Jane hops in the car to drive around town. You're pretty sure she shouldn't go alone, so you all manage to get in the car with her - whether she likes it or not.
She drives to the hardware store. But it's closed. She drives to some friends' houses, but they aren't home. The town seems empty. You have only one clue, and that's Cavendish Farms. So that's where you go.
A lot of cars are parked at the farm - but not parked in neat rows like people normally do. Just left here and there. You get out to explore the farm. As you make your way through the field, you see chickens. They're coming towards you. What's wrong with them? The chickens have gone wrong!
Tentacles, beaks, and feathers. Live chicken monsters! It's a nightmare. You manage to get away, but where's Jane? She disappeared in the madness. What is going on?
Exploration leads you to an old wooden building near the farmhouse. You can tell by the smell that this is where the farmer kills the chickens to take them to market. But there's another smell too - like salt water and death.
Inside the building, people are lying on the floor. They must have all eaten bad chicken like Jane. It made them crazy, and now they're here, lying on the floor. And there's Jane! and Jim! And Applie Tart's owner too. And scattered everywhere are eggs. All the eggs are vibrating.
The eggs crack. They don't hatch though. Little tentacles break out of the shells, and then the tentacle eggs get up and walk - each one walking to one of the people. This can't be good. So you fight! And then someone comes in the door. It's famer Cavendish - only there's something on his head. It's a big tentacle-rooster, sitting there like a horrific hat, with its tentacles are burrowed into his head. This is the root of the evil. And it must be stopped!
It's all a blur. Other cats and dogs from around town show up too. It's a horrific fight, but in the end, you stop the rooster monster. You stop the eggs. You save Jim and Jane.
It turns out that this building used to be something different. Something darker. The meeting place for a cult of Doggone - the god of evil things in the sea. Underneath the floorboards, there is another floor - one made of stone. It is carved with symbols of the Doggone cult. It seems that when farmer Cavendish began using this building to slaughter chickens, the chicken blood seeped through the cracks in the floor. It dripped on the stone. And it awoke something terrible. But now it's been stopped. Thanks to you.
So life goes back to normal. The humans don't seem to comprehend everything that happened. They tell themselves lies - only they believe them. But maybe that's just as well. Human brains are fragile. Better that they be happy and oblivious, so they can focus on the important things - like giving you food and pets and treats. It's been a rough couple of days, but you came out on top.
And of course you did. You're cats.
