Kai Sunseeker Whatoto

Race: Goliath

Class: Barbarian (Path of the Totem Warrior)

Languages: Common, Giant

Deity: Lady Light

Personality Traits: I have a strong sense of fair play and always try to find the most equitable solution to arguments...and often equitable is defined very literally. I have a lesson for every situation, drawn from observing nature.

Ideal: Respect, privilege and position should always be based on merit.

Bonds: I will allow nothing to deter me from saving Lady Light.

Flaw: I cannot decline a physical contest especially wrestling.

Backstory: The Goliaths of the Karakia tribe built their village on the plateau at the top of mighty Maunga Ra, a mountain in the undiscovered wilds far to the west of Seren. They live in relative peace thanks to their devout reverence to Lady Light and because it's a village full of seven foot tall warriors.

Kai Bearstriker Whatoto is big even for Goliath standards and he is the undefeated wrestling champion of his tribe. Occasionally, an upstart will challenge him, but at this point success for his opponents is defined by avoiding losing for a longer period of time than their last attempt. For fun and exercise, he has started wrestling wild animals, but he will always accept a challenge.

To ensure the continued safety of the tribe (and his status as champion), he has trained under the Karakia shaman, Paalu. She has shown him to harness his rage and become one with Aata the Bear, totem animal spirit of the tribe.

Each morning the entire tribe would gather just before dawn and greet Lady Light with praise and worship. In return, she shined down upon them and blessed their crops. Without warnings or omens, the she turned her back on them and did not return. Lady Light was angry with them for some unknown transgression and Paalu tried for a week and a day to offer sacrifice and prayers. At that point, shame turned to fear as she divined that something had happened to Lady Light and they must send their champion to assist.

On that day, Paalu named him Kai "Sunseeker" Whatoto. He descended Maunga Ra and journeyed east to find Lady Light and help in whatever way he could.
