Posting conventions

• Put in-character speech in bold
• If you want to adopt a colour for your in-character speech, you may
• Place out-of-character text in gameplay threads in OOC tags
• When quoting a large block of rules text, put it in spoiler tags

Play-by-post writing usually uses third person, present tense, e.g. "Ragnar examines the map closely." I won't strictly enforce this but the threads are easier to read when everyone keeps to the same style.

Conditional actions, e.g. "Ragnar tries the door and if it's unlocked, will open it and enter the room," are welcome as they help to speed up gameplay, but use common sense as to their limits.

It is good practice to include or refer to other Player Characters in your post, but do not assume their actions or responses. Respect other player's agency.

It is completely fine to include your character's internal thoughts in your posts.

If you aren't sure what to do, or what action your character should take, let us know in the OOC thread.

A roll made without any description (e.g. "I roll strength") will always fail. Write at least a one-sentence description of what your character is doing, e.g.
"Ragnar plants his feet and strains his muscles against the door." (Open doors roll)
"Ragnar feels the sorcerer's magic mazing his mind and digs deep for the will to resist!" (Save vs spell)

Editing your post to reflect the success or failure of an action is allowed (but not required), as long as the only changes are cosmetic - you can't change your action. E.g.
"Grinning evilly, Ragnar kicks the door open." (failed roll), could be changed to:
"Grinning evilly, Ragnar kicks at the door, which stubbornly refuses to open. 'Damned thing's tougher'n it looks!' he says, gingerly rubbing his bruised heel."
