Hello all, nice to meet you. Was thinking circle of the moon Druid, but could be talked into arcane trickster rogue or some sort of wizard. I’d prefer to not overlap too much if at all possible. I’ll be using point buy. Chicken dinner ok?

Alright! Thanks you two. I’ll start rolling up a character tomorrow. Tentatively landing on a somewhat hapless (at least in an urban setting) wood elf circle of the moon druid who has been thrust into a town setting by a series of ridiculous and thoroughly unanticipated events. To her surprise, she’ll find that rolling with the punches, meeting non wood elves and landing in odd places is rather entertaining.

I found time to build a character today. Meet Tordek Hammerfist, sturdy dwarf fighter. I submitted him to the game.

As a question for the group and the DM, what sort tone is everyone looking for? Serious? Gritty? Light? How much 4th wall are we looking to have?

@adar I was thinking about a wood elf as well, but a bit more urban. Would you be interested in a country mouse city mouse cousin dynamic?

Erzebette is a lanky, long-fingered wood elf with a ready smile and a soothing voice. She has darkly tanned skin and silver hair usually done up in elaborate braids that evoke a certain elves-of-legend look. Her clothing is deliberately modeled after the sort of wizard in stories who travels from town to town pretending to be nothing more than a wise old person, but whom clever people can spot as a secret font of power and prophecy. In this guise she moves from town to town selling bunk blessings and sham curses, and "wondrous" items. And then often leaves in a hurry at night before people catch wise.



Also @Northstar404 can I have a bat familiar?

Edit: I'm open to suggestions on the spell selection. Might swap out feather fall for comprehend languages?

Wood Elf Circle of the Moon druid has been rolled up, although I need to error check it and get my spells sorted. Picked Guidance and Shape Water as my cantrips if you’re curious. Description and backstory follows.

Appearance and demeanor: 123 years old, 5' 8" tall, 100 lbs. Brown hair, brown eyes, copper colored skin. Simply dressed. Her fae ancestry written in her features, Lyrielle is understated and out of her element in crowded settings, especially given that she spent the last 40 years in relative isolation. Her usual approach is to let others do the talking until she knows all parties well, which may play into some of the less flattering stereotypes attached to wood elves. But while she is reserved, she bears none of the arrogance typically attributed to her kind, has a remarkable penchant for whimsy and takes a surprising delight in the absurd.

Backstory: I hail from the northwestern edge of The High Forest where it borders the Evermoors. The forest is full of mysteries, with tunnels leading to the Underdark, and the moors are plagued by trolls. Bravado will at best get you nowhere in my homeland. My tribe is reclusive, raising generation after generation of druids to protect this important borderland between the marshland and verdant forest. Part of this rich tradition is a requirement to spend the forty years that straddle the threshold of adulthood in absolute isolation.

I'll admit, the isolation did not come naturally to me. I'm sure my mother would be disappointed if she knew. Oh, let's be honest. I'm certain she knows. She always knows. I've spent the last 40 years talking to anything that moves, and nearly anything that doesn't. I'm quiet about it, but I just can't help myself. So it should not surprise you that when I stumbled across an injured werebear blubbering into his handkerchief at the base of a large oak, I knew his name was Burwin, and that he was in arrears at the Calling Horns not to mention a several hours’ walk from home. The basket at his feet was filled with blackberries, but his ankle was twisted too badly to walk. He's a nice enough sort, so I patched him up and helped carry his basket home while he limped along beside me. This resulted in me drinking too much beer for my weight which somehow evolved into my agreeing to deliver a birthday pie to his cousin Florian in Beliard. Turns out, Florian was quite sweet. Knows a lot about bookbinding, which is rather odd for a werebear if you ask me. Anyhow, since it wasn't so far out of my way, I wound up returning his sister Maybelle's cloak to her in Westbridge, since Florian had borrowed it the month prior and hadn't the opportunity to do it himself. Once in Westbridge I decided I really ought to take the opportunity to visit Kryptgarden Forest because, I mean... it was right there. That turned out to be a little much. So I spent a day recovering in Leilon, which of course is right on the High Road. And once I was on the High Road, I figured I might as well go see the sights of Neverwinter while the weather held. I mean, if I am going to suffer the approbrium of my clan, I figure I ought to make it worthwhile. I vaguely remember that I have a distant relative who settled around Neverwinter. What was their name again? Erzabelle? Erzabette?

Hah! This feels like it’s going to work out great Adar! Clearly a character who just needs a sophisticated urbanite to show them around, take them to the hottest spots of a big city, run some subtle two man cons with them, and teach them how to hide from the city watch in the park. Highballs and mayhem, cousin!

@GeneCortess,@JoshuaMabry do y'all wanna tie backstories together before we get going? Or set up some expectations about things my character should or shouldn't do to avoid making it impossible to work with y'all's?

@Kelsenella we haven't heard from you yet, what are you thinking for a character?

I'd like to know what @Northstar404 has in mind for an adventure hook. Does it help if all our characters know each other? Or do you have some other way of bringing us together?

Hello! I apologize for the delay in response. My character idea was a feral tiefling outlander. Originally it was going to be a rogue of some type, however looking through the chat I see we have one already, so I'm thinking maybe a caster or a ranger. I'm actually looking at the books now to figure out which one I like better.

The character has been completed. Decided on a tiefling ranger.

Just realized I gave Lyrielle a shortsword and a longbow since as a wood elf she is proficient and those seem more in keeping with her background and race, but they're not in the druid list of gear. Would you prefer if I went with the druid list of weapons instead?

Well, since your character is proficient with them, and you feel that that they fit your character better I’m fine with your character using a short and long bow instead of the standard druid weapons.

I'm kind of glad I didn't go rogue for this, I didn't want to have to deal with sneak attack. I haven't done a play by post game in a while So I apologize in advance if I mess something up. (Just yell at me if I do) I'll just sit back and shoot things or smack them if needed. :P

I decided Hope was just kind of like a hermit character in the end, in the background personality types things in the handbook, there was the "I was literally raised by wolves" and how could I not use that for inspiration.

Doing okay as well. Spent the last night in the animal ER because my kitten got stepped on because she's a rogue IRL and ran under my SO's foot while we were trying to feed her and our other two cats. She's alright though, was more shook up than anything.

Oh no! I’m glad she’s alright, but that had to be frightening and exhausting. (And expensive.) Sounds like she has the halfling-lucky trait!
