Houserules

1. The first rule is that we will be using Ascending Armor Class. I grow weary of THAC0. I am nostalgic for it, but that kind of nostalgia where you actively dislike the thing itself.

2. The second houserule is that characters start with Max HP at level 1, and then roll from there.

3. Thirdly, we will be using some sort of Wounds and Disfigurement in place of automatic death. Death will still be on the table, but I'd rather see your characters grow. At 0HP exactly or below, you are unconscious. If you pass 0HP, you roll a save to avoid a maiming wound. If you fail, you roll 1d12 on a chart that ranges from a neat scar to instant death. Recovery for some of these maiming wounds takes a week of bedrest. However, I will be upfront with situations that leave you simply dead.

d12WoundEffect
1DeathblowNo one could survive that
2Eye Damage*-4 to ranged hit rolls
3Lose a handCan still strap a shield to the arm
4Lamed*Movement is treated as one encumbrance higher
5Ugly scarPenalty to friendly social encounters
6Arm lossThe whole arm is gone
7Leg lossMovement is treated as two encumbrance higher
8Mostly deaf*Can manage conversations, but no listening checks
9Infected wound*Lose two points of Constitution
10Mental Trauma*Lose two points of Wisdom
11Lung injury*Two days required for healing
12Flesh woundNo lasting problems

*This can be treated by a healer and takes one week.

4. Combat is slow. Waiting on specific segments of a turn is even slower. Everything happens at once for each group initiative.

5. If you use HeroForge to create an avatar, you will be booed.
