Thanks for the starting interest, I believe we have enough momentum to convert this into a recruitment thread!



Game System: We are playing Cy_Borg, post-apocalyptic cyberpunk spinoff in the same vein as its precursor Mork Borg, rules-lite, OSR-inspired.

The Flavour: // Constantly in flux; shifting, distorting, always reborn as something worse. Destruction by ecological catastrophes, the fallout of history’s belligerence; by modern man-made Miseries or the blood spilled by the reckless machine of capitalist supremacy. Mankind’s greatest ability truly is to destroy itself in creative ways. Designer demise, consumer customized death, endlessly on repeat. Poisonous space rocks, nuclear weapons, cyclical revolutions, warring nations, warring corporations, warring neighbors; pandemics, tsunamis, volcanoes. In between it all: direct person-machine interfaces, tactical neural implants, and bacteria from outer space hijacking intercellular nanorobotics.
And the sky is full of ads. //
Everyone is interfaced/injected/infected/infested with something. Everyone wants something from everyone else. Everyone is a liar and a cheat. Everyone wants more creds. //

Themes: dystopia, survival, upheaval, rebellion, punk, metal. The mood is not just grimdark but pitchblack. We will discuss lines and veils and no-go areas before we begin the game.

Character Options: The core book provides six character classes - Shunned Nanomancer, Burned Hacker, Discharged Corp Killer, Orphaned Gear Head, Renegade Cyber Slasher, Forsaken Gang Goon. I'd like to take up to 6 players so that we have a chance to see how each of these classes play out. One of the more enjoyable features is character creation!

Game Duration and Post Frequency: I'd like to play through the introductory adventure in the core book. It is a short scenario, but from there everyone will 'gain a level', and I'm offering to run a longer campaign to further delve into the setting if there's momentum to continue. We should be able to manage 1 post a day to 1 post every 2 days, but that entirely depends on what the players can reasonably commit to. I hear a number of us have full gaming plates and yet would still love to make time to try new systems, so I believe we can accommodate that.

Specialised Resources: I typically like to set up a Discord channel for chat purposes. Other than that, everything else with be on Gamers Plane.

Player Experience: This is a new system, so no prior experience needed.

GM Experience: This will also be my first run with the system, so let's learn together. I have run multiple game systems and in particular GMed various cyberpunk games from The Sprawl to Shadowun Xe. I tend towards detailed setting creation with multiple plots and options in a sandbox, but will behave myself for an introductory adventure. :)

How to Apply: Just speak up here! Thanks again to those who've already indicated interest. If we have more than 6, I shall declare how I intend to pick players.

I do love my cyberpunk settings so I definitely am intrigued.

I've been trying to find a Borg game ever since I got the first book. The one I was recently playing in ended early and I am also a fan of cyberpunk. If you need a body I'd be willing but take others first.

Although:
- I'm unfamiliar with the rules
- Have my hands pretty much full at the moment

It's hard to resist,ok? Give new players priority over me Benz, but I'd like the extra push to actually read the book.

I am also super unfamiliar with the rules and will require a glorious amount of hand-holding, if possible <3

I backed the Kickstarter and also have a copy of the rules and have already read the whole book lol. I would love to try this out before I run a game of my own.

I've been waiting for the physical before reading Cy_borg. Zipped through it today -- pretty cool. Good luck with the game! If I wasn't gearing up for my own things, I'd pitch a hat into the ring. Have been wanting to get into a BedzoneII game!

If you can resist, hold off on reading the intro adventure at the end of the book, or if you've read it already I can offer to run a different intro adventure.

And for those who've spoken up, I do truly understand the gamer itch of wanting to try many games, and yet already having our plates full. Am happy to help us negotiate and accommodate to find a balance.

While I have read the book I did hold off on reading the adventure exactly because I knew you said you were going to run a game soon lol.

I'm pushing up against my limit here a bit, but if there is still room I don't think I can resist. My sentiments captured by this as well.

Hi everyone, we completed chapter 1 of our adventure.

Heavily in debt, the runners were engaged by Charlie Sand on behalf of the Rachmos neighbourhood, whose district was being squeezed dry from their debt to whoever was behind the Lucky Flight casino. The heist was to find and erase all financial records accrued, stored in an apparently inaccessible and unhackable database. The runners get as far as discovering that the very absent casino manager, Vaska, had been employing the Steel Eels go-gang to shakedown the neighbourhood, and manage to save Batou, owner of the Battousai bodega who had unwisely tried to take down the casino by himself. The runners did not manage to get to the heart of the matter before the Cy_'s Special Ops had the place surrounded, and had to escape with whoever survived.

Now they are wanted by Cy_'s corp sec police, and the go-gangers have just about tightened every last screw around the neighbourhood. The runners need to make amends to salvage whatever can still be salvaged.

The existing players are looking to start the next chapter, and we could do with a couple more runners. The commitment is to play through this next chapter.

The system is Cy_Borg, rules-lite grimdark cyberpunk, more patina than chrome, with the world about to end or worse, its simulation reset.

I'm interested, how familiar should I be with the rules?

I'm keen to join. I would be new to both Cyborg and all other Mork Borg-based things.

Please firewall my data hogging virtual butt in exchange for any other chummers who express interest, as I'm greedily chewing a lot of bandwidth on GP as it is.

No rules experience needed, and it's rules lite, although part of the fun is the fact that there's a whole bunch of things worth rolling for.

Hi @vengefulpickle and @jochergames, I've started up the new chapter already, but I believe we can accommodate one or two more if you give me a bit to think about how you can fit in. We haven't filled the Discharged Corp Killer class, and I'll need to fish out one more class from a splatbook.

I'm happy to use the makedatanotlore generator to roll up a random character of that class if that helps, speeding up the process of character creation. Just let me know when you/if you want me :)

Invitation sent, and no need to rush through character creation with the generator. A good part of the fun is in rolling one up bit by bit and making sense of the results!
