Scene 1: Welcome to Averndale

Jun 20, 2022 9:35 pm
You all managed to meet up together while looking for passage, and manage to broker arrangements with a Merchants’ Guild caravan; either to ride on top of a box-wagon or to travel under your own power.

The journey from the nearest large settlement is made just a little harder by the rolling hills. The road’s maintenance is a subtle indicator of the state of this region. The last leg of the journey was to cross the long road through the woods from the west, moving east through rolling hills. Some in the caravan might talk of Bandits, but the party ends their tenth day through the forest and comes out finally emerging into rolling meadows and fields of wheat.

After a full day's travel through rolling hills of farmlands, ranches, and areas of felled trees, the group comes into view of the City of Averndale, a walled fortress like a dark edifice, casting a long shadow over the city sprawl in the late evening sun. The wide valley stretching out around them had begun to narrow between the hills and rise into the eastern mountain range, which even from this distance can be seen snowcapped, on the clear Spring day.

The weather is more dramatic in this elevation, but in this season it goes from relatively warm days to moisture-ridden foggy nights where the temperature drops quickly. Experienced travel’s say it is best to stay dry and keep to their shelters at night. It will soon be the time for the Kingdom-wide Spring Festivals that take place, evident by the flower wreaths that are hung out by the cattle gates and upon barns, that are plain to see as you pass by. That will bring more locals into the city than normal. There is plenty of room as the news goes.

Averndale has suffered its setbacks over the years, its geographic isolation not least among the issues, but there was little choice but to try hard each day, toiling in one’s work. The Mills and Mining would be calling the day done, and the Cows and Sheep were coming in. The tall peaks to the East cause darkness in the valley to come quicker than you think. The temperature of the air has already begun to shift as the light bends about the edge of the treeline in the west, a rise of ridges penning in a locational dead end. Once a great Trade Route through the mountain pass into the Eastern lands, the way has been closed by royal decree for longer than many remember.

"Best have your cloaks ready." One of the drivers shouts back to the crew, as several in the caravan don more appropriate attire. Another man has been pointing at the clouds for the last couple of hours. He says it looks like rain and the mist might drop down into the valley before the wagon teams will reach the City gates. He strongly advises all travelers to stay on the road until they are inside the walls of Averndale.

a cloack wouldn't hurt think Sadur looking at his cloth wrappings used for shoes... and boots for extra luxury.
Meet mayor wet like rat? Not good impression. Chop Chop faster!
Half-Orc drops his greatax and bagpack into wagon and start pushing the wagon as if it would make it any faster... He keeps his hanaxes with him nevertheless.

Having used his cloak as a protection for his prized intrument Xarakas hoped they would be able to make it into town quickly before he got all wet. He could see around him people trying to make things go faster and others tightening their clothes on them. Still the only thing he managed to do after the drivers warning was to keep walking thinking of how good the ale would after the introduction to the mayor.

Jasper isn't what any would call a combat person. He is a carpenter and a wizard. This is returning home for him after a few years away. He is all eyes on the way back.

Like any he isn't a fond of being soaked but such happens. He has nothing to help in the matter but does draw in his owl and pocket it. If evening does come, he will keep a light cantrip active.

He does ask Eldon about the weather being he is a druid, What do you think about this upcoming weather Eldon?

Xarakas looks at the man who just hid an owl in his pocket. I don't think you will get much from that fellow... he does not apear like the talkative type. Why don't you tell me what are the good spots in Averndale?
Jun 30, 2022 1:40 am
Jasper looks away from the druid and replies back to Xarakas, There's an inn that I always visit first when I come in. That way I can get a room fast and a good drink. We should go there first thing.

As the shadowy side of the mountain sets loose a slow-rolling tide of fog down into the valley as it cools, some lanterns are set and the drivers push the pace. The air is heavy and chilling and without understanding it, one can feel the moisture draw out of the air and onto their skin. Off in the distance southward a wolf howls a lonely call, unanswered as the group travels on. They stuck to the road, so what is fine is fine, and even as the visibility was lessened the group reached the outskirts of the city. Outside the walls, this late in the day there is only the line of laborers passing through to the wooden gate of the palisade. Under the scrutinous eyes of the Watch, they are inspected as they come through, the long line moving at a snail's pace.

The merchant's caravan pulls alongside the line but is stopped at the gate as well and the leader of the Caravan walks forward to speak. They are a bit out of earshot, but the observant and streetwise might have noticed the passing of a coin pouch. The driver of your wagon leans back to speak to you Adventurers directly, he has a thick yokal accent though he was technically still speaking common tongue. "Come on youngerns. Go on, git. Rides over, so you boys best get yer things'n scoot. Now you fellers don't be messin' round here with the Watch. I'll tell you now. Wanna work in Averndale? Better play nice with Lawman. And that go double for the Mayor. Good Luck, yer gonna need it." The man laughs historically at his own joke.

You are directed to wait as the caravans move, the City Watch running the checkpoint at the gate inspecting everyone coming through. Without a sound, the grey skies begin to drizzle mist from above, and the slow wagons groan and rattle as they move from dirty road to stone, entering the city proper. "Oi, you lot there. Come on step up." One of the watchman tap at his shoulder with a slender, polished cudgel looking toward the group, waiting for you to present yourselves. Their black hats and uniforms give them away but this one looks familiar to Jasper. He looks as though he might not yet recognize him, someone he grew up with in town is now a member of the Watch. "By order of the Mayor all visitors to Averndale are required to give their name and reason for staying in the city. Who is first?" He glances suspiciously between the adventurers.
Jun 30, 2022 3:26 am
Jasper pipes up, I'm Jasper and just come back again. Is there trouble now? There seems to be concern in Jasper voice.
Jun 30, 2022 10:21 am
Name Sadur! half-orc scrapes his head and continue
Reason be the invitation for an audience with your Mayor. he is obviously nervous and can't stop due to stress Huh. I can also do some lumberjack or smith work. Though that is not the reason. Human asked reason. Me here to help deal with ...
Realising he has no idea what type of assignments would Mayor have ...erhg. Sadur help with the trouble, save people, fight monsters, huh? Message say you need in some brave people here.

He finally shuts up looking at the companions as if looking for feedback on his "speech".

Orobu sent a note to GeneCortess
The guard doesn't recognize you by name, but nods in vague affirmation to the Wizard. "Ah yes..." He motions to the scribe who hides half behind the Watchman, scrawling the information the party gives. "You, Sadur you say? Is that all the name you have? You have an invitation? And you, Jasper, are you with this one? You have been in Averndale before, so you know the rules, yes?"

With a gloved hand, he invites the Adventurers out of the rain and under the cover provided by the large wooden gate. "All right you lot, I need you to declare any weapons or otherwise hazardous or harmful supplies, and any trade goods you may be carrying. Any with licenses for those personal items can show them now, or otherwise disarm and doff your armor, before entering this Peaceful City."

His demand is not aggressive, it is simply stated as fact. To enter the City of Averndale you must remove armor and turn over any and all weapons, or you do not get in at all.
Jul 5, 2022 11:35 pm
Jasper replies back, I was traveling with them here. You know. Safety in numbers and all.

All I carry is this stick and a cutting knife. (Quarterstaff & Small Knife) So. I guess that is peaceful.
Jul 6, 2022 7:18 am
Full name be Sadur Smith half-orc announce proudly - he feel honoured for humans to ask his family name. My mother Mara Smith. I don't have anyone to call a father. He shuts up realising he is probably boring the guards.

If a city is peaceful, why are you afraid of some weapons, I wonder thinks Sadur, but only says: I bet those tree cutting axes are sharper enough to pass as weapons he puts down his two handaxes and a greataxe and is about to give them over to the guard. Will I get them back when leave city?
OOC:
I mean I am confused as a player of the meaning of "turn over weapons". Does it mean I'm permanently loosing all weapons from my starting gear. Would I get them back when leaving the city?
Jul 6, 2022 12:15 pm
Xarakas hands over his rapier and dagger.
"I hope this city is as peaceful as you say it is, the name is Xarakas by way" he adds with a flourishing bow "Are we to meet the mayor now? Or so we have time to refresh ourselves from the long road"
Jul 6, 2022 5:07 pm
OOC:
@GreyWord Yep! This is while entering the city gate, but you can collect your items from the Watch-captain when you go to leave.
The Watch-captain nods several times, mostly to himself, and lists the items turned over by the adventurers under their names. "Yes yes, the staff is fine... for now." Obviously the situation could change if Jasper acted a'fool, but it is seen more commonly as a tool.

Further info was taken from Sadur, along with the weapons. There was a quiet that went across the lesser guardsmen's work as they come to understand the nature of Sadur birth. The one poor guardsman who takes the Barbarian's greataxe nearly drops it, unprepared for its weight. The captain rolls his eyes at the foolish action of his man, but turns to the Half-orc to answer his question. "You can retrieve all possession when you leave the city. You'll not have a need for axes inside the walls."

It was dark out by now, the mists and shadows were gathering against the stark flicking lights of the torches, and as Xarakas enters the coverage of the gate there is an audible gasp. The appearance of the blue-skinned and horned Tiefling from the gathering mist and shadows from the torches, caused a few hands to move to their weapons, but the skittish guardsmen look to the Watch captain, whose eyes narrowed upon the bard. After a moment of tension, the Watch Captain motions for the guards to ease off. He steps forward to take the rapier and dagger while getting a closer look at Xarakas. "Xarakas is an exotic name... "

The scribe has stopped writing at this point, handing off the book hurriedly, and runs off into town. It was not a man fleeing in fear. It was a man needing to pass important information with all haste.
Jul 6, 2022 6:11 pm
Jasper says to the others, Lets get rooms for the night and we can see the mayor in the morning. Jasper makes a fine guide as he does know the city.

Edit: GM will have to pick that place for rooms. I'm sure it is a place Jasper tends to go to.

Yes, sure. If you help me with that? Sadur feels blessed - a human and a local who will take care of the possible negotiations.
I have a bedroll of my own, but ... he takes a backpack to show the bedroll, but suddenly cries Mister guardsman! Sorry forgot those sticks! he takes 4 javelins off his back that were under the backpack. I didn't... he don't feel like talking would be of a help. Simply shrug and stretch his arm with 4 short javelins.
Jul 7, 2022 1:24 am
Leon, not liking to wait out in this dreadful weather, begins to leave a trail of excuses as he weaves his way to the front of the line and to the gate. "Excuse me…pardon me…A master of the healing arts sir… please move aside….Life and death matter… Yes of course I’ll be happy to look at it, find me at ………"
Jul 7, 2022 3:03 am
"Exoticity is a mather of where you are from" says the tiefling to the captain. Noticing the scribe leaving in a hurrry he asks "Does he always leaves his duty like that? If I was the suspicious type I'd say he is up to something. You better keep an eye on him" he winks and moves torward Jasper "Wo where was that inn you spoke of ?"
Jul 7, 2022 3:27 am
@GeneralET - As Leon comes to the gatehouse covering, he can see the Watch Captain sizing up the Tiefling, and stepping into his way when the Bard tries to pass. "The Mayor has decreed by tradition only Nobles may wear purple." It was of course ridiculous, and yet it was neither a joke nor an offense that the guard would ignore from someone 'Touched' like Xarakas. "... all visitors will comply with the lord's will or be removed from the city."

Several of the guardsmen were busy moving the various weaponry Sadur was turning over and helping him to find any other dangerous items, but they were aware of another person.

Stepping over to Leon, the Gaurdsman speaks gently. "Excuse me sir... but we will need to give your name as well and turn over any unauthorized equipment: arms and contraband please." He hasn't noticed you might not be the same quality as the rest of these adventurers.
Jul 7, 2022 2:35 pm
Leon sizes up the guard before announcing himself, "I am Nobile Leon Barchavi, of house Barchavi, 3rd cousin to Barnonesa Franchesca 4th house of Aritropa. I am a Physiker, fully trained and University Accredited."

Leon pushes some official looking documents at the guard face, making sure he gets a good look at the signet ring on his finger.

"I am carrying no…what did you call it? Contraband? I am a man of fine upbringing and a Physiker….a healer. There you have my name and my purpose here… Now let me pass"

Xarakas has the Watch-captain's attention, so if Leon wants to get past the guard without a search, give me a Persuasion, Deception, or Intimidation roll (your choice). Are you rapier and shortbow packed away, or hidden at all?
Jul 7, 2022 3:57 pm
Aside from 1 dagger, the rest is packed away. If questioned about the dagger he goes on about how as a Physiker, a sharp blade is his most important tool and goes on into a boring description of procedures done with a dagger.

The guardsmen faulters seeing official enough seals and Leon's ring and being overwhelmed somewhat as the other guardsmen were asking who was going to have to take all this gear up to the Watch headquarters to sort them. "Oh. Forgive me Sir..." He doesn't raise his voice, hoping the his Captain will not even notice that he stood in your way. Instead he follows you out a few steps into the city and asks."Sir do you need a carriage through low-town? It can be a bit rough at night."

Sadur and Jasper were also through the gate by this point, only Xarakas was being held, and expected to remove and hand over the offending purple attire. This particular rule was a shame, but the treatment of his kind was probably quite tame compared to what he has seen. His deformaties are minor compared to some, but plenty even that he will need to use his skills more than others.

A guardsman explains that the Mayor did not take audiences this late at night and would expect you all in the morning.

Inside the gates, the city was spread out from a wide central road that runs forward into the misty eve. There are torches here and there, but the light rain is uncomfortable and the darkness now hides the large fort and stonewalls of the interior, or the manor homes on the steep hillside. With a bit of squinting the party can see a line of storefronts along the road ahead and other less visible buildings stacked in thick rows behind them to either side. There was not a lot activity on the street at this time, and most were bunkering down, but ahead in the distance a fainting glowing shape hovers sationary, calling the travelers forward.
Jul 7, 2022 4:39 pm
Pleased, Leon nods at the mention of a carriage "A carriage, how thoughtful. What is your name guardsman? Should I stumble across one of you superiors, I would like to make sure they know what a fine a job your doing"

The young guardsman's thoughts turn slowly but he gets there and nods with a snap of his heeled boots. "Costable Henries, sir. Wait here out of the rain, please." He rushed off toward a nearby stable and had a young boy hitch a small buggy. Not exactly the carriage, technically, but a roofed area where Leon could sit out of the rain, to his destination.

Let all pause here as GeneralET responds and any who want to act or react to the treatment he is receiving. They are definitely not as metropolitan here.

Xarakas reluctantly removes his shirt and head bands which apparently were reserved for some people. Fortunately for him he had a spare shirt, he was about to put it on before putting it back into his bag. "Good thing its raining and it night, I won't have to fear sunburns. Have a good evening sir captain"

Putting back his backpack back on he waits for someone to show the way to the Inn
Jul 8, 2022 4:41 am
Jasper, lead the way! Sadur still hope that Jasper will help him secure a room fir the night and acompany tomorrow to the Mayor's place wherever it is
Jul 8, 2022 11:30 am
With everyone done at the gate, Jasper leads the way to retrain sleeping rooms for the night.
Jul 8, 2022 5:18 pm
The rain will soak you all to the bone if you aren't covered, but you are inside the city. The relative stillness of the air leaves the rain to fall in straight lines and as long as you have something to protect you head and shoulders you should not be too worse for wear. As you begin to walk a small passenger cart pulled but a mule pulls up to Leon. The buggy can hold one other person out of the rain, but if all of your new companions were to jump on, it will strain the horse and anger the driver, though it would still be better for them.
OOC:
Okay, what are each of your characters' plans then? Jasper, you know you should be able to get free lodging at the Guild dorms, but you also know the town. The Heart-of-Hearth Inn is 'that glow in the distance' and where everyone else should be able to get a room. Including Xarakas. The owner is a fair man. There is also the Temple of the Divines if you just want to take a free cot.
Jul 8, 2022 6:20 pm
Getting wet and cold is last problem half-orc is worried about. He was afraid to get wet before meeting Mayor, but knowing he will not meet him till the morning he have no trouble whatsoever.
Besides - walking is so easy now as he don't carry any of his weapons.
OOC:

Anyhow, Sadur is following Jasper. I bet he will help him find way to the Heart-of-Hearth Inn, where Sadur will rent a room, put his dry clothers to dry and go get some beer. As a player I hope Sadur may collect some rumors and gather information about problems around the city, but my PC is not purposefully hunting that info. So, I'm more than happy to skip to the morning and meeting with the Mayor
Jul 8, 2022 6:32 pm
Leon waits in the buggy patiently for a bit, and prods the driver to move on if there are no other takers. "A free cot?" Says Leon, "No, take me to the Inn. Clergy can be so judgmental. A free cot is never really free, wouldn’t you agree?"

OOC comment are not made IC @Basil. Those were things that are known or easily found out. There is a Temple, for example, in every major settlement that try to maintain a hostel for travelers down on their luck.

Saying nothing to the PC's though, Leon? You did travel here with them.

Jasper is leading the way with directions and really doesn't do well walking along with the cart. Besides he really doesn't want to test if his backpack is rather water resistant as he does have paper product in it.
Jul 9, 2022 9:13 pm
OOC:
I couldn't get a clear answer out of that Basil, but I'll just move on, assuming everyone will go to the Heart-of-Hearth Inn.
However the means, the four new travelers made their way down the mostly straight central road. Hound dogs howl and cats yowl, and the city sits quiet and still in the downpour. Passing storefronts and alleyways leading outward to warehouses areas, industrial parks, and ramshackle neighborhoods. The lights in the builds were sparse, and some buildings even looked as though there have been barred-closed.

Somewhere along the way, the dirt road gives way to stonework tracked roads that rise, making travel much easier and channeling away the excess water. Here the buildings are much grander, as part of the older city center, and while still, some buildings seem
unmaintained, the artistry of carpenters, smiths, and masons are on display. Many finely-crafted amenities are in use, from railings to statues to lamposts that remain lit even now.

Approaching the first real intersection, the adventurers reach their destination. Sitting directly in the crook of the road's fork, the Heart-of-Hearth Inn stands, a three-story building with a front-facing covered balcony, with a glowing sign that flickers with the illusion of firelight. The sounds within the Inn should dispel any fears of this being a ghost-town. The ruckus is a combination of shouting, cheering, dragging chairs, and mugs striking tables.

As the first of you reaches the Entrance the door bursts open, with a half-orc carrying a drunken human man by the scuff of his tunic, and tossing him off the front porch into the gutter with a splash. "Go home Pecker! You good for nothing... Oh! Oh hey! Are you new in Averndale?" The Half-orc smiles and stands aside, holding the door open. "Welcome Travelers" Waving you in from the cold drizzly weather.

Inside is a madhouse, with a little music behind it.
Jul 9, 2022 11:43 pm
Leon, looks at the drunk then back up at the bouncer with nod and a smile. " Indeed! Thank you, where can I find the proprietor?

Stepping inside Leon, surveys the gathering within.
Jul 10, 2022 1:21 am
Xarakas enter the Inn and finally let a smile on face. A nice change from the travelling road and dull weather. At least in here there was some action.

Giving his best smiles at the half-orc he starts speaking "Thanks for the warm welcome. The road has been long and I'm glad I'll finally be able to rest properly. Could you tell me who is in charge here?
Jul 10, 2022 3:34 am
Jasper glad to see the place is up to standards as always. He nods to the bouncer as he goes in and looks for a fast table to say home to and get a meal and drink. "Over there is good." He motions to an open table for the party.
Jul 10, 2022 7:37 am
Happy to meet you. Name Sadur. Sadur smiles at half-orc happy to se his kind.
With a delay he joins Jasper at the table
Jul 10, 2022 7:11 pm
The Bouncer ushers you in and points over behind the bar in order to answer Leon and Xarakas. There, a rotund human man with a magnificent mustache stands behind the bar, idly cleaning the bar as he listens intently to a group of patrons. This building was made by artists, with the interior decor matched exquisitely to the grand exterior. At the far end of the large central room was an unused stage, with extra chairs stacked upon it. It has not been in use for some time. Currently, the music is being made somewhere else, which is not obvious from here.

At the bar, the workers gathered around telling a tale about their scariest moment in the mines, finishing just as the adventurers' approached. "... an' we swear. We ain't never go back down into that Tunnel 3, ever again! Them spirits are ghosts of everyone who got killed, what when my Pappy was young." The miners nod in agreement, as the Bartender eyes them with a friendly but skeptical look. "I swear! Some of the boys are leaving gifts to appease their souls. Hopefully, the weirdness will stop if they ain't disturbed..." For the Bartender's part, he wasn't sure what to say back to the half-drunk men, but with someone else approaching he takes the opportunity to 'leave it at that', and turns to inspect the newcomers.

"Oh new faces? Welcome! Welcome to the Heart-of-Hearth. " His voice booming with Pride as he motions around them to the room. "What can Marconi do for you?"

Elsewhere in the room, Jasper and Sadur have taken a seat and a teenage boy arrives to take their order just as soon as they had settled. Jasper might know this as one-of-the-two Macroni boys, a pair of young rapscallions and scoundrels who were always getting into mischief around town when they were younger. The twins, Jacob and Jayton, were about fourteen now, and the fact that the second brother is not visible means you should keep your purse hidden away. "Hey are you Adventurers? That is super cool! You two want ale or mead, maybe try some 'Shine?" With an excited smile, the boy stops talking and waits to see what the Mage and Half-orc wanted.
Jul 10, 2022 9:13 pm
"Aye, brand new to the city," Says Leon, "Need a place to rest my head for a few days and get a decent meal, at least until I have a chance to get my practice set up. Nice place you got here by the way. Better than most. My name is Barcharvi, Leon Barchavi, pleased to meet you good sir."
Jul 11, 2022 10:36 am
Sadur is waiting for Jasper to order something and he would just say "same for me", but surprised by by he wondering aloud: What's Shine ? How much?
Jul 11, 2022 4:00 pm
Soup and shine is fine for me. I will be getting a room for the night. as Jasper is settle in and keeps an eye out for what is about. This palace like any has its troubles.
Jul 11, 2022 5:45 pm
That's right. Soup and shine room for me too! Sadur says immediately after Jasper. No ale yet... last one sound more like a question than a statement, but Sadur looks at Leon and Xarakas and cries in his harsh and grating voice Xarakas , Leon, We've got table here! Do you mind to join?
Jul 11, 2022 6:40 pm

"A pleasure Mister Barcharvi, the name is Rudolf Marconi" The bartender flourishes with a hand to add flair to his introduction. "... Rooms? It’s good that you came when you did! We’re running a deal! You will receive an upgraded room when you pay for a week in advance, what do ya say?" Marconi reaches back and taps a sign behind him on the wall above an arraignment of fancy liquor bottles and wooden casks.

The sign reads:

"Market day is Tomorrow, but most would be here for the Harvest festival at the end of the week. Should be a grand time. Please! Take off your cloaks off and relax, and tell me or 'the boys' if you should need a thing."

"Oh 'Shine? Only the best, Mister! Big feller like you is going to love it." The boy winks to Sadur, and nods to the men confirming their order. "A minstrel? Naw mister, my little sister is playing her usual up on the second floor, but we haven't had a proper entertainer in a year or so."The teen steps off to see about those drinks, leaving the party to recollect back at the table together as they wished.

In the crowd, there were mostly humans and a couple of halflings as well as a dwarf who is sitting with the group of miners at the bar. They all seem to be laborers or farmers, as well as a few of the caravan drivers who were having a drink before they would head off to a bunkhouse. Soon enough drinks and food are brought to the table.

Jasper does some Shine too. -7cp on top of 7gp. Jasper spends another 2cp for soap.
I will be at the Bunks at the Artisans' Guild tonight. We can all meet up at the mayor's in the morning.

He enjoys the evening even if it lacks really a good minstrel and went rather light on the drinking. Just a little shine to take the weather off. That and he has to march over to the Artisan's Guild later to get a bunk. By the end of the evening, Jasper should know everyone's name.

Xarakas introduces himself to Marconi smiling that there hasn't been proper entertainment here in a while. If he played his card right he might be able to strike a good deal here.

"Sir it seems you are in dire need of diversity in the entertainment domain. Your sister is quite talented without a doubt but what you need is a stage presence"

He whispers a inintelligible word and he quickly brings forth a rose from behind his then in a very theatrical way he moves his hands in front of him until... no more rose.

"My hands are kind of numb from the cold but I would gladely give your patrons the most exquisite entertainment in the upcoming days... In exchange for a place to stay and a meal"
OOC:
The rose was a prestigitation

Marconi's eyes lit up as he watched Xarakas perform his magick, and lowers his voice to regain the Bard's attention. "Easy with the magick, friend. Folks are superstitious 'round here." He looks to the miners who had gone back to their table by now. Marconi shifts back to the topic. "Your name... I have heard it before... "

Anything else for anyone? You may still talk to each other if you want, and otherwise I'll set up the next scene.

"Leon raises an eyebrow and gives the boy a smile, "You know, what people appreciate boy? Privacy. People will pay very well to keep their business to themselves. One of the first oaths a Physicker takes is to respect the privacy of a paying client."

"Leon, begins to roll a silver coin between his fingers."

"Should you come across anyone that appreciates their privacy and needs some special services, please let them know, I too appreciate privacy. You think you can do that for me?"
