Gazam of the Deadwolf clan wanders, lost in thought. This is highly atypical for his behavior, and those of his kin. Dressed as a simple sailor, hunched over with the automatic deference of a peon, scowling as his race does so masterfully, in his demeanor is a man who is reconsidering his assumptions.

"These Loa," he begins, overly loudly with no attempt to hide his words from those around him on the road. "The Loas speak to you? Give you guidance? What do they demand in return? Babies? Treasure? Blood?"

He pauses but before his troll companion can answer, continues with: "What must I do to gain their favor?"

Meridia Highstrider is a slight blood elf, no taller than five and a half feet tall. Her strawberry-blond hair is of moderate length and is well kept and tied back, a single streak of grey is present, likely the result of the arcane. She is dressed more conservatively then the norm for blood elves, but still features the usual colour scheme deep reds with purple trim. In her hands is an ornately carved staff, inset with golden bands and red crystal. Her eyes show less of the glow typical to her kind, as if over the last 5 days she had been starving herself of fel and mana, the withdrawal of which clearly president in her irritable voice.

The elf holds a gruff conversation with a guard "I don't have time to be dealing with some alliance Mage wandering about. I want to know who I should be talking to if I want to infiltrate Ashenvale. Send your own dogs after them." she made some vague guature at some of the other guards and the two figures approaching.
Aug 5, 2016 6:24 am
Mul'Zeb chuckles at his new friend's ignorance, knowing that his own connection with the spirits is not a common one. "No, no, friend. Da Loa not be havin' use for treasure, or our young'uns. Aye, some be wantin' blood more dan da others, but dey be da fickle ones, just as likely to turn on ya when ya back be turned as to help ya." His fingers find the carved totem at his neck and he holds it for a few moments, before letting his hand drop. He notices Gazam taking special interest in the Loa and hopes this is a sign he is on the right track.

As they get closer to their destination, Mul'Zeb looks around and notices the abundance of guards around the area. He stops one passing close by and asks, "Hey now, what be goin' on here, mon? Why all da security? Somethin' been happenin'?"

The orc guard conversing with Meridia seems to have a smug smile barely form. "If you're going to infiltrate Ashenvale, then you could easily keep an eye out for anyone trying to infiltrate our lands."

Gazam and Mul'Zeb see guards of various horde races patrolling the area, with three interacting with a robed blood elf and an undead with a rifle slung over his shoulder.
Aug 6, 2016 7:35 pm
Gazam walls up to the blood elf, and somewhat shyly asks "Did you say mage?"
Aug 7, 2016 7:12 am
Yes. Apparently there's been some alliance mage stamping around, and I'm now going to have to jeopardize an already difficult infiltration by trying to seek them out. The mage rubs her temples, before shifting her attention back to the guards. At least provide me an escort to the edge of horde territory, that way I can get into disguise before entering alliance lands.
Aug 7, 2016 12:53 pm
"Me, too, have been looking for an alliance mage. She attacked my ship and when fought back she destroyed the Deadwolf clan farm. I will have my revenge even if I have to tear down the walls of Stormwind, rain fire on the people, and dig her body out if the rubble."

As he speaks, the orc, who is dressed like a simple sailor, grows furious. His eyes blaze with bloodlust and his hands glow with fel magics.
Aug 8, 2016 12:09 pm
Calm down big guy. I'm trying to resist siphoning and seeing you flaunting power is a bit too much right now. Hey I know how it feels, my whole people were nearly anhilated by the scourge, you don't see me slaying every rotling I see. She makes a vague gesture at the forsaken.

Allyk shakes as if waking, realizing that he's been standing gaping. Hearing the Elf's words, he smiles thinly and draws a cigarette from within one of the many pockets covering his shirt. Popping it into his mouth and lighting it he puffs before rasping Dont do me any favors, darlin'. The furtive hunted look has eased out of him now that there's an ocean between him and any potential pursuers
So, you're huntin' a Mage? Think you could use another hand? I'm not exactly overflowin with work opportunities at the moment. 'Sides, the world would do with less magic users in it. He pauses puffing on the tobacco before looking at Meridia Present company excluded of course
Aug 13, 2016 12:34 pm
"Where you go? Ashenvale?" He shrugs at Mul'Zeb. "Maybe she go to Ashenvale? If she did, we should go there!" He nods, utterly convinced by the plan. "Ashenvale, mmm, that way," he says, pointing to the northwest. "Past Deadwolf clan farms, then up through hills."
Aug 13, 2016 12:55 pm
Meridian buries her face in her palm "I'm not sure you quite understand what I need to do, I need to go there and pretend to be from the alliance, that's not going to work if I'm walking into town with an Orc warloc. I'm more than happy to accept an escort to the edge of horde territory but I really don't want you to go to Ashenvale"

General knowledge: diplomatic envoys often have a mix of racial representatives.
Aug 13, 2016 2:08 pm
Gazam nods, his eyes glazing over with loss of interest."What say the Loa?" Gazam asks Mul'Zeb.
Aug 13, 2016 7:29 pm
Mul'Zeb runs a hand back along his hair, looking at each person in front of him, before making eye contact with Gazam. "Ya be searchin' for a mage of da Alliance. Dese two seem to be headin' down da same path. It be seemin' dat da Loa be favorin' us dis day, my friend." He looks at the Blood Elf, "Aye, an escort be a good idea, not dat ya couldn' handle yaself, of course. We be happy to accompany ya." He turns to Allyk, "Da more, da merrier, eh? We could be usin' all da help we can get. From what I be hearin', dis mage be more dan a mere nuisance."
Aug 19, 2016 10:21 am
The orc guard gives you all a toothy grin. "It's set then! Use that scroll as passage through the Barrens." He motions to a scroll Meridia held. "You will be rewarded for your trouble." If there are no more questions, he and his guards leave, patrolling the area and questioning any newcomers.

There's a few options here.
1. You can go into Orgrimmar for whatever you might need/want.
2. You can leave immediately on your journey through Durotar and then the Barrens before infiltrating Ashenvale.
3. Whatever else you might want. It's your story.

Haha! That makes sense. Now to get everyone else's vote...
Aug 19, 2016 12:45 pm
Gazam seems down right eager to get going. He grins toothily and watches the scroll change hands. "Newcomers," he thinks. "You don't need paper to walk through the Barrens."
Aug 19, 2016 12:55 pm
OOC:
Oops. That was on another thread.
The guard informs you the scroll is to claim the reward for the mage's capture.
Aug 21, 2016 4:45 am
Mul'Zeb holds his totem in his hand, silently thanking the Loa for such luck. Once finished, he shifts to adjust the pack he carries on his shoulder. He looks to Gazam. "Aye, so now we all be goin' to Ashenvale after dis mage. Da spirits be smilin' on us, my friend." He turns more toward the group and spreads his hands out in an open gesture. "So? Which way we be headin'?"
OOC:
Totally cool with getting this show on the road.

Allyk absently places a hand on her chest, checking to make sure that his most precious item is still safely in place. Puffing out a thin stream of smoke, he looks at the group "Count my vote as for whichever direction leads me to further away from the Forsaken" a brief pause "Those fellas give me the heebie-jeebies"

As the group heads into the dry, rocky landscape of Durotar, Gazam's desire to find the mage has him at the front of the group, Mul'Zeb and Meridia close behind, and Allyk trailing slightly. Instead of taking the longer but safer route through Razor Hill, the group takes a more direct path through the area. After only a few hours, the Southfury River comes into view. The occasional pack of wild boar scurry out of your way, but it's not until you get much matter to the water that you spot signs of trouble: Quilboar.
What appears to be a hunting party of 4 are preoccupied by a crocolisk they've tempted out of the river.
Aug 28, 2016 8:47 am
Looks like those four have bitten of more than they can chew, the Mage couldn't help but smirk at her own joke. I'm not feeling particularly altruistic, lets leave them to there potential fate.

Gazam watches the Quillboar, laughing at their impending misfortune. "Stupid quillboar, when boars so near, but maybe they dont eat cousins, ha. But croc is tasty."

He looks around. "We hit the Quillboar now, then croc bites them in butt. Quillboar sandwich."
Aug 30, 2016 1:06 am
Mul'Zeb lets a hand slide down to the hand axe at his hip. "Aye, dey be seemin' like easy targets but we not be wantin' to alert others dat may be nearby." He shades his eyes with his other hand and scans the area to check for other Quilboar in the area.

OOC:
You see no other Quilboar around. During your discussion, the hunting group has successfully captured the crocolisk.
Sep 2, 2016 11:23 pm
Their attention no longer focused on the hunt, the Quilboar gather their gear and the captured (now dead) crocolisk. They turn, walking toward you, oblivious to your presence - for now.
Sep 3, 2016 12:00 am
"They spotted you elf!" Gazam hunches lower, but prepares to cast a spell. Visions of a growing conflict echo in his mind. Orcs have run roughshod over this land, but the Quillboars have refused to make way. "They will learn", he mumbles maliciously.
Sep 3, 2016 12:03 am
Allyk slips his gun off of his shoulder, So I'm gonna guess that we won't be talking our way out of this one?
Sep 3, 2016 12:12 am
They haven't seen us yet, we could probably slip away with out them noticing... the Mage clearly eager to avoid a fight.
Sep 3, 2016 12:21 am
As the Quilboar approach, you notice there are many large rocks to block line of sight between you and the hunters, if you so choose. Otherwise, the are coming into the rocky area, straight to you.
Sep 6, 2016 12:43 am
I'd think that's prudent Allyk turns words to action as he starts to slip into the rocks trying to find a decent place to hide while still having a clear enough field of fire
Sep 6, 2016 1:20 pm
Gazam hears his companions slip away. He growls lightly to himself and follows them out of the path of the quillboars, ducking low to remain out of sight behind the broken rocky landscape.
Sep 7, 2016 3:13 am
Mul'Zeb runs over and crouches behind a rock not far from Gazam, his axe in hand as a precaution. He whispers, "We not be wantin' to cause more trouble dan we be needin'."

Allyk whispers softly Anyone know how these things taste?
Sep 8, 2016 12:39 am
The rocks serve you well. The Quilboar pass you by, oblivious to your presence.
Crossing the river, your journey through the Barrens is largely uneventful. Plainstriders and zhevra graze, and the occasional outpost offers rest and work, if you so choose it.
Otherwise, you eventually see the trees of Ashenvale's forests loom on the horizon. A sort of gateway or small outpost marks the boundary of territories. There are guards, but it seems they're only interested in anything coming from the trees, not into them.

OOC:
So quick question, glowing eyes? In the race text high/blood elves only have glowing eyes after they use their can trip power. Do you want to use this interpretation, or would you rather Meridia have to find a way of disguising them? As we are approaching the boarder, she will have switched to wearing her old acolytes robes by the way.
Sep 9, 2016 10:35 am
OOC:
I think that interpretation works fine. It's a good tell for who's using magic.

I'd say that's accurate. The journey has likely taken several days if not a full week by now.
Sep 9, 2016 11:09 am
Right, thanks for the escort lads, but I suspect hanging around you lot's going to be more dangerous after we enter those woods then it's worth... Meridia seems very distracted and testy, though it's probably just I side effect of mana withdrawal.

As your group approaches the gate, a guard turns to acknowledge you. He seems to be the one in charge, judging by his armor. "If you go into Ashenvale, be alert." His tone is grim and serious. "The Night Elves hide among the trees. They might ambush you, or pick you off one by one." His gaze settles over Meridia for a moment before shaking his head. You overhear him say something about how all elves are strange looking before he goes back to his vigil over the border.
Sep 9, 2016 1:18 pm
Gazam shrugs. Elves seem flighty to him, and they're going the wrong direction. Still, seeing Ashenvale would be thrilling, and the chance to slaughter some night elves...

"Maybe we go this way anyway. See big trees, rain lightning and fire on the night elves." He nods as he looks at the others, seeking their agreement.
Sep 13, 2016 9:00 pm
The orc turns back around to you. "Wait! Are you after the Alliance mage? Word spread of her stowing away on a zepplin to Orgrimmar." He growls angrily, clutching his axe handle jutting from its hip holster. "This insult cannot stand! Teach the bitch her place." He gives you a cruel smile before turning back to his vigil.

I'm gonna start doing this.
*~{(QUEST ACCEPTED)}~*
OOC:
Doing a bit of a time skip to get things moving.
Meridia begrudgingly agrees to stay together - for now, she claims. The old adage "strength in numbers" rings in her head. Stepping into the forest, it quickly thickens as you walk along the road. The first turn your path takes completely cuts off view to the orc patrolled border. Sounds of the forest and your own footfalls are all you hear for quite some time.
The sudden silence of everything in the forest stops you in your tracks. In a matter of heartbeats, you see a towering creature of rock and green fire crashing through the trees, thrashing its way to you. Various magical energies and a spray of bullets assault the creature as it swings its limbs around itself before turning around to face the way it came only to be met with a hail of arrows. After several exchanges between your party and the creature with arrows seeming to fire from the trees themselves, the creature falls. The stones that made up the bulk of its body bounce and scatter as its fel fire is snuffed out.
Slowly, the sounds of the forest return as a lone female night elf steps out of the shadows to glare at you all. It appears as though she is about to say something just as an unearthly roar echoes through the trees, once again silencing the forest. The next and last thing you see of the elf is a blur of motion, rustling branches following close behind her.
You have a brief moment of silence as you fully comprehend what just happened: there are demons in Ashenvale.
As you're about to continue your journey, the sound of a snapping twig brings your attention to the demon's path of destruction. A blonde high elf In white robes with blue trim nervously looks around. "Excuse me! You wouldn't happen to see some night elf Sentinels chasing demons, would you?" Introductions are made and it turns out this is Thalnazz Whitesong, Priest of the Holy Light. Since this is who Meridia is searching for, she convinces the rest of the party to follow them to Silverwing Outpost.
