Call of Cthulhu character sheet is bugged

Something is going on with the CoC char sheet.
The "Save and Exit" button saves, but doesn't exit. It also creates a javascript error.

The skills dropdown arrow doesn't do anything. (This is my first time using the sheet, so I don't know if that was working before)

The dodge value in the combat section does not update. (Might be related to the skill dropdown?)

It still saves and works well enough to use, so this is not very urgent :)

Hehe, that's why I added the "not very urgent" :)

There's also a typo in the Anthropology skill.

As a side-note; it's also bugged in the game forums (underneath the thread)

That's not a bug. The only built-in sheets we support for integration are:
* Custom
* DnD 5e
* Savage Worlds
* Star Wars

...and the Custom sheet has better integration than DnD 5e.

I haven't written sheet integrations for every system - the goal is to allow Custom to support everything (although it still sucks at Star Wars).

Ah, I see.

If you'd like, I can try to recreate this sheet as a custom sheet, then you can just forget about it being bugged.
Would that help you out? :)

Ideally, I think people would be using custom sheets for everything and we'll keep improving their functionality.

If we don't have a custom CoC sheet in the repository then I think creating one would be great.
Jun 22, 2022 12:04 pm
Oh it's confusing that it's listed as a supported sheet option. Maybe when it's recreated as a custom sheet the supported one can be removed?
Jun 22, 2022 12:07 pm
That'd be a bigger shift that I think is above Adam's paygrade. I think Custom sheets are turning better and better but only @Keleth can decide whether we want to actually phase the non-custom ones out. I foresee some trouble with that 😅
Jun 22, 2022 12:32 pm
Yeah. I think of the non-custom as deprecated but still supported. Except for Star Wars (and maybe others, dunno) - where the built-in sheets are still preferred.

Although custom sheets have turned out to be much better than I expected or even hoped (I wanted to make indie game custom sheet integration as good as 5e's - it turned out better, so I abandoned 5e's sheets). But they're not quite where I think they should be.

* Finding custom sheets in the repository is still trickier than it needs to be;
* Star Wars dice need supporting;
* Abilities should allow adding/editing/removing single items;
* The hack where abilities are used for multiline text was... unintended;
* Rolls have to be in tables at the moment;
* Styling is... Meh.
* No drop-down support.
Stuff like that.

Once my house is mended, I'll be looking to sort through the community suggestions for improvement.

Sounds like a good plan :)

I didn't see one. I'll try to make work of this sometime this week(end) :)

Awesome. And it shouldn't take much work to convert it for use in Delta Green as well. Which would be much more handy than the external sheet that the villain Harrigan is making us use

What do you guys think of this one?
Any changes to be made?
It looks better as an actual sheet, I promise. Limited width is a slight issue.

Very nice for how quickly you put it together! The only things I'd like to see added is the weapons area fleshed out, maybe one melee and one ranged with rolls, damage, range, ammo, etc. There are probably way too many item slots for a CoC game so that can be shortened up. And maybe follow the character sheet for the background section: scars, phobias, important people, description, etc.

@nezzeraj
Thanks. Hmm, do you have some kind of screenshot that I could try to replicate for the weapons?
If you click the little triangle on weapons it gives the stats, btw. I'm not sure if you saw that. But there might be a better way to do it.

I'll add the background sections. I did see that, but decided to model it after the embedded GP sheet instead. (I'm not a CoC gamer, so I have no idea what a good layout is)

2 more things I was thinking about. Let me know if these would be useful:
- Adding a roll button for every skill and stat.
- Splitting up the base skill % and added skill % so you only need to fill in the spending points and not the full %.
But for both of those I'd have to make the skills 2 columns instead of 3 to have some more space.

Yes, that would be great

That seems like some added trouble for not really any practical gain in my opinion
