Age of Storms is a fantasy series that emphasizes the evolution of characters and the world over time. Players take over the control of several characters across the world and guide them through a perilous fantasy world plagued by magical storms. Due to inspiration from games such as Battle brothers or Darkest Dungeon, you can expect some of these characters to die horrifically, while others shall rise to greatness.

The game focuses on freedom of choice accompanied by many story seeds for the players to choose from if they so desire. Shall the newly orphaned boy decide to start a new mercenary company or will he set out on the path of the dark arts to defeat death itself? The possibilities in this game are limitless, yet a lot of inspiration will be provided to ensure the story ever moves forward.

The Game System: The game is built upon the Resistance toolbox framework, yet knowledge of the system is not necessary for the player, as the rules are easy to learn on the go. For those interested, you can get a pdf with the overview of key points here as a pay-what-you-want product. Games such as Spire or Heart are built on this very system.
The Toolbox is incredible at striking the middle ground between the far loose side of storygaming and the more traditional, immersive rolling style that still places big tension on rolls for equivalents to stuff like criticals. It also scales great from a single warrior to grand armies, which is exactly what we need.

Setting: Low technology would probably be the best way to describe it. The premise is that the sentient races were forced to go from "medieval style fantasy" lifestyle to stone-age migratory way of life. The Dragon gods, enforcers of this lifestyle, were later on caught in a deadly war with the Ancient gods, which resulted in total annihilation of both parties and cataclysmic events known as Magestorms.
The game starts 43 years after the aforementioned annihilation. First villages are being built, people are getting used to staying in one place. There are still remnants of the world before the dragons (as the players shall soon discover), however most technology is currently on the level of ancient sumerians, so think pottery, bows, reeds everywhere etc.

Adult Content or Controversial Themes: Adult content can be integrated into the game if it benefits the story and is described in a manner that is sensible to all players.

Disclaimer: This would be my first campaign as a DM on this site, so there may be some trial and error with the correct usage of all features. I have also only recently moved from my local DnD clone to the Resistance Toolbox, so some minor balancing may be needed during the game. Any and all changes will, however, be discussed with all of the players first to ensure that we all have fun.


I would be happy to start the game, assuming we manage to find 3-5 players. More would be welcome later on, however I can tell from experience that too many characters can make the start a bit clunky.
