As the story begins, we find Kaydie and Ollie, in their favorite spot in Freeland, a run down building passing as a tavern in this town - The Blind Minotaur. A storm is brewing outside as you hear the thunder rolling in the distance. The tavern is packed, probably 100 or so patrons and several bartenders and servers. It usually isn't this busy, but the storms draw people in.

Kaydie and Ollie sit in a corner, able to watch everyone in here.

A human (Tep) walks in not much later, presumably to escape the impending rain as well.

Then, something even more unusual walks in, an Eladrin (Red). This is unusual in any part of the world, as they usually wouldn't be caught dead with common folks. But it is especially unusual in a town like Freeland.

What is everybody doing?

Tep realizes how packed the place is, and starts slowly shifting through the crowd listening for any job leads or other valuable rumors, occassionally making small talk.

"You see them two, Kaydie? Look like the kind of weirdos perfect to help us out with our next job. What do you think? Should we encourage them this way?" Ollie whispers and gesturing at her rat familar and invisible mage hand.

Red feels the eyes upon her when she enters, but at least the conversation doesn't stop completely. She knows she's and outsider among these people, but that's exactly why she's here, to be among them, to get to know them, to learn.

Making her way carefully and gracefully to the bar she inquires about a drink, whatever is local, and food, non-meat if possible but she won't balk if that can't be avoided.

While she waits to be served she turns her attention back to the crowd and eavesdrops on what the locals are discussing.

Kaydie had was glad to be sfaely sheltered in from the storm, as she had been sitting chatting with her new friend Ollie, over something that has to pass as a drink. She looked up at the people entering. She nods.

"I guess they could be... oh wow... look at her." Kaydie says in amazement as she is openly staring at Red, with no effort to hide that she is or to pretend that she is not. "She's an elf isn't she? But there is something different about that one." not hushed at all. Social subtleness was not Kaydie's thing at all.

"I'll take that as permission. I have a feeling she wont be scared of little Mer here so I'll send him after the human gentleman."

Ollie instructs her rat familar to go scare Tep in this direction. While that's going on she will also cast Mage Hand invisibly and have it tap Red in the shoulder than take her hand and lead her over to our table in front of Kaydie. If Mer successful causes Tep to come towards the table Ollie will address him, "You look like someone looking for our kind of work dear sir."

Hearing the young girl call her out specifically gets the druids attention. As she's turning to find the exact person who spoke she feels the tap on her shoulder.

"Oh! she exclaims reflexively, but then smiles as she feels the magic invisible hand grasp hers and pull her toward the very person she sought out. Reaching their corner Red tilts her head and takes in the pair. With a smile and a soft voice she greets them.

"Hello, my name is Red Pipit. You seem to want my attention for some reason. What can I do for you?"
May 11, 2023 7:48 pm
Tep, completely unfazed by the rodent, continues through the crowd.
May 11, 2023 7:57 pm
Mer comes back unsuccessful. "Guess i under estimated him." Ollie says. The little owlin jumps up on the table and takes flight above the crowd. She narrowly lands in front of the human. "Hey you look like someone wanting some work." She says with a wink. "Meet me at that corner table if you are interested." Then she back flips and takes flight again back to see how the conversation between Kaydie and Miss Pipit is going.

Tep cocks his head to look at the little owl person, flipping and flying in a crowded bar. "Not the worst offer I've had today," he muses to himself before making his way to the corner table.

"So... you mentioned work?"

Kaydie feels a bit awkward instantly. She is really not good with people and now this strange, but fascinating elf like creature named Red suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Uhmm.... hi," she just said. "I'm Kaydie. I was just a bit bewildered by your appearance. We don't see much of your kind down here. You are some sort of elf, right?" she asks bluntly, without consideration if she might be rude when asking like this.

"Kaydie, a pleasure to meet you. I am indeed "some kind of elf" that's true. The term is Eladrin. One of the fancy kind usually, but I don't go in for all that. I'm a druid by trade, protector of the natural order, a healer for any in need."

She turns at the arrival of the owling. "And who do we have here?"
May 11, 2023 10:54 pm
"Here we have Ollie. I was the one who brought you over with my mage hand spell.

"A clever trick, my new friend Ollie. Nice to meet you as well."
May 12, 2023 1:49 pm
As the three of you meet and interact, suddenly the doors to the tavern burst open with a loud BAM! The room goes silent and in walks a large half-orc and a small gnome.

Well, looks like it's tax time, Gleebo. the half-orc says to the gnome.

Indeed, Borkis. the gnome responds.

The half-orc makes his way to the bar. Fenrille, based on how many patrons are in here, I'd say you owe about 50 gold.

Please, don't do this. That's too much.

The half-orc grabs the elf bartender by the collar. You owe, what you owe. I don't make the rules, Veris does. Veris protects this place, you owe for that protection. It'd be a shame if something bad happened to this place.

With that, the gnome releases a small flaming bolt from his hand at the stacks of alcohol behind the bar. No fire starts, but the point is made.

While they are distracted with the bar keep Ollie wants to pick pocket the gold pouch off the half orc using mage hand. The mage hand will be invisible obviously.

The pouch of gold comes off easily and unnoticed.

Ollie will bring it to her self and hide it until the confrontation is over and they have left.
