railcar and onto the ground. Suf'ice it t'say Deadfingers wasn't up for another scrap after takin' a tumble like that; chiefly 'cause both his arms were broke, and Doc Silverleaf sure wasn't 'bout to pray to her elfy god to patch 'im up after he clocked her good in the shoulder with that rifle o' his."
"Now enough gabbin'. Innkeep! 'Round of ale on us! Here's to Bludgouge Deadfingers -- best payday we ever had!" -- Whitney Copperfoot, Halfling Gunslinger & Member of the New Arcanus Adventurer's Guild
This here's an interest check, pardners!
Once Upon a Time in New Arcanus is a homebrew Spaghetti Fantasy-Western where players take up the roles of alluring gunfighter elves, dynamite chucking dwarves, tribal lizard-riding halflings, and spellslinging gnome sorcerers as adventurers-for-hire. Grab your trusty wand and ten-gallon wizard hat, throw on your platemail and leather chaps, strap on your six-shooter and Spurs of Speediness, and saddle-up for adventure across the Magical West. You'll plumb trap-infested wizard towers, go toe-to-toe with orcish stagecoach robbers, defeat mystery cults bent on summoning El Diablo, challenge undead liches to a showdown at high noon, and maybe -- just maybe! -- even save the frontier town of New Arcanus along the way.
Powered by the incredibly light and flexible Mini Six: Bare Bones Edition, Once Upon a Time in New Arcanus is potentially my first game here on Gamers Plane, as well as my first foray into the system as a whole beyond my experience with the actual OpenD6 line of games. I envision it as a more light-hearted style game with the occassional spikes in drama (and a banging score by the late Ennio Morricone :p), replete with all the classic western & fantasy tabletop tropes you can imagine.
Right now this is just an interest check to see if there's even any, well, interest. Ideally if there's sufficient folks keen on this sort of game then I'll see about building some more world lore, throwing up a thread request, and rustling up some players.
