The setting for this game is Tolkien-inspired, but loose enough to accommodate other interpretations of the Dwarven people.
Since this game is a one-off dungeon-crawl, there is no need for a high level of setting detail. I've provided a few details to give the game some context. Players are strongly encouraged to fill in the gaps themselves when creating a character or during play. I'm happy to elaborate or answer questions where needed.
History
Long ago, the great halls of the Dwarves were lost, one by one – plundered by dragons, lost in bitter wars with the goblin-kin, or fallen into darkness. Since then, some Dwarves have established newer, lesser dwellings; mere echoes of the work of their fore-fathers. Others live amongst men, as famed smiths and craftsmen. But the boldest refuse to surrender their ancestral homelands, and seek to reclaim their birthright treasures by courage, cunning and strength of arms.
