Forging Your Fate

This thread is for determining the specific Destiny of each Fated character. Destinies are generated randomly using cards, and I recommend that you complete this step before beginning with character creation.

Post below and draw five cards. These are called your "Cross Roads Tarot." Each card in the tarot has a specific meaning based on its value, suit, and the order in which it was drawn. I will cross-reference the cards with the appropriate tables in the books and tell you the resulting Destiny.

A Destiny can usually be intepreted in several different ways. It's up to you to decide how your character learned of his Destiny, and how he feels about it. But as any fortune teller will warn you, prophecies should be deciphered with an abundance of caution. Their words may imply one thing but mean entirely something else.

Please shoot me a message before you draw any cards. That way, I can re-shuffle the deck for you. Otherwise, you're drawing from the same Fate Deck as the previous person who drew. I want each player to draw from a fresh deck.

Lol, yeah the Destinies are cryptic as hell.

It’s up to the GM to make the Destiny start to make sense at some point, though some players choose to tweak their character backstory to give parts of the Destiny possible meaning.

Your Destinies won’t play a huge role, since the pace of pbp makes it difficult to explore each person’s Fate in-depth. However, I still intend to ensure that they have an impact. Being "Fated" is an important part of the original game so I didn’t want to just ignore it.

No no, I'm all for it. I was just hoping there'd be something that would help in character design but... not so much. Lol

Interesting. Have to think about that one. I’ve got maybe an idea or two for how one of the lines might sort of apply to my guy.

I'm ready to draw! But! ... How do you do that in GP? Have never drawn cards before on here.

I've reshuffled the deck for you.

Go to the button that says "Advanced". It's located below the section for "Rolls" at the bottom of the post.

Once you click on "Advanced", the following inputs should appear. In the box for "Draw Cards", just enter "5" and then post. Thats it.

Hmm, apparently nothing? ... Do I need to type anything in the field below 'fate deck has 54 cards left?

You don't need to put anything in that other field. I doubled checked to make sure you have permission to draw. Go ahead and try again. This happened with someone else.

Yup, saw that, but didnt see an eye symbol. Trying again. Im also on mobile, so will try on PC later if it still doesn't work

Update: Hmm, nope. Tried different browsers, cleared cache, relogged into GP (on Windows and Android).

Worst case, I can draw the cards for you. I’ll do it tomorrow.
