Merrik - Paladin of the Sun

Jul 15, 2016 7:53 am
You stand at the bonfire, a corpse of a hollow lies near by. You see it has a key on it, but you don't care what it unlocks. You know that a shaft near by leads into to the prisons below the chapel, in a fit of desperation you cast the corpse down into it. Perhaps some other pour soul can escape to fulfil the prophecy. You sit down at the fire and despair. It won't be long until you go hollow like that corpse.

The clouds part, bathing you in a ray of light. Your resolve returns, you get up once more, pick up your sword and shield. You feel filled with purpose once more. But you can't quite remember what that purpose is.

You stand at the bonfire, behind you is the is a grave yard, and the ruins of an old town. Before you, the undead chapel.
Jul 15, 2016 7:59 am
Looking back to the town, Merrik envisions the people that used to live here, he swells up with a sudden burst of anger, fires burn in his eyes. I fill my flask with ectus, stand up grab my sword and sheild and march slowly towards the church doors.
Jul 15, 2016 8:12 am
The church is a foreboding building, it towers over the country side with it's twin bell towers. The front door is guarded by two hollows in scrappy scale armour and chipped longswords.
Jul 15, 2016 8:20 am
Drawing my sword, i stride forward with fire in my eyes i close in on the hollows

OOC:
:not a hundred percent sure how combat works on here

OOC:
For now, combat will be quite loose, I'll assume you always have the jump on any enemies you attack, so you get to take your action first. Then they will respond. As for how to take your turn. Just describe your action, and then write in ooc any clarifying remarks and then roll. I prefer if you roll to hit and damage at the same time, and if it doesn't hit I'll just disregard the damage. That way you dont need to wait for me to say it hits, and them me to ait for you to roll damage.
Jul 15, 2016 3:16 pm
I swing my long sword at one of the hollows.

Rolls

To hit - (1d20+5)

(3) + 5 = 8

Damage - (1d8+4)

(4) + 4 = 8

Jul 15, 2016 3:21 pm
Your swing falls wide of the hollow, and the two strike back against you. The first hollow goes for a lunge, which you easily deflect with your shield, but in the process you open up your flank and the second hollows strike barely being deflected by your armour.
OOC:
Your move.

Rolls

Hollow 1 to hit - (1d20)

(4) = 4

Hollow 1 Damage - (1d8)

(2) = 2

Hollow 2 to hit - (1d20)

(17) = 17

Hollow 2 Damage - (1d8)

(8) = 8

Jul 15, 2016 3:42 pm
But i quickly raise my sword and spin from the hollow and strike against the one i blocked with my sheild
OOC:
:my ac is higher

OOC:

Bringing your sword down, your blow crushes through the hollows old armour, cutting it deeply across its torso. The hollow falls to the ground. The remaining hollow mindlessly swings at you swinging wide.
OOC:
Finish it

Rolls

Roll to hit - (1d20)

(3) = 3

Damage - (1d8)

(1) = 1

Jul 16, 2016 5:19 am

(5) + 3 = 8

The second hollow crumbles beneath your blade. You feel their essence flow into you. Invigorating you.
OOC:
You have gained 2 hollow souls
The door to the undead church lies before you.
Jul 16, 2016 5:33 am
OOC:
what do the hollow souls do?
Jul 16, 2016 5:34 am
I stride to towards the door and kick them open
Jul 16, 2016 5:43 am
OOC:
For now, the souls will just sit in your inventory. You'll find a use for them latter.
The first level of the undead church is a tattered mess. Debris covers the floor made of rotting wood. A second level balcony surrounds the wall. On the balcony, three hollows stand with bows clasped in there dead hands. Sunlight shines through the great stain glass window illuminating a figure clad in decrepit full plate and a filthy white cape. The window shows a motif of fire and light, with arcs of lightning striking down some dark creature.
Jul 16, 2016 5:51 am
OOC:
aproximetly how far away is the guy in the white cape?
Jul 16, 2016 7:01 am
The caped figure stands infront of the altar at the head of the church, about 40 feet away.
Jul 16, 2016 6:16 pm
OOC:
would i be able to burning hands the archers?
Jul 17, 2016 3:08 am
If you stand right up underneath one of them you'll be able to reach one, but they are too spread out to get both.
Jul 17, 2016 7:03 am
I reach back grabbing a javalin sim for one of the archers and hurl it. Then i draw my sword and sheild prepared to kill these monstrosites!

The javelin lands wide of it's target, but alerts all the hollows in the room to your presence. The two archers take pot shots at you, while the caped hollow moves with surprising speed across the room lunging at you with its spear. The first arrow lands true slamming into your side, you just manage to bring your shield up in time to block the second arrow and the spear.
OOC:
Take 6 damage, ignore the spear damage, I didn't mean to roll it.

Your blow strikes fear into the speared hollow, which turns to flee, opening its back to a quick strike.
Jul 21, 2016 5:40 am
My blade swings cutting at his back and ends with me landing on a knee absorbing tge rest of the poer behind the low cutting blow
Jul 21, 2016 7:13 am
OOC:
Did you not want to make an attack of opportunity as the caped hollow flees?
Jul 21, 2016 5:51 pm

Jul 23, 2016 12:30 pm
OOC:
Normally yes, but he's already low and you just decimated him.
Your strike lands heavy against the figure, almost severing it in two.
OOC:
You have gained a Winged Knight soul. His spear does not turn to ash and ember and you can loot it spear, it's a +1 Pike
The two hollows continue to shoot you. One arrow missing the mark, but the other driving painfully into your chest.

There is a ladder leadin up to the left hand balcony.
Jul 27, 2016 2:55 pm
I hurl another javalin at the archer on the right then run over to the ladder on the left and attempt to climb it.

Your javalin flies through the air struck the arch square in the torso, and it crumples.

You gain a hollow soul, 2 arrows remain in the ash of the hollow
You mount the ladder with haste and close with the remaining archer, who attempts to strike you one effectively with its bow stave.

Your sword drives deep into the hollows torso almost cutting it in two.
OOC:
You gain a hollow soul.
Silence returns to the room. From your vantage point on the balcony you can see a hatch hidden behind the alter.

Rolls

Loot? - (1d20)

(1) = 1

Aug 2, 2016 4:39 pm
Merrick rushes around the room trying to find anything of use in to of wjy he is here or things that could help in surviving.

Rolls

Loot - (1d20)

(7) = 7

Aug 4, 2016 1:31 pm
OOC:
sorry about the lack of clarity, the loot? rolls are actually me generating the loot, not asking you to check for it. I will take the roll you just made as the perception check to search the room for treasure, and add your bonus...
During the fight you absorbed a winged knight soul and 2 hollow souls. On the ground you can pick up a winged spear and 2 arrows.

On the alter you find a waning stone. Your search around the room is suddenly distracted by the sound of the heavy trap door moving.

The story continues here.

The visions of the others fade and you are left alone once more. The hollows that stood guard over the doors have returned, presumably those inside have too.
