Dice rolls and such here

Determine Characteristics
Roll 3D6 multiplied by 5 for the characteristics STR, CON, DEX, APP, and POW.
Roll 2D6+6 multiplied by 5 for SIZ, INT, and EDU.

(The multiply by 5 you need to manually as the dice roller doesn't support multiplication)

Also decide an age for your character as that will impact stats (older gives you a more educated character but weaker physically)

There is a dedicated 7e character sheet or if yo prefer custom sheets, you can grab from the repository.

Base stats:

So STR = 4055
CON = 75
DEX = 30
APP = 50
POW = 3550

Rolls

STR - (3d6)

(314) = 8

CON - (3d6)

(654) = 15

DEX - (3d6)

(114) = 6

APP - (3d6)

(424) = 10

POW - (3d6)

(124) = 7

Additional stats:

SIZ=90
INT=85
EDU=65

Rolls

SIZ - (2d6+6)

(66) + 6 = 18

INT - (2d6+6)

(65) + 6 = 17

EDU - (2d6+6)

(16) + 6 = 13

Let's have him be 43 years old.
Oct 12, 2022 10:08 pm
Nice, so very smart but mentally quite weak (Pow determines your sanity stat)
Oct 12, 2022 10:10 pm
ok so 43, deduct 5 from either STR, CON or DEX (or you can split the points between any of them)
Reduce APP by 5

Also make 2 improvement checks for EDU. To make an improvement check, roll 1d100 and if you fail (get over your stat) you gain 1d10 points
Oct 12, 2022 10:12 pm
He's also massive with a Size of 90, either very tall, very well built or obese (between 240-300 lbs)

New stats based on age:

STR = 4055
CON = 70
DEX = 30
APP = 45
POW = 3550
SIZ=90
INT=85
EDU=67

Rolls

Improvement Check - (1d100)

(39) = 39

Improvement Check - (1d100)

(76) = 76

Additional EDU - (1d10)

(2) = 2

Oct 12, 2022 10:18 pm
so gain 1d10 EDU for that second roll
Oct 12, 2022 10:24 pm
OK your str and siz combined is 130

That gives you a build of 1 and damage bonus +1d4 (added to all melee damage)

Con and Siz is 160, that gives you 16 hit points

Your move score (str and dex) is 7 but -1 for your age, so Move = 6

Now to decide on occupation. Do you have something in mind?
Oct 12, 2022 10:24 pm
Hmm, with the relatively low strength and dex, I am assuming a rather tubby pseudo-intellectual type. Catches on very quick but not very educated. Perhaps a seedy newspaper journalist?

Journalist sounds good, unless you see something else that interests you

Hmmm I am now kind of leaning towards a parapsychologist. Someone who spends some time debunking but does believe in other supernatural things he has witnessed, has some knowledge of the occult, etc if that works with my stats?
Oct 12, 2022 10:58 pm
Sure! Ok let me pull up what that means for you.

Parapsychologist
Parapsychologists do not pretend to enjoy extraordinary powers, but instead spend their e orts attempting to observe, record, and study such instances. Sometimes nicknamed "ghost hunters," they make use of technology to try to capture hard evidence of paranormal activity that may be centered on a person or a location. A major portion of their time is spent debunking fake mediums and mistaken phenomena rather than recording actual evidence.
Some parapsychologists will specialize in the study of particular phenomenon, such as extra sensory perception, telekinesis, hauntings, and others.
Prestigious universities grant no degrees for parapsychology. Standards in the eld are based entirely upon personal reputation, and so the most acceptable representatives tend to hold degrees in related areas— physics, psychology, or medicine.
Those who choose this path are unusually sympathetic to the notion of invisible mystical powers and in validating that belief to the satisfaction of physical scientists. This would represent an unusual cohabitation of faith and doubt— the parapsychologist may have difficulty separating the conflicting desires. A person uninterested in observation, experimentation, and proof is not a scientist, though he or
she may be an occultist.

Occupation Skill Points: EDU × 4 (268)
Credit Rating: 9–30
Suggested Contacts: Universities, parapsychological
Publications.
Skills: Anthropology, Art/Craft (Photography), History, Library Use, Occult, Other Language, Psychology, any one other skill as a personal or era specialty.

So you can split those points among those skills. Credit Rating must be between 9 and 30 (your choice) but this comes from this occupational pool
Oct 12, 2022 11:00 pm
In addition, you have personal interest skills, the points amount to your INT x 2 (170). this can be for any skills, including firearms and brawl skill. The exception is Cthulhu Mythos.

I'm going to hit the sack now, so will pick this up in the morning
Oct 13, 2022 12:30 am
OOC:
Actually there’s an optional rule I’m going to throw you here. If you have three rolls under 10 you may have some extra points to add to your stats.roll d6 and distribute it among your lowest three rolls (before multiplying by 5)
Oct 13, 2022 8:29 am
Regarding skills: You can spread them however you like, the only caveat being there’s an initial cap of 75 on skills. Note that some skills have a base (not sure how they show on the GP sheet, so you’ll need to Google a character sheet, or see it in the free QuickStart ruled and add it manually)
