Should I run a character concept by you first? I'm thinking something like a spunky teenager that has gotten through life by the skin of his teeth.

Sounds fine. You can start on your character background and traits as that is what we need to agree on.

Hmm, I'm thinking he'll be a Human to get that extra trait.

Then to represent how he gets through a lot of trouble by saying the right thing, I'm thinking of having "Insightful" and then maybe "Fast-Talker" as another trait? I want a trait describing how he slips by for the third one, but I'm not sure what to call it.

For his trade I imagine he was something like a newspaper kid, the type that announces news at a square or something, maybe in a Freehold.

And for his belief, I'm thinking: "There's always another way out."

How's that?

Reading is uncommon in my setting. Simple ideograms a are used by most.

You could be a former page who worked in the court, apprentice clerk, town cryer(basically a civil employee who read providers), or city urchin for your trade

Ok, I can go with Nimble. And I like the idea of apprentice clerk, and he learned to be nimble just cause he had to run around a bunch doing tiny tasks for everyone.

You have yet to submit your character. It does not need to be done before you do that. If you submit earlier I can see what you are working on. Let me know if you need help the instructions on how to do that.

I also ask players for a short description of their characters circumstances as a starting point Inti the story. Basically what and where you before and why change to adventure?

So Alexander is a clerks assistant and is looking for more in life. He is the first socially focused character I have had but luckily there is a side quest that is primarily social so right up his ally. I will start him at the expedition Base. Read the first three of post for some background info then skip to the end

Hey @rocketdentures let me know if you need anything. I know that was an odd start but that NPC is in the main story an d just a bit socilly oblivious we will get you to some more coherent and interesint interplay soon.

No worries. I just wanted to make sure you are good. We will get you some familiarity with the setting ans system then you can pick which other group to join.
1 Library - this group is the slowest and posts 1-2 times a week
2 Tunnels - these guys do 1-3 posts a day
3 - join Nekgeen, he is also new, and you guys have a couple options

If you like you can join the others who will be going into the tunnels or stay solo for a bit then join the library. Let me know
