Hi everyone,
I'm Anthony, and just getting back into RPGs after a long absence, and am really excited to have discovered Gamers' Plane. Between the ages of 10 and 17 I was an obsessed and obsessive gamer, playing AD&D, Gamma World, Traveller, Top Secret, Paranoia, any and all Avalon Hill wargames I could afford, SJG Microgames (anyone remember those?)...I loved all of them. I had The Dragon, The General, even Chess Life (good lord...dork), and was as immersed as a teen could be...as many of you are/were, I imagine. Then, I gave it up...and work, more work, grad school, university life (I'm an English prof), and other banality drew me away. A few years ago I felt the itch again, and have since delved back into every aspect of gaming culture (rpg, board, video-, pervasive games, game studies) that I can find, catching up on 25+ years of gaming indolence. I'm hooked again, and I love it.
I was always the DM/GM as a lad, and I just started a D&D 5e campaign this year: my first in eons. So excited, and nervous. But we don't meet nearly enough for me, and I want to branch out. Gamers' Plane seems like a great community and opportunity. For the moment, I plan on avidly following threads and learning how PbP works, since I have zero experience with it (and I am totally rusty anyway), and hope to play some (for the first time ever, actually), but in time I'm really looking forward to GMing on here.
Games I'm interested in are—and I know that not all these are supported yet—Call of Cthulhu, Trail of Cthulhu, Outbreak, Savage Worlds, Mutants and Masterminds, Fate, D&D 5e (or 1E, old school), Rocket Age, Fear Itself, Colonial Gothic, and All Flesh Must Be Eaten.
Tldr: Place seems awesome, happy to be here. And kudos to Keleth for making everything possible!
