In times of trouble the game is a good bit of diversion. It is a simple one, instead of casting dice for luck, this is a game of skill. Played between two people armed with spears the combatants take turns throwing their spears at a log 35ft away (-1 to hit vs ac 10). Both contestants take their throw, and the the victor throws first. If the result is a draw, whoever threw first, throws first again.
Scoring is immediate, and like all viking games meant to encourage superiority. Therefore the winner must win by two hits. As score is tallied immediately the winner will be unambiguous. The minimum victory score is 5.
It is possible to cheat, a contestant may attempt to surprise Hraven by throwing first. In addition they may also attempt a trick shot with an additional -4 to hit and if it isn't matched by the other contestant it is an instant win. Critical Hits, (a natural 20) are worth 3 points and often cause an instant win.
As this game is a means to feed his family it costs 1 Hacksilver per play. If the contestant beats Hraven they get bragging rights, afterall you bested a berserker on the topic of weapons. Hraven is discreet, if you lose twenty times and win once he will still say you bested him. And that will carry obvious weight with thrall, Freeman, and hersir alike.
