Working on Eldritch Knight right now.

Alrighty, cool thing.

Submitted the character, still fleshing out some details (spell selection)

Do we need detailed backstory? If yes - some rough details about the world would be nice :)

Yes. However, you don't really need details because I want you to create your backstory, and name the terrain, the location, and whatever yourself, and I can create off of that. I feel like that gives the player more of a connection to the world. PM me your story.
-All you need to know though is that Sieldar is the name of the world, and Seren is the capital city filled with diversity, but mainly humans.
-Lady Light is the most commonly worshipped deity, but if you seek other gods, you may ask me which type you worship, and I'll tell you who it is.
-The world is just barely starting to be covered by Darkness forces, and the Night, so your backstory should consist of normal life before Darkness took over, and of course what happened when he attacked.
-Darkness has taken over most of the world, and Seren is the last hope, so put in how you got there. (Seren is the starting area)
-Any questions about specifics, just ask what you need.

Thanks for the invite Im_That_0n3_Guy! I'll start working on a character this weekend, should have him/her mostly if not 100% complete with backstory by Monday. Sounds like so far we currently have an Eldritch Knight and a Warlock?

Yes, make sure you read character generation info before creating your character. I have certain stats I want you to use for whomever you make.

Yep, I see the static numbers there no problem. Question regarding character generation; are we going to be strangers at the outset of the adventure? If not I might like to get a rundown on everyone's backstories as they become available.

Read my old post above regarding how I want backstories. PM the backstory first, and then I will create a sub thread for everybodies characters where you can post the backstory, picture, and traits/features for everyone to see. If you wish it to be secret, then just let me know. Moofsalot, I rejected your character solely because you didn't follow any of the character generation info, so sorry. If you would please revise it, I would be happy to approve it when it's done.

Seems like you're giving us a lot of leeway with regards to backstory and specific details. Sounds like this is what you want but just wanted to let you know I'm probably going to run with that and get into a decent amount of world-building for my char's part of the region.

Go right ahead. I want you to feel more connected to the world than just the usual pre-built worlds we're all used too, especially Faerun.

I am actually in the middle of building a cleric, but let me know if you have your heart set on it and I can think of something else. Or we can just have 2 clerics, couldn't hurt I guess :)

You can even be from the same temple if you both select same Domain

LOL my thoughts too. I usually feel a compulsion to balance the party, plus I was also considering a rogue or barbarian. Maybe I'll roll up a couple more char's and pick the one that rounds out the party best.

Since we're fairly magic happy, I may go straight up fighter or barbarian. I'll work on it this weekend

If we are going to have 2 frontlines and a fighty Cleric then I'll stick with my Cleric for my main for now and I'll make him more Spellcasty. Also my char is from a nation of seafaring folk, so they also worship Reyna!

Don"t dwell on "party setup" too much. You choose what you want to play not what "needs to be in party".
Eldritch Knights are considered inferior to other archetypes, but I wanted to play him, so enter Renard Black.
We'll make it work, guys :)

Also keep in mind that youre characters have never met each other, nor are they being coordinated into an even group. They are what you wamt them to be, and your group will thrive much better if you play comfortably and not stereotypically.

Just to clarify- in terms of stats do you mean we use the stats as-is and shouldn't apply racial bonuses?

Racial bonuses get applied. By the way, I dont think you updated your health and stuff. Double check everything and let me know when youre good.

do we roll HP, or just max it or use the static it suggests for advancement? Like for barbarian it's 1d12 (or 7) + Con modifier. Do you want us to roll the 1d12?

This will be the second game I've played in that doesn't feature a human, elf, or dwarf PC. Nice!

I always found it ironic that in most fantasy worlds humans are the most abundant race yet they are the least-picked for PC heroes :)

Maybe the Darkness targeted all the humans first. ;)

Isn't Seren mostly human? Maybe it's the hub of their civilization and we're all coming from the outskirts

So it's basically going to be nighttime everywhere. So how will passage of time be observed and measured by the characters if not even stuff like sundials are effective anymore?
