What level are we starting at? Just level 1?
Jul 24, 2016 7:27 pm
Yep, level 1.
Jul 24, 2016 7:28 pm
Can I use the Varient human and do you want me to re-roll that 20 on the spread?

You can use the Variant in order to gain feat if you wish. Not sure what you mean about the 20...
Jul 24, 2016 7:38 pm
When I rolled stats one of the numbers I rolled was a natural 20, i've never had that before but the character has no minus stats. I just want to be sure this is ok.
Jul 24, 2016 7:41 pm
You rolled wrong i think. Compare to the way i did it
Jul 24, 2016 7:42 pm
I rolled one dice in correctly then the other properly. The top number is incorrect.
Jul 24, 2016 7:44 pm
Ah, you need to throw out the lowest die roll from each total. That 20 is a 16 after the 4 is removed.
Jul 24, 2016 8:00 pm
I submitted my character szemely. Does he look good?
Jul 24, 2016 8:04 pm
Just approved. Have to get some supplies and work traits, bonds, etc. Just noticed there's no Class specified either.
Jul 24, 2016 8:09 pm
Really? I'll go edit everything. Can't believe I forgot that stuff, lol.
Jul 24, 2016 9:17 pm
Are we exspecting one more player to begin?
Jul 24, 2016 9:21 pm
Two more. Gamers Plane is kind of dead on the weekends so may not hear from them until tomorrow.
Jul 24, 2016 9:22 pm
I know someone who might be interested
Jul 24, 2016 9:24 pm
I have invites sent to the others (they're both from a one-shot that I just finished running), just waiting to see if they're interested or not.
Jul 24, 2016 9:26 pm
If you're curious to see how I normally run things, feel free to check out either of these two games:

Jul 24, 2016 9:28 pm
I'll have a look, just wondering how to fit our characters stories together considering how Tiamet begins.
Jul 24, 2016 9:32 pm
All of the characters should know each other, or at the very least have met before traveling to Greenest. Escorting supplies or perhaps a local businessman into the town would work. Could be as simple as having a character or two that live there and you're all stopping there after your latest adventure.
Jul 24, 2016 9:36 pm
You're a Bard right? Perhaps I saw you perform at the local tavern and enjoyed your performance enough to hire you to accompany me and share your tales
Jul 24, 2016 9:44 pm
Do you have an idea for a starting point like Waterdeep? I can work it out from there.
Jul 24, 2016 11:35 pm
Waterdeeps a bit north of Greenest. Maybe start in Baldurs Gate? It's the city of opportunity, which is common ground for adventurers to meet.

Sounds good I'll have a thinkcabd come up woth something that's easy to tie into he others stories.
Jul 24, 2016 11:42 pm
Hey Szemely, do you want us to post here for our start?
Jul 24, 2016 11:58 pm
You can post here to get an idea of how the characters know each other and why they're headed to Greenest. Once we get all four players going you can all finalize your ideas and we can go from there.
Jul 25, 2016 12:34 am
Hey all. I've got a dwarf Cleric submitted. An astronomer (sage) and priest of Sylvanus. Dwarves are notorious for ale, so I'm happy to be a drinking buddy.
Jul 25, 2016 12:40 am
Leaning back against an old oak chair, Do'urth adjusts himself to the discomfort and continues sharpening one of his daggers. I guess this is what I deserve living cheap He frowns and silently regrets purchasing the cheapest room in the inn. However, it is the more discreet, hidden off room where nobody would suspect me well... working. He slams his dagger into the table, and pulls out his employers letter, reading it again to recapture the details. "Do'urth, I reckon you're a bit tired of the common forgery, and after you lost your friend in that con, no wonder why you left Amn. However, I know you're too smart to pass up good coin. I need you to travel to Greenest, and assassinate a pretty lass who acts as a farmer, but is a criminal at heart, the damned thief. She's the one who broke into the Guild and stole your friends personal items, and framed him to his death. Look, I wish I could do it, but I'm getting old, and you're one of our brightest, and deadliest rogues. I know you loved her, and nine hells, I wish it were me, but sitting around isn't going to do anything... Do'urth fights the tears welling up in his eyes, but then fights back with force, and he calms down, and finishes off the letter. Don't do anything stupid. At the end of the day it's just another contract, so I'm trusting you'll be fine. My best regards, Nuyri. Do'urth looks up, and glares at his dagger, the candlelight reflecting of the sterling steel blade, and I smile. Greenest isn't but a few days from Baldurs Gate. I'll be there in no time, but what should I do to arrive in an inconspicuous manner? Do'urth ponders for a few moments as he start to twist my blade in the rotwood desk. Yes... the Bard. I can act as a traveller passing by with a storyteller as company. Perhaps I can blend in with others who may be heading that direction? No disguise is necessary yet. Do'urth feels content with his plan, blows out the candle, and gears back up to head out.
Jul 25, 2016 6:38 am
Triana opened the door to the latest inn on her six month tour through the region, the last three months had been spent further north in Waterdeep. Triana had stayed in Baldurs gate for the last three months seeking out stories she could retell, an exploration of the towns many sites had turned up a number of threads none of which had been as interesting as she'd hoped. This new Inn she hoped would be more interesting, it was a small place, less filthy then "The Blushing Mermaid" and filled with less competition then "Elfsong Tavern". She surveyed the customers and approached the bar ordering a drink and spending the day establishing a potentially good repor with the staff learning what sort of songs the place would host.

Throughout the day she observed all sorts of people, more normal folk then adventurers, though she observed many who looked like they could be, at least a few Dwarves, Humans the odd Elf and a fair few Halflings. Triana mingled with the other patrons until night came. That Trish stepped onto what passed for a stage in the inn and began to play choosing seemed the most likely to get a favourable reaction from the crowd.
Jul 25, 2016 11:42 pm
Mogguth Barbedbraid rolls her mailed shoulders as she contemplates her choices. Shady inn, or stable. Both had merit. The stable would keep the rain off her armor, at least, and a few cons would secure her a passable repast. Tomorrow, she'd continue down the Traders Road to Greenest, and being that, Baldur's Gate. Someday she'd track down Heady Lapole, but not today, was likely.

She grunted. Every town, she had this conversation with herself, and she knew it. Dwarfborn stubbornness, the townsfolk would no doubt say. Not there were any dwarves in the area to speak of, so how they would know, she knew not. Human rashness, no doubt.

Shield held at arm, battleaxe gripped "non-threateningly" just below the blade, she pushed open the door to the inn.

A tallish man immediately walked into her, and bounced backwards to a stop. "Oaf," she grumbled. He looked as if he were going to make challenge, but then stepped aside.

"Stubborn dwarf," he replied. Yup, should always take the stable.
Jul 27, 2016 12:52 am
Looks like we've got the last player and character submitted, so I'll make an initial post tomorrow evening and we'll be off.
Jul 27, 2016 11:32 pm
And we're off. New post in the Greenest in Flames forum.
Jul 27, 2016 11:34 pm
After the dwarf's brusque entrance a slim elf with a hooded cloak enters. He's quiet and appears withdrawn. His gaze roams over the patrons of the bar. A hand is placed on the dwarf's shoulder and he points to an open table at the back.
Jul 28, 2016 12:28 am
OOC:
So did we have time to talk with each other?
Jul 28, 2016 1:25 am
Sure. You can all continue playing out the meeting in this thread while we play the story in the other if you'd like.
Jul 29, 2016 7:37 am
OOC:
I guess more chattong is in order
As Trish played she looked out upon the crowd gathering in the bar adjusting what she played based on the reaction.

I don't think they like that perfornance.

Performance because well why not - (1d20+4)

(3) + 4 = 7

Jul 29, 2016 1:25 pm
The dwarf walks into the tavern room and finds a place to sit that will fit both her and Tayleron. A signal to the barkeep ensues and she approaches the bar.

"We need a room or two for the night, ale, wine, and food." She drops a few silver down to cover her request and spies out the room. Her nose twitches as if searching for a putrid stench, but she seems satisfied with the result.

Meeting Tayleron's gaze she notices the performer, who is giving an indifferent sort of performance. She seems talented to Mogguth, just distracted. Her muscles tense, remembering a doppelganger infestation they fought through recently.

Do'urth exits his quarters, and casually sits at the bar, and he pulls out 3 copper and slams it on the table. Ale please. As he drinks his ale, his focus draws to the folk in the tavern.

Is that... a she-dwarf? I could've swore they didn't exist. Do'urth chuckles at the sight, and realizes something even more unusual is happening. Is that... an elf? With a Dwarf? the Half Breed shakes his head in amazement, with a subtle hint of curiosity and confusion. He turns his eyes to the Bard, her performance is rather weak, but she seems decent.

Do'urth sips his ale; cheap, but effective. He starts to daze off, his mind lost in the clouds and focused on the letter he received.
Jul 29, 2016 4:26 pm
OOC:
Bloody hell those are some bad perform rolls
As Triana continues to play she notices that more of the crowd ignoring the performance after a further few minutes of at best luke warm attention. Triana stopped she bowed then exspected left the stage feeling telieved that nothing had been tossed at her. She approached the bar gear in hand and took a seat. "Pass me a bottle of wine, she said laying what she assumed was enough money on the counter. Triana surveyed the room taking note of the half Orc sottong not to far." She wasn't sure what to think other then perhaps he might present an opportunity.

Triana's logical side told her not to bother reminding her of her poor performance just now. The whole situation made it unlikely that anyone would take her questioning them seriously.

Performance - (1d20+4)

(2) + 4 = 6

Jul 29, 2016 5:08 pm
Do'urth notices the bard sitting at the bar. He reaches into his pouch, and flicks a gold coin at the innkeep. The lass has had a bad night, give her the best with this, huh?

The halfbreed quietly sighs, and regrets parting with coin, but with a smile (fake of course), he puts on the front of a decent person, continuing to disguise the indifferent, hardened assassin he is. However, his smiles retreats back into a blank, and he continues to think about the letter.
Jul 30, 2016 7:00 am
Trish gave the Half Orc a look eyebrow raised "Thank you, I didn't exspect any gifts for such a bad performance. Or perhaps their is more to this?" She turned to face him an amused look on her face, "Perhaps the Half-Orc has a tale or two?" She offered her hand "My name is Triana but I also go by Trish for no particular reason." She watched the half orc watching his face curious to see if his expression might give anything away.

Insight - (1d20+3)

(5) + 3 = 8

Jul 30, 2016 1:18 pm
Mogguth approaches the performer and her companion, whom she ignores. "Yer performance was o'er short. Did ye need wine to sing? If so, I pray you continue and wine you shall have. And if the local oafs," Mogguth gives the companion (Do'urth) a telling look, "give you any trouble, come sit with us."

She nods gruffly to the two of them and returns to Tayleron.
Jul 30, 2016 4:00 pm
Do'urth chuckles for a brief moment, takes a sip of his Ale, and turns to face the shedwarf before she leaves. I'm no trouble. Im just a travelling merchant heading to Greenest.
Jul 31, 2016 12:54 am
She turned to the Dwarven woman and nodded "the Performance was short, sadly unless I get a request I'm done tonight. Your offer is certainly apprexiated however".
Jul 31, 2016 1:21 am
"Greenest, aye. We be headed the same way."

She eyes the merchant with undisguised dubiousness. " The road is shorter with more to watch for wyverns and the like. Though we be no caravan guards."
Jul 31, 2016 1:38 am
Do'urth notices the dwarfs doubts and quickly comes up with a bluff. A merchant without a bodyguard is a doubtful sight indeed, but alas, I prefer saving coin, and so I learned how to defend myself and my goods instead. Do'urth smiles, and takes another gulp of the ale. Anyway, I'd enjoy your company if you're interested? Do'urth turns to Triana You're invited as well. He finishes his ale, and wipes the froth off his lips. I'll be leaving in the morning. He waves goodbye, and heads back to his room.

PCs will level at the end of certain chapters along the way. I'm not going to track XPs.

Triana turned to each of them, perhaps we could gather "I suspect you may have tales worthy of retelling. My master taught me that tales of the heroic will always inspire the populus to seek great things. Though I've found it is occassionally the tales of normal folk that inspire as well." She stood accepting the wine from the bartender who spoke "If you want a room liv your going to have to perform at least anuther hour." Triana waved him off I have more in my repertoiré I'll earn my keep for the night she said taking a drink before strpping back onto the stage avoiding the rubbish.

Just wanted to check real quick Szemely do we have the items from the Falu campaign or not. I still have them.

Sure, I think it's just a potion of healing, yes?

On another note, busy end of the week here, but I'll have a post up this evening.

Hey, I'm going to withdraw from this game because my best friend is DMing this module for my friends and I, so I don't want to have already experienced everything. Thanks for the game so far though, see ya.
Sep 13, 2016 2:32 am
So who's still here and who's still interested in continuing?

I'm still here and good to go.

Still here as well.

Cool, we'll continue with three then and I'll scale some of the encounters back a bit. I'll have a post up tomorrow evening that assumes you are all hiding in the tunnel until the patrol passes.

Monkey flu, eh? Sounds hilarious.

I'm good. Little kink no second floor, but hey, do with what you have.

Yea Tay is good right up until they stick him.
Dec 3, 2016 12:56 am
I could roll something else. I'll try to think up a concept.
Dec 3, 2016 1:01 am
I think this last encounter will take us to the morning. Whatever you roll up can be waiting in the keep and join the crew on the next part of the adventure.
Dec 3, 2016 11:51 am
It's definitely very dicey here and Triana still doesn't know who's alive.

Join the crew, eh? Haha. Things look dire for our intrepid heroes.
Dec 5, 2016 12:49 am
So, we have one dead and two unconscious, which basically finishes out this chapter of the adventure. How would everyone like to proceed?
Dec 5, 2016 1:46 am
I'm not sure, when I played this one before the cult offered up a duel option to the people in the castle. But I think that's beyond our characters.
Dec 5, 2016 2:17 am
Tough situations for three characters. I guess I'm uncertain how we continue. Maybe the two T's get rescued or snuck into the castle, etc. Or it's a TPK; we sacrificed ourselves to save the citizens.
Dec 5, 2016 2:37 am
It is tough on three. Tried to balance things out a bit by making the roaming groups smaller than what's published. Seems like a tough go all around for 1st level characters.
Dec 5, 2016 11:20 am
Yea that's a tough one on three. Having no healing or magic didn't help either. As for proceeding not really sure at this point. Maybe try and get a few more players perhaps.
Dec 6, 2016 8:52 am
I feelwe should attempt to continue and attract new players, consider alternatives to out characters being actively killed.
Dec 11, 2016 3:36 am
I'm going to look to add at least one more player before we continue on. We'll wrap up this first chapter with Triana and Tayleron waking in the morning and heading back to the keep. There they will run into Qralloq's new character and the new character for whoever we pick up as additional characters.

I do try avoid outright killing PCs, throwing in NPCs with extra potions or whatnot, but splitting the party with that big of a group hammering its way into the temple was going to be hard to workaround with out some sort of divine intervention. :-)

I'll post for a new playing in the next week or so - have a busy schedule coming up the next few weeks so I'm going to let this game hang until I free up a little more time to get things rolling again.
Dec 12, 2016 11:01 am
Sure thing. Shouldn't be too hard to round up a player. And thanks for the heads up. I'll be around for whenever we resume.
Dec 12, 2016 4:32 pm
Sounds good.
Jan 8, 2017 10:54 am
I just realised I was only equipped with two spells and two cantrips. So I wil be adding Healing Word, Fairy fire and detect magic as for health so you want us to roll or take the average?

Since we seem to have an issue keeping four active people on this game I'm considering killing it all together and focusing on starting up something else.

Thoughts?
Feb 9, 2017 12:00 am
It's up to you. I'm fine with either decision of course. Shame though I really liked the ideas I had for this character.
Feb 9, 2017 12:42 am
Bad luck? I don't know what you should do. It's strangely hard to recover from periods of inactivity in PBP games, so I feel your pain.
Feb 9, 2017 1:17 am
Qralloq says:

That's the main problem I'm having, the lack of flow is just killing it. Which is a little weird when you think about it because it's kind of what PBP is all about.

I'll give it a couple days and decide what I'm going to do then. Some other stuff I'd like to run but I'm only willing to commit to running so many games.
