CONTENT WARNING
Mörk Borg is quite a dark RPG system. This game is set to embrace it and is designed for a very Dark Fantasy RP in a world that is in its final apocalyptic time. It is a world at its worst, so expect the worst. Common Mörk Borg themes can include: Horror, Gore, Violence, Death, Torture, Suicide, Occultism, Cannibalism and other dark topics. Adult themes are possible.
The Dead Girls of Sarkash Forest is a module that is designed to discover a character’s backstory as we play by recovering memories that are mostly up to the player to add to their character. This will cover her tragic murder.
The game forum will be private for content reasons.
Player Characters can quite easily die in Mörk Borg.
The world
The world is at its end. The Nameless Scripture, as prophesized by one of HIS heads, Verhu, is running out. The last day is imminent. Can the apocalypse be stopped?
One of seven prophecies leading to the end of the world has come to pass:
Psalm 3:1 of The Calendar of Nechrubel:
At Graven-Tosk the soil shall grow warm and those who rest be made to walk.
The module and the characters
The forest of Sarkash grows unnaturally. The trees here display weird vitality, the forest spreads unnaturally fast. Paths twist upon themselves, navigation is a fickle thing. It is a place of mist, moss and things that lurk in the damp shadows beneath the boughs. Within, the vast cemetery of Graven-Tosk, where the dead rest uneasily. It is from here that our protagonists - all girls who died tragically young - begin their journey.
You awaken at the Graven-Tosk cemetery. You remember your name, you remember a little of your former life and you remember that you’ve died a horrible dead (although the details of why, how and who is responsible, are vague). You are in the Graven-Tosk cemetery, but this is no place for you. Can you, and the other girls, find a way out of the (randomly generated) forest, back to civilization?
Can you recover your memories and become a full person again, even regain life itself? Or will you end up as another mindless zombie in the forest?
The module is designed to let backstories progress dynamically as we play. At points you will relive a moment of your past life. A memory coming back to you. It can be cheerful and happy, or sad and painful. Maybe something about how and why you’ve died. It is also possible to lose such memories.
The core mechanic of this module is how characters will gain or lose part of their background, and let you roleplay various states between alive or zombie.
The players
If you are still reading after the content warning, I assume you are interested in a Dark Fantasy RP game. Regardless of who you are, where you live, or how you identify yourself, you are welcome to join if you understand the content warning and are at least 18 years of age.
If you are interested, please let me know. The game has room for 4-5 players.
The game
We will be playing Mörk Borg. You don’t need to know the rules. They are simple enough and I will explain them.
Omens and character death are handled differently in the module, making the module maybe a bit easier than normal Mörk Borg content. I will also make a few adjustments to suit PBP better (like abandoning initiative between player characters).
The module comes with 6 classes designed to replace the normal Mörk Borg classes. You can pick one of these 6 classes (it would be most interesting if all player pick a different class):
The Exsanguinated Doll, The Sacrificial Waif, The Pyre-Borne Witch, The Doomed Romantic, The Assassinated Princes and The Silenced Wretch.
If your character dies you can chose to reroll as a class from the module, or a traditional Mörk Borg character (who will act more like a "helping hand").
What you need
The game will run only on Gamers Plane, you’ll need nothing else.
Having the Mörk Borg rulebook or have Mörk Borg experience is not required.
Posting and duration
Posting once a day should be the guideline. If you can’t post for a while, please let me know.
At the end of the module another adventure will be merged in to actually restore the players to full life (if they succeed). At that point the story has ended. We can continue if we like at which point omens and death will be according to the Mörk Borg core rules.
