Omens, Death and Torpor work differently in the module.
OMENS
Each character as a certain amount of Omens.
You can spend 1 Omen to:
- Deal max damage with 1 attack
- Force reroll of any dice (yours or someone else's)
- Lower damage dealt to you by 1D6
- Lower a DR by 4
- Neutralize a crit or fumble
(Neutralize a crit or fumble: you can force a reroll instead, but that could fumble or crit again)
According to normal MB rules, Omens recover on a rest. In case of The Dead Girls of Sarkash Forest, they recover differently, after a Torpor.
DEATH
Characters can die quite easily in Mork Borg.
If you run out of hit points, roll a die to see if you die.
In The Dead Girls of Sarkash Forest you are already dead.
TORPOR
The damage to your body might convince you that you’re actually, properly dead, at least for a while. If the effect is temporary, we call it Torpor. If permanent, you become just like any other corpse.
When you hit 0 or less HP, you become Torpid. Unable to act, inert and motionless, barely conscious. Functionally indistinguishable from
a corpse. While Torpid, you forget something about your former life or some aspect of humanity.
Describe to the group what you’ve lost. You are diminished; reduce your maximum HP by 1.
After an hour of torpor for every HP below 0 you awaken. You heal d8 HP, up to your new maximum, and your Omens refresh.
