This might be an unusual pitch. But I really love this character and I was really bummed out when I lost the game she was supposed to be in. I really want to play the character and I was wondering if anyone here could help me find a home for her.
Now, since this is a Traveller character I realize it would have to be taken at face value, since anyone even remotely considering taking Fin on would not have been able to track the lifepath rolling and more or less accept the final chargen result. I realize this might be a deal breaker, but with Traveller I also can't futz with an already finished character without completely altering the essence of the character. The character was creating using Traveller 2e mostly with some homebrew rules. So she should be more or less compatible with Traveller 2e.
So, with all that said, is anyone willing to take this character on in a Traveller game they might be already running or planning to run, with the caveat that any alterations to it would be cosmetic at the most to accommodate for any setting peculiarities?
As for me... I prefer slow-paced heavy RP games with lots of PC on PC and PC on NPC interactions. As a player I'm not much for combat. Although I do tend to approach combat encounters from the perspective of my character, I, as a player, tend to get bored with it if its too much or too often. I'm a fan of romance in RP and my characters (I only ever make female characters) are gay. That is to say, male characters are free to give it their best shot, they are just not gonna get far :D

[ +- ] Fin's backstory
Fin was born to a mother and a father scientists traveling charted space to conduct their work. Tragedy struck one day when Fin was but a toddler. Their ship was attacked by Oghman Raiders. Her father killed when he'd tried to defend them. And she and her mother were spared only because her mother complied with the raiders out of fear they would kill her child.
And so mother and daughter were brought to Oghma, where Fin's mother were made to user her scientific expertise to the benefit of the Oghman tribes, under penalty of her daughter's life and safety.
Fin grew up in a harsh world of tribal hierarchies. And by the time she hit her growth spurt she'd already begun attracting looks. Some simply of ill content that the child was a load on the tribe without earning her worth. Others, well, let's just say others were something a mother would never want her daughter to experience. But since Fin was the ball and chain that kept her mother in compliance, the tribal leaders decided the best way to protect the whelp and keep the tribesmen happy was to put her to work. She was given any menial task one could think of. From tending to the animals to prepping game to be cooked. To cooking. Anything and everything.
They didn't trust the girl enough to train her up as one of their warriors. Not to mention she was tall, but skinny. Still, whatever they threw at her, Fin persevered. She learned a little bit of this and that, and how to be quiet as a mouse while doing it. A true lesson in survival!
Meanwhile, Kalida Odell, a GeDeCo employee, stationed at Oghma's starport, had taken an interest in Fin and her mother's situation. Kalida had taken it upon herself to free mother and daughter from the Oghman. Her reasons her own. To make a long story short, by the time Fin had hit her eighteenth year, Kalida, or as Fin had started affectionately refer to her, SP for step-parent, had managed to bargain for their freedom and be brought to live with her at the GeDeCo facilities. And when Fin had expressed a desire to leave Oghma, it was Kalida who'd put her in contact with the Scout Services, working as a courier. While her mother had decided to stay at Oghma with Kalida.
A short, but exemplary stint with the scouts had the girl maturing further, finally putting some mass on her bony frame and even earning her first credits. It also made her realize the difficulties she would face ahead because of the lack of proper learning and book knowledge.
Fin had never intended to stay on with the Scout Services for long. It had always been a way for her to get off world and into Imperium space. She'd had her eye on the Marine Corps for a while now. From various stories SP had told her and she'd overheard from the raiders returning to Oghma. So she gave it her all at the entrance tests and made it in. With a flying leap one might say.
What followed was years of training, learning, hard work and dedication. From the very start the Corp had noticed Fin's affinity for first aid and had put her in the medic corps. The young woman worked hard as corpsman. Hit the books, worked on her weapon proficiencies and the brass took notice. She was promoted to Lance Corporal. This small success had sparked a thirst and an ambition in Fin and so she'd decided to hit the books even harder and by the end of her first term with the Corp took the officers test and passed. By the skin of her teeth, but for her it was a big achievement. And it had the added bonus of her mum and SP being over the moon with pride with her achievement. Their daughter, a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps.
The following years were more of the grind. Battles fought. Soldiers saved and lost. Somewhere along the way Fin took an interest in disarming the devices that tended to do the most damage in the field. So she made it a point to learn what she needed to know. If less soldiers got blown to bits, less corpsmen would need to face the reality of the facts that not all injured on the battlefield can be saved. She racked up a few more promotions over the years, as well as a fair amount of haunting nightmares. Ousted a few eejits who somehow managed to climb the officer ladder and were given command over people's lives.
By the time she'd hit the nearing of her fifth term with the Marine Corp, she was tired, beaten and more than a bit traumatized. She'd seen more death, maiming and destruction to last her a couple of lifetimes. Lost soldiers under her command. Friends. Patients. So when the time had come to decide on another reenlistment, she'd said 'Hell, no!' and had instead, retired. She was honorably discharged at the rank of LT Colonel from the Marine Corps. With a satisfactory cash bonus, some other benefits and amenities, as well as an yearly VA pension of ten thousand credits.
All in all, not a bad run for an ex slave of Oghman Raiders.

[ +- ] A tired, old wardog!
Her hands were shaking again. Hard! She kept staring at them in dismay. As if she couldn't possibly fathom why they would do that. Continuously. She stumbled out of her bedroom, through the apartment, into the kitchen. Once there Fin started rummaging through the cupboards frantically. Without any purpose whatsoever. All she knew was she had to do something. Something with her hands so they would stop shaking. They needed to stop shaking! Drawer after drawer were viciously pulled out. Cupboard doors slammed open forcefully enough to disturb the hinges. There had to be something!
Nothing!
It was getting worse! She started to fumble with handles. Rip out entire drawers, spilling their contents all over the floor like loose guts and innards. Doors of cupboards now desperately hung on half a hinge.
Nothing!!!
Delirious Fin moved to the bathroom and gave it a similar treatment.
Bloody nothing!!!
What next? Where to go next!? Where could she find something. That something. What was she looking for again?!?
Without realizing it Fin found herself in her former flatmate's room. He was mostly living with his girlfriend now, but hadn't made the final step of packing his belongings.
And sure enough, like a wild beast, Fin tore through his room in much the same manner as she had done with the kitchen and bathroom. And there, finally, in the far corner of one drawer, stuffed between vid-chips and datapads, crumpled as all hell she found it!
The fag was crooked and almost torn in half, but Fin cared little. The moment her fingers had wrapped around the crumpled cigarette box, the shakes had stopped!
