Ulrich Bronzeheart is an amiable, if a bit dull, dwarf who has lived most of his life in the settlements of humans where he survived on the streets. Without a clan or family, he turned to a life of crime as a burglar and second story man to put bread and ale on the table. He kept his head low by avoiding the guilds or working with established gangs too often but eventually the rumors of an expedition to find Mirn Dural stirred something within him. Gathering his few possessions he struck out from his life of petty larceny to reclaim a legacy he knew little of.

Ghardak Ironhelm used to be a miner. He was caught in a cave-in and when he awoke he found his skin had the consistency of stone. He helped dig his fellow miners out. Realising he had another divine purpose, he practised his fighting skills. He seeks to find out why the dwarf gods have transformed him into stone, though his visage is quite disturbing to others, particularly non-dwarfs.

The middle child of a warrior family, Sen Malor was never one for fighting. He just never could swing the warhammer the way his sisters could. A little embarrassed by Sen, his family sent him off to the clerical college hoping that he might make a name for himself following a divine path (or at least that he would stop making a fool of himself in the training yards). Sen recently heard of an expedition to Mirn Dural and put his name in the hat. He hopes to come home rich, esteemed and worthy in the eyes of his family.

Rune-smiths belong to no clan, they belong to the the Deep Citadel. They are not truly clanless either, for they are granted to the dwarven lords as advisors and aides. Dalomdûmir is one such Rune-smith, and it is evident that those of the Deep Citadel live by different standards than other dwarves. For starters, meat is taboo; Dalo (as he is often called, much to his chagrin) is thinner and less healthy as a result, but it is believed that certain commonalities stand in the way of rune-truth. He has been sent in search of Mirn Dural by his lord, a petty ruler of a small hold. To aid him in this journey, he has been gifted the war-hound Freki; he has not yet grown to love the dog.

Gyrmmal Ironhelm is a fighter. Coming from the Ironhelm clan, he comes by much of this talent naturally. From a young age, he lived with a traveling group of mercenaries from the Ironhelm clan. They would move to villages and towns that were in need of fighters.

A proud member of Clan Ironhelm, Gromli Goldtooth is a mercenary in a company called the "Blades of Blood" based in the Grey Mountains. His captain, Zarrek Cragborn, assigned him to the Mirn Dural mission as a reward for the many successful battles against the goblins.
Gromli has a gold upper tooth. He claims he lost the original tooth fighting a bugbear in hand-to-hand combat. His father, a goldsmith, forged the replacement.
